Mommy Villainess-Chapter 382: Heated Confrontation
Chapter 382: Heated Confrontation
[THE WHITE Snake looks out of it.]
To be fair, Noel Sherwood could tell that he could restrain the White Snake.
But there was something about the White Snake’s aura that made his skin crawl.
Yumi, the Black Serpent’s mother and Spirit Guardian, was in her human form. But that body was nothing but a temporary shell.
Hence, it would be easy to kill the White Snake.
However...
[My instincts are telling me to stay away from her.]
"Captain Denver, don’t attack the White Snake," Luna said in a serious and slightly nervous tone. "There’s something strange with her."
Oh.
He was glad that he wasn’t the only one who felt that way.
"Then I’ll follow your advice, Miss Luna," Noel said, raising his arms. "For now, I’ll make a barrier since the White Snake is giving me the creeps."
"Good thinking, Captain."
And it really was a good idea.
As soon as Noel put up the barrier around them and the ancient magic circle, the White Snake suddenly screamed like the lunatic that she was.
But that scream seemed to have summoned something sinister.
Out of nowhere, hundreds of white snakes emerged from the ground and attacked the barrier.
No– they looked like white snakes at first. But the color suddenly changed from white to black. And the change didn’t only end with the color.
The aura of the snakes had also turned sinister.
"Demons...?"
Noel and Luna asked at the same time, then they turned to each other– and the both of them looked so shocked.
And understandably so.
"Did you feel it, too, Captain?" Luna asked in disbelief. "Please tell me I’m wrong. It’s not demonic power, is it?"
He could understand why the witch wanted it to be a lie.
In fact, he felt the same.
[The Devil, the father of the Demon Race, is the natural enemy of gods. The gods had barely sealed the Devil in the past. If the Devil suddenly appeared now, then we’re in trouble. The major gods are scattered at the moment. Without them, we cannot win against the Devil.]
He didn’t want to scare himself, but he was simply stating the reality.
"It is demonic power, Miss Luna. I know it’s horrible, but we must face reality in order to prepare for the worst-case scenario," Noel said, focusing on strengthening the barrier that he made because he could feel the White Snake getting stronger and stronger by the minute. "Although the return of the Devil and the demons on earth is a nightmare to the humankind, I must admit that I feel thrilled as a Bookkeeper."
After all, no other Bookkeeper in the entire history of the Sherwood Clan had been given the chance to see a world where the Devil existed.
But, of course, Noel was scared.
[If humankind ended now, then I’d be the last Bookkeeper of my clan.]

[THEY’RE dead.]
Solaris frowned when he arrived at the royal palace with Mikhail Denver, and they were greeted by hundreds of dead bodies.
Anyway, they left the Tiger in the capital to protect and guide the citizens.
"They were killed," Solaris commented. "All at once."
Mikhail Denver, the leader of the Fire Wielders that were created to replace the Fire Mages in the empire, scowled and nodded in agreement with what Solaris said. "It seems like they died when the ancient magic circle was activated."
It wasn’t surprising that the Fire Wielder had come up with that conclusion.
[As Fire Mages often say, we are still mages. And it seems like the Fire Wielders were also educated in magic.]
"Activating the ancient magic circle may have required human lives as a sacrifice," Solaris said while walking in the hallway that led to the throne room. It was where they could feel the strong negative energy of two people. "The empire is going to fall soon. But I guess that’s the least of your worries right now, Captain."
"Of course," Mikhail Denver said, clenching his jaw. "I don’t care if the empire falls down. I just want to save as many people as possible."
As expected of the person that the Supreme trusted.
Solaris’ thoughts were interrupted when Mikhail Denver finally opened the doors to the throne room.
As expected, the two people with dark energy were Aku Moonchester and Kyro.
[The Moon God is using a temporary shell.]
Solaris recognized the danger of the situation they were in.
He and Mikhail Denver were only there to look for Miss Luna’s sister. But they didn’t expect to find Aku Moonchester and Kyro there.
[Although me and the captain won’t be enough to fight the two, we still have to try.]
"Ah, Captain Denver," Aku Moonchester greeted the Fire Wielder, laughing as if he just found something funny in that situation. "Is it safe to assume that you’ve just committed treason?"
"You’re the one who committed treason, Your Majesty," Mikhail Denver growled at the emperor. "You no longer have the right to sit on the throne."
"That’s fine with me," Aku Moonchester said nonchalantly. "I’m done playing emperor anyway. Moreover, once the humankind perished, there will be no need for an empire, right?"
That was true.
"I don’t have time to play with you," Aku Moonchester said, raising a hand. "Now, do me a favor and die."
Solaris pushed Mikhail Denver aside and raised his hand.
Aku Moonchester threw a ball of Hellfire at them.
It was not something that a Fire Wielder could handle.
Hence, Solaris took it upon himself to block Aku Moonchester’s Hellfire with his red flame.
The impact was so powerful that it pushed him back, but he gritted his teeth and used both of his hands to fight back.
"Lord Fire Archmage!" Mikhail Denver yelled while running towards him. "Watch out!"
It was already too late, though.
BLERGH.
Solaris coughed up a good chunk of blood, a hand pierced through his chest.
It was Kyro’s hand...
... and the Moon God held the Fire Archmage’s heart.

[IT’S going to break!]
Luna was tempted to stop deactivating the ancient magic circle in order to help Noel Sherwood.
After all, the barrier that the captain made was almost breaking.
[We’ll die if we get hit by the White Snake’s demonic energy...]
Whether she stopped deactivating the ancient magic circle or not, the Ancient Crades would still break out if she died.
[I’m sorry...]
"Luna, don’t stop."
Huh?
[That voice...!]
Luna looked up at the sky and smiled in relief when she saw that familiar pair of black flaming wings. "Tilly!"
