Chapter 646: True Form

The pressure around Saryx sharpened, and the light compressed into a thin, deadly point.

SWOSH!!!

Another blast erupted.

Alex and Mingyue moved as one.

Mingyue cut a purple line, then another, she tore a rift wide enough for both of them.

Alex grabbed her wrist and stepped through with her.

The beam chased them across the clearing like a sweeping blade.

Every time it passed, the land behind them vanished into powder and smoke, leaving a smooth scar that still hissed with violent energy.

Alex’s grip tightened on his warhammer.

’Since it disperse all my formation and any type of energy...’

He made a decision.

Alex raise his hand and threw the warhammer straight at Saryx’s back.

It spun like a falling star, runes flashing across the hammer head as it cut through the air.

Saryx turned his head.

He shifted one step, and the edge of his breath grazed the hammer.

The warhammer did not explode. It did not crack.

It simply turned to dust, erased in a silent wave, the runes dissolving first, then the metal itself, until nothing remained.

Alex’s heart clenched.

That weapon had been with him for a long time, but he did not hesitate.

He had thrown it because he needed it now.

A roar came from inside the fading blast.

A red fire fox sprang out of the smoke, its body half-formed, made of soul.

It landed between Alex and Saryx, fur burning like a living torch, eyes locked on the dragon prince.

Alex lifted his hand and drew a rune in the air.

The symbol sank into the fox’s body, and its body turned more solid.

Alex started pouring qi and lifeforce into it.

"As expected, you can’t disperse a soul," he muttered. "Sorry, foxy, but I need to fight for us."

The fox grew.

Its limbs become more muscular, claws digging into the ground.

One tail became three, then five, then nine, the flames ignited into whie ember that burned in the air.

A giant nine-tailed fire fox stood in front of him, heat rolling off its body in waves.

Saryx’s eyes narrowed for the first time.

The nine-tailed fox moved.

BOOM!!!

It charged into the path of the breath and forced its way through.

The beam slammed into it and tried to shred it, but it could not disperse a soul.

The fire fox flared harder as Alex fed it more.

The fox pushed forward step by step, then crashed into Saryx head-on.

BOOM!!!

The clash sent a ring of pressure across the clearing.

Saryx was pushed back, and his breath tilted for a moment, carving a fresh scar across the ground as it swept off target.

His violent aura surged, trying to tear the fox apart.

The aura shredded the air around it, but the fox’s body held and keep moving.

Mingyue make her move.

A purple line appeared behind Saryx, and she stepped out of it .

Her twin swords lifted, and ice lotuses bloomed in a circle around her.

"Thousand Lotus Voidfrost Burial."

The lotuses shot out like rain.

Each lotus carried a thin space cut inside it, and when they struck around Saryx, the space stiffened, then froze, like the world had been nailed down.

Saryx’s breath wavered for the first time.

Purple ice spread over his scales in layers, growing like lotus petals.

It climbed his shoulders, wrapped his ribs, then sealed around his throat and jaw from behind.

The breath turned unstable as the passage tightened while it was still forcing its way out.

The beam flickered, its edge twisting, then narrowing.

The nine-tailed fox dashed forward.

It snapped its jaws and bit into Saryx’s neck, deep enough that the scales cracked and sparked.

White flame poured into the wound, holding him in place while that trapped breath kept compressing.

Saryx’s violent energy surged, trying to erase the lotus prison, but it was pushed back by the firefox.

"Close!"

With MingYue’s word, the lotus petal begin to close locking Saryx inside it.

The beam collapsed in an instant.

Then the trapped breath detonated.

BOOOOM!!!

The explosion happened inside the ice lotus. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶

Purple petals lit up from within, cracks racing across them like glass, and a muffled shockwave slammed outward.

The lotus held for a heartbeat, then burst apart into a storm of purple shards and black-green vapor.

The ground ripped in a wide ring, the new regrown trees at the edge snapped and fell, and the earth rolled like it had been hit by a giant fist.

When the smoke thinned, the nine-tailed fox staggered back, flames flickering.

Saryx stood in the center. Purple frost clung to his scales in broken patches, and the bite mark on his neck steamed, a thin line of dark blood hissing as it hit the air.

His eyes lifted to Alex and Mingyue. He smiled, slow and sharp.

"HAHAHAHA... to think two pests like you could force me into this state. The dragon race truly has fallen."

"What do you mean by that?" Alex asked.

"Our Overlord is nothing more than a puppet. More than half is already under the control of another." Saryx’s grin widened. "And now I even need to use my true form against two pests like you!"

’A puppet?’

Alex and Mingyue were stunned. They looked at each other, and both of them realized it at the same time.

"There’s only one group that can control the Dragon Federation like that." Alex’s voice turned cold.

"The Primordial!" they said in unison.

"Hehehe. So they’re called the Primordial?" Saryx chuckled.

"Interesting. It seems you both know something about them."

His eyes sharpened. "I’ll make sure to dig that information out of your heads."

As he spoke, Saryx’s body began to grow.

The dark scales on his arms spread across his chest, then crawled over his shoulders.

His bones cracked under the pressure.

His neck thickened, and his jaw lengthened as rows of sharper teeth pushed out.

The ground trembled as his feet widened into massive claws.

His spine arched, and a large tail burst out behind him, smashing the cracked earth and sending chunks of stone rolling.

Then wings tore out from his back.

One pair unfurled first the membrane black and veined with violent energy.

A second pair followed, ripping free, spreading wider than the first and pushing down a blast of wind that flattened the grass and blew dust into Alex’s face.

The violet lines in the air twisted, like they were being squeezed by something.

Alex’s eyes narrowed. The fire fox roared toward the four winged black dragon.

Mingyue took a half step forward, twin swords raised, purple ice crawling up the blades.

Saryx’s massive head lowered. His reptilian eyes locked onto them.

"Now, it’s time to finish this play."
