Chapter 109: Chapter 109: A King’s Wild Imagination

He clenched the armrests several times, trying to calm himself. He trusted that Vestor was professional enough not to entangle personal feelings with his work.

’But that woman is so damn attractive... what if that old owl can’t control himself?’ Kael thought as his imagination ran wild.

He pictured Sisi being sweet-talked by the old owl, an arm wrapped around her waist as he whispered,

"My sweet Sisi. Will you accept me? I may be twice your age, but I can still hold you in bed. My prowess is undeniable, as you see that I’ve fathered dozen of children."

Sisi, who was usually cold and detached, would melt under his honeyed words and nod shyly.

"Take me as one of your wives. I don’t care if I’m the sixth, seventh... or even the tenth!"

The image escalated until he imagined Sisi and Vestor about to kiss.

Kael immediately crushed the thought.

He couldn’t picture Sisi kissing anyone.

In fact, he preferred that she never became entangled with any man. So she could stay by Jojo’s side... and inevitably, his as well.

But still...

’What if she’s tempted? Could it be that her type is an old man with graying hair?’

"Argh, damn it!" Kael cursed aloud as he abruptly stood up from his throne, startling the attendant who was still reading reports.

She looked up, breaking into a cold sweat. "M-My King, is there something wrong with the report?"

"No. Nothing’s wrong," Kael said impatiently. "But I have urgent matters to attend to. We’ll continue tomorrow."

With that, he strode out of the throne room, leaving the attendant staring after him in shock.

"Did something terrible happen?" she muttered. "I’ve never seen His Majesty this anxious before... It must be something threatening the kingdom."

Kael didn’t hesitate. He headed straight for the Queen’s Courtyard, his expression dark and furious—like a husband about to catch an adulterous couple.

The guard at the gate stiffened at the sight of his King and rushed to kneel, but Kael ignored him and marched straight inside.

He brushed past the maids and guards without a glance and headed directly for the main building.

At the entrance, he encountered Diane, the raccoon head maid.

She was startled by his sudden appearance and his frightening expression. Bowing properly, she asked, "My King, what brings you here?"

"Where is Sisi?" Kael demanded.

"M-Mistress is in the garden, My King," Diane replied. "She said she wanted a change of scenery before going to bed."

"And Vestor?" Kael asked, his gaze darkening further. "Is he there as well?"

"The advisor? No, My King. Mistress is alone with a guard in the gard—"

Before Diane could finish, Kael was already moving.

His aura spilled out uncontrollably as he rushed toward the garden, terrifying everyone in the courtyard. Just moments ago, the Beast King had seemed calm. Now he looked as though he might kill someone.

It made them wonder if Mistress Sisi would fall out of favor in less than a day.

Thus, everyone gazed at the garden with sympathy.

When Kael reached the garden pavilion, he saw Sisi smiling gently as she handed an apple to a young guard. The guard accepted it with a shy smile.

’Damn it, she is already charming men left and right!’ Kael fumed. ’I really can’t take my eyes off her for even a moment.’

He strode forward and snatched the apple from the guard’s hand before the young man could react.

Then Kael bit into it.

Both Sisi and the guard stared at him in shock.

Chewing aggressively, Kael glared at the guard. "Why are you standing inside the pavilion? Get out." 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢

"Y-Yes, My King!"

The guard scrambled away, stopping a few steps outside.

Kael scowled. "Further!"

"Yes, My King!"

The guard retreated until stood next to a tree. He was still able to see the pavilion, but far enough that he couldn’t hear a word spoken inside.

Kael finished the apple while locking eyes with Sisi.

He looked like an injured beast—wronged and aggrieved—but Sisi saw no injury at all.

Besides, someone powerful enough to hurt him was certainly not her match. So, why would he come here as if he had been suffering injustice?

After swallowing the last bite, Kael tossed the core aside and snapped, "Why did you give a mere guard your apple? Do you know how hard it is to get fresh apples in winter? My people have to trade with southern caravans just to get them!"

"Is that so? Then I apologize, I thought it’s not rare in here, because there are plenty of apples on the table," Sisi frowned. "But why are you so worked up over a single apple?"

"B-Because... because it’s damn expensive!" Kael shouted as he sat down abruptly across from her. He grabbed another apple and added, "I forbid you from sharing these fruits with guards. Do you hear me?"

Sisi narrowed her eyes as she noticed that his reaction was unnatural.

There was no way the Beast King, ruler of a wealthy kingdom, was angry over the price of an apple.

From what she’d observed, the Beast Kingdom was immensely rich. She realized so after noticing one of the diamonds embedded casually into the wall in her room.

That specific diamond could easily buy a house in a human capital city. The Matriarch had once told her such jewels were reserved for kings and queens.

And here?

They were decorations.

The kingdom might look modest now, but that was only because it was young. In a few decades, especially after establishing trade routes, it would surpass most human civilizations.

So no.

This wasn’t about an apple.

There must be something more than met the eye.

"I gave it to him because I couldn’t eat all of these myself," Sisi said calmly, gesturing to the fruit on the table. "And why are you here? I thought you were busy with kingdom affairs."

"This kingdom is mine to begin with. I can come and go whenever and wherever I want," Kael stated.

"Well, you’re not wrong, but why are you here?" Sisi pressed further. "Nothing seems urgent. Did something happen to Jojo?"
