Modern Cultivation : The Strongest Couple Bonded by Vampire System-Chapter 700: Don’t Kil Me
"Who’s the current Patriach of Varn family?"
There’s just no way Varyn is the current patriach.
He doesn’t even shrae his last name with them.
Alex suspected than he marry into the family, or at least adopted.
Then Varyn spoke again. "You’re smart. Why don’t we both take a step back from this?"
Alex leaned back, than let out a chuckle. "A step back? That’s already too late. The moment you make a move to that company, your fate already sealed.."
Rovan was still on the floor. His hands were pressed against the cracked tile.
He didn’t dare look up.
Varyn continued, "If you want an explanation, I can give you one. How about we meet up."
Alex’s eyes narrowed slightly. "Your Patriach or Darius."
A pause.
"Why not me?" Varyn said.
Alex’s smiled "Does Darius answers to you?"
"No," Varyn said. "Darius answers to the family. Same as me."
"Than you’re nothing more than the family dog," Alex said. "Do you think you had the authority to negotiate with me?"
Another pause.
"Both of them are not in the capital," Varyn said. "As for Darius he left the planet after the incident."
"You mean after he scammed Beatrice’s family? Or After the pandemic?"
"After things got noisy."
Alex’s gaze flicked to Rovan.
Rovan shivered and quickly lowered his head again.
"Noisy means, he also related to the pandemic."
Varyn’s voice turned sharper. "Please be careful Sir Edard. If you keep pushing, you’ll force us to treat you as a threat."
Alex laughed, but it was colder this time.
"Treat me as a threat?" Alex said. "Are you not treating me as one already?
Look I don’t care on lapdog.
What I care about is the one giving orders."
Varyn exhaled. The mic picked up the sound.
"Our goal with beatrice company is never about the election," Varyn said.
Alex’s eyes sharpened. "Then what was it about?"
Varyn’s answer came after a long pause.
"A list," he said.
Alex’s fingers stopped moving.
"A list of what?" Alex asked.
Varyn didn’t answer right away. When he did, his tone was careful.
"Names," Varyn said. "People who will be useful for us."
Alex’s eyes turned cold. He realized the scam that Varn family pull on Beatrice were just to unite a group of people.
It’s a case let’s let’s cooperate but before that let’s do something bad first so we both have each other throat.
Another example would be like conspiracy theory that a group of elite people, joined a group by doing a disgusting act that could never be told to the public.
By doing this, they could trust each other.
As if one of them betray them, they will also be destroyed.
"So Beatrice’s family was just collateral."
Varyn didn’t deny it. "If you want to call it that."
Alex stared at the bracelet on the table, then glanced at Rovan.
Rovan looked like he wanted to vanish.
Alex spoke slowly. "And Darius was the one responsible of this?"
"He was one of them," Varyn said.
Alex’s voice dropped. "Who is above him."
Varyn went quiet.
Alex waited.
Rovan’s nails dug into the floor. He was shaking so hard his shoulders quivered.
Then Varyn finally said, "That’s not a name I can say over a line."
"Then we do this in person," Alex said. "You, me, and your patriach."
Varyn’s voice hardened. "Why would we do that?"
Alex’s eyes flicked to Rovan.
Rovan immediately stiffened.
Alex spoke casually, "Cause your beloved nephew is in my hand. And if you reject it, I will come to your house."
He lifted his hand.
Rovan flinched and curled inward like he expected to be crushed again.
Alex smiled seeing it, as he didn’t plan to crush him at all.
He just rested his palm on the table.
"Here’s my term," Alex said. "You tell me what I want to know. If you don’t, I will start with your nephew hand."
Rovan choked. "Uncle-"
Varyn cut him off. "Shut up."
Alex’s gaze stayed cold. "One more thing."
Varyn didn’t respond.
Alex continued. "You said General Kael doesn’t want conflict because the election is near."
Alex leaned forward slightly.
"But what he desire doesn’t mean what I desire. We maybe in same group, but we are just cooperating."
Varyn was silent for a long time.
Then he finally answered.
"Does this mean you’re rethinking your options?" Varyn asked
Alex smiled. He still need to throw some bait to pull these people out.
As for coming to their house, Alex could do it, but this will trigger too much problem.
He would like to avoid it if he can.
"Who knows."
He lifted his hand again.
Rovan screamed before anything even happened.
The sound was raw and desperate, and it filled the sealed room.
Alex’s eyes stayed calm.
"Three days," Alex said. "Inform me where we are meeting.
And tell the one above you this.
It’s fine to play politics.
But if he touches my people again, I will tear this whole things out by the roots."
The call ended.
The bracelet went silent.
Rovan was still screaming, even though Alex hadn’t moved at all.
Alex watched him for a moment, then spoke.
"Get up," he said.
Rovan’s scream cut off into a choking sob.
He stared up at Alex, shaking, waiting for the next sentence like it was a verdict.
Alex’s eyes were calm.
"What should I do with you now? I certainly couldn’t let you return home."
Rovan’s face drained of color.
He crawled forward on his hands.
"Sir Edward... please," he said, voice cracking.
"I swear I won’t say anything. I won’t even look for you again."
Alex didn’t answer. His gaze turned colder spreading killing intent.
Knowing trying to negotiate for him to be freed is impossible, Rovan swallowed hard and bowed his head to the floor.
"I can do anything Sir Edward," Rovan said quickly.
"If you tell me to kill someone I will kill. If you tell me to kneel I will kneel."
He lifted his head, eyes red.
"I know you think I’m trash," he rushed out.
"I am. I admit it. I was stupid. I got arrogant. I talked big."
His hands trembled as he pressed his forehead to the tile again.
"But I’m useful. I could proof it to you."
