Modern Cultivation : The Strongest Couple Bonded by Vampire System-Chapter 588: Weird Stag
The weird stag had four forelegs and two rear legs, all ending in hooked claws.
A long tail dragged behind it, ending in a cluster of crystalline thorns.
Alex could feel the pressure coming out of it.
"A distortion field? Is that a modified anomaly beast?"
The creature lowered its head.
Its antlers flared.
The space between them compressed.
Alex’s vision snapped, as if the distance suddenly shortened.
The monster vanished.
Then it reappeared right in front of him.
Its claws swiped down like a judgment sword.
Alex grinned.
It had been a while since he saw a monster interesting enough to be captured.
He sidestepped, then flame ignited around his hand.
BOOM!
He punched forward, releasing a shockwave that destroyed the surrounding trees.
But the stag was unscathed.
Alex could feel the space between him and the stag distort, making his fist unable to reach it.
’It can control space to this extent?’
Alex jumped back as the stag kicked with its rear leg.
The air hissed where the kick passed, cutting a clean line through drifting fog.
The stag’s antlers began to glow again.
Alex didn’t hesitate.
He spun his body in the air and looked back at the empty space that had already begun to distort.
’You may be able to teleport, but you’re still predictable.’
He took out his hammer and began gathering qi into it, augmented by lifeforce.
A fierce flame spread from the head, twisting into a tight spiral as if it was being locked in place.
His other hand drew a rune in the air, sealing the distortion in that area.
The stag was forcefully pulled from its pocket space, appearing right in front of Alex.
It tried to twist away, but the sealed space dragged it back into a fixed line.
The fire hammer was already waiting.
BOOM!!!
The stag screamed in pain as the hammer tore through its dark bark and crystal.
The flame ignited on contact, raising the temperature even further and engulfing the whole creature.
It thrashed wildly, trying to reopen a escape angle.
But the rune held, and the distortion field around its body flickered and cracked.
Alex took out a cube, preparing to capture the creature.
The cube’s surface lit up with tight lines of containment runes.
"Got you."
He flicked the cube toward the stag, making it shoot like a bullet in a straight line.
The stag seemed to sense danger. Its long tail moved like a whip, and its crystalline thorns smashed through the awecube.
Alex clicked his tongue. ’Seems I need to strengthen my awecube.’
He raised his hammer again and appeared in front of the stag.
"Die!"
Flame ignited around the hammer as he smashed it down.
The stag had too many strange powers, so Alex decided to play it safe.
He would kill this one first, analyze its abilities, then capture the next one.
The hammer shattered the bark and crushed part of its internal organs.
The stag yelped in pain, then its tail began to glow.
Alex’s hair stood on end. His ability screamed warnings.
A ninety-eight percent probability. The stag was about to explode and release its crystal thorns.
And based on his instincts, these thorns were not normal.
Alex leaped backward without hesitation, then used the momentum to push even farther away.
BOOM!!!
The tail erupted. The crystal thorns launched like rockets.
But they moved like homing missiles, curving toward Alex in a tight swarm.
With their number and speed, he knew dodging everything was impossible.
So he chose to fight.
’First, let me find out what kind of effect you have.’
He took out another awecube and flicked it forward to meet one of the crystal thorns head-on.
Swosh!
The crystal imploded.
A violent distortion swallowed the awecube whole, leaving nothing behind.
Alex frowned. "Isn’t that too overpowered?"
He was confident in his strength, but taking that many implosions head-on would still hurt.
He raised his hammer again, flames roaring to life.
At the same time, he released several monsters he had captured inside the awecubes.
"Come out, all of you!"
The monsters roared and unleashed their strongest attacks, crashing into the crystal thorns.
The moment the thorns touched anything, they detonated.
’As expected. They explode as long as they hit something.’
Alex’s eyes sharpened.
"Come back, all of you!"
He barked the order and pulled the monsters back into the cubes before they could be wiped out.
Then he drew several runes in the air and slammed his hammer into the ground.
BAM!!!
The earth split.
A long horizontal crack opened in front of him.
Flames burst from the fissure, rising into a roaring wall of fire.
The wall of flame clashed with the implosions head-on.
Each crystal thorn that touched the fire detonated early, its distortion chewing the flames.
The fire wall kept burning, but the ground beneath it cracked from the pressure.
The explosions came in waves.
Some thorns punched holes through the heat, but the runes stabilized the barrier long enough for Alex to reposition.
The last few detonations faded into scattered sparks and warped air.
Dust and ash drifted down.
Alex lowered his hammer and narrowed his eyes.
The stag was still there, barely clinging to life.
Black blood seeped into the dirt.
It was dying.
But didn’t give up.
It lifted its head with a trembling, stubborn pride.
Alex swear at that moment the Stag were gloating at him.
It opened it’s jaw, then it let out a loud cry.
The violet fog around them resonated with the cry.
It suddenly swelled in size, rolling outward like a living sea.
The space begin to twist..
A portal tore open inside the fog.
Another stag stepped out.
Two stag, three stag, four, the number keep rising.
The dying stag seem unsatisfied, so ti let out another roar using all it’s energy.
It fall dead after the roar, but the violet fog react.
The portals widened again.
The dozens stag became a hundred.
The forest floor shook under hooked claws and crystalline tails.
Distortion fields overlapped until the air itself felt unstable.
Alex stared at the tide of monsters.
A slow smile spread on his face.
He let out a dry laugh.
"Bring it on."
