Jojo wiped his tears that kept falling and tried to touch his father’s face again. "D-Daddy, is that really you? P-please don’t hurt Sisi, okay?"

Kael sensed that something was amiss. He frowned and stared straight into Jojo’s golden eyes. "Jojo, can you see me right now?"

Jojo shook his head. "I can’t see anything, Daddy..."

Kael’s heart sank the moment he heard that. This was the first time Jojo had manifested as the Dawn Star, and there had never been any reports from previous eras of the Dawn Star being blind.

Was this a side effect because Jojo was too young? Or was this simply Jojo awakening his power in a bizarre way? Kael remembered how he awakened his own power when he was only five, and all he could feel was a burning sensation all over his body, leaving him restless and in constant agony.

"Jojo, no matter what, you must not leave Sisi’s side until she wakes up. Understood?"

"I’ll close the door. If someone knocks, tell them not to come in, okay?"

Kael smiled at Jojo’s overprotectiveness. He kissed his son on the forehead before leaving the room and closing the door behind him.

Outside, he ran into Leah, who was carrying a tray of food for Jojo.

"Ah!" Leah dropped the tray, and Kael quickly caught her.

He looked down at the unassuming maid whom Sisi had personally chosen as her attendant. He didn’t raise his guard against her because he thought since Sisi trusted this woman, then he should trust her as well.

And Leah... being stared at by the Beast King with his bright crimson eyes didn’t evoke fear in her.
