As Netherius' battle against Dante and Asphodel continued, the bone dragon and the mysterious scaled man fought high up in the sky.

Even though the dragon was the size of a five-story building, the 7-foot-tall man was able to fight on equal terms with the beast.

While the bone dragon unleashed its destructive breath aimed at its opponent, the scaled man was able to deflect it with his forearm, sending the powerful beam to the ground and leaving trails of destruction all over the city.

"That's quite the powerful demon you summoned!" Netherius commented while raising a wall of bones to protect him from Asphodel's range attacks.

"And here I thought you didn't like to rely on demons," he continued.

"Yeah, well… Times change," Dante replied, trying to land a punch on Netherius, which was blocked by a wall of bones that appeared between them.

The necromancer seemed to be enjoying himself in a strange way, but in the midst of their battle, he sensed that there was something wrong with one of his Death Knights.

Since Netherius had a contract with his subordinates, he was able to feel the connection between them, and when he felt one of those threads snapping, his expression changed from a grin to a frown.

The distraction was enough to allow Dante to shorten the distance and strike Netherius in the gut with a strong fist, making the necromancer cough as the force pushed him back.

*Tch!* "Isidor, Vesnia!" Netherius shouted right before Asphodel could follow up with an attack of her own.

Not even a second after his call, the death ichor around them began to swirl into a vortex, materializing the undead holy knight.

'This guy again…' Dante thought.

In the blink of an eye, Isidor rushed forward with his longsword towards Dante, who gritted his teeth and jumped to the side to avoid getting skewered.

"Rapture," the warlock chanted, prompting the Death Knight to defend himself from the invisible slice spell.

Without uttering a word, Isidor continued relentlessly trying to attack Dante, separating him from Netherius. Nevertheless, the warlock wasn't fighting alone.

As Dante's attention was placed on the Death Knight, Asphodel dropped down from the roof of a building with her Mythic Relic at the ready, making the angered Netherius leap back.

The vampire mother didn't stop and bit her finger, letting a small drop of blood leak out.

When she waved her hand sideways, the small drop elongated and turned as solid as a whip, lashing everything before the vampire with a quick and random pattern, which was almost impossible to evade completely.

Each lash of the blood whip was able to easily cut through the street's asphalt, and since Netherius seemed to be slightly confused about something, the whip struck his face, leaving a long, bloody mark on his right side.

"Where the hell is Vesnia!?" Netherius shouted, ignoring the fact that he had been hit by the whip.

His shout caught Dante's attention, and he smirked with a bit of satisfaction when he realized that Vesnia had disobeyed the necromancer.

Netherius had only called upon his Death Knights since he felt that something was wrong, though he never expected that one of his undead would be able to betray him.

"I see… That feeling was 'insubordination.' No wonder it felt new to me," Netherius said, suddenly calming down.

"I suppose this encounter can wait…" he continued, preparing himself to leave the area.

Still, before Netherius could use the death ichor to transport him to Vesnia's location, Asphodel kept pursuing him by shooting destructive red waves of magic from her rapier.

"Where do you think you are going!? We just got started!" The vampire mother shouted, continuously barraging the necromancer with her attacks.

While Netherius could quickly cast his teleportation spell inside his necropolis, the man still needed a few seconds of focus to use it, and Asphodel wasn't giving him even half a second to think.

As the vampire mother continued relentlessly chasing him with a grin on her face, the necromancer's patience reached its boiling point, making him sharpen his eyes while glaring at Asphodel with a menacing stare.

"Enough!" He shouted, loud enough for Dante and Isidor to hear from the adjacent block.

"You are just an invader in MY home. Don't get so full of yourself, vampire…" Netherius continued.

Asphodel stopped in her tracks after the shout, knowing that carelessly approaching him wasn't a good idea. However, she couldn't simply let him leave.

Tightly gripping the hilt of her rapier, Asphodel's red eyes began to glow as her fangs extruded out of her mouth. Then, she squatted slightly as if preparing herself to run forward.

In return, Netherius calmly stood on the same spot while dozens of magic circles materialized around him in the air.

The moment that Asphodel took a quick step forward, a barrage of bone shards began to rain all over her, prompting her to focus on deflecting as many as possible.

The bone shards were as sharp as knives, and while the vampire mother received a few cuts, she was able to evade all of the lethal attacks directed at her.

Preparing herself to counter, Asphodel unleashed a torrent of blood that went straight for Netherius at the speed of a bullet.

Nevertheless, the necromancer's body was already slowly disappearing from the area, and right as the vampire's projectile struck his shoulder, he was whisked away.

*Tch* "Coward…" Asphodel muttered.

When the woman turned to check on Dante, she saw the warlock calmly approaching, explaining that Isidor disappeared along with Netherius.

"That Holy Knight seemed a little different from a few hours ago…" Dante commented.

"How so?" Asphodel asked, still annoyed at the necromancer's escape.

"I don't know. He looked more… dead?" Dante replied with uncertainty.

"I mean… He IS dead," the vampire clarified.

"Yeah, but this time, he didn't even say anything. He was a bit more talkative when I encountered him before," the warlock explained.

"Well, whatever. I managed to get some of my blood on him. Wanna chase him down?" The vampire mother asked.

Thanks to her abilities, Asphodel was able to track the scent of her own blood. Even if it was just a mere drop, she could easily locate it from hundreds of kilometers away.

"Let's not waste any more time, then," Dante confidently replied.
