They climbed the walls instead, crawling along pipes and hanging sections of rebar, trying to drop onto the roof.

Alex watched the ceiling. "They’re changing tactics."

Jorrent’s voice stayed flat. "Then we shoot the ceiling."

One of the heavy gunners stood up, and fired upward.

The thick rounds tore into the pipe clusters, smashing insects mid-drop and shredding the ones clinging to the ceiling.

Black fluid splashed down like rain.

The water turned darker, and the stink got worse.

The SUV pushed deeper, and the tunnel markings changed.

Formation symbols appeared on the walls, spaced like warning signs.

Mingyue’s gaze sharpened."Seem we are close."

Alex nodded.

Jorrent tapped the feed on his tablet.

A drone view popped up, showing a side corridor ahead, filled with swarm of insects.

"That’s our first checkpoint," Jorrent said. "Driver, slow down. We’re going down."

The driver’s eyes widened. "Dismount here?"

Jorrent looked up. "The road ahead is blocked we need to clear it up? Get ready. "

The SUV slowed, and the mounted guns didn’t stop firing.

The lane ahead opened for a few meters, then closed again as more bodies rushed in.

Jorrent stood. "Two teams. Left wall, right wall. We walk the SUV through and keep it moving."

A soldier swallowed. "Captain, if we get swarmed..."

"You shoot until you’re empty," Jorrent replied. "Then you use the qi."
