MMORPG: Rebirth Of The Strongest Assassin-Chapter 78: Errors
If anyone were to be in Yone’s spot right now, he would immediately report a bug upon confirming the description was off. However, when it came to Yone, he was better to know that AI making mistakes is laughable.
In fact, it would be easier and make even more sense for him to believe that an NPC is a reincarnated hidden player than to believe that the AI made a mistake.
It was that trust that reached a terrifying degree that he could keep going with the quest despite the obvious ’mistakes’ in its description.
To be more precise, everyone in the mid-game after seven years from now, knew such information, and none ever doubted the AI nor reported a bug or a hacker or anything of that sort.
From astronomical money and cold conversion, to players having astonishing attributes...players never thought it was a bug after a few months into the game, but just accepted it as reality.
The entire premise of Eclipse Online being a better version of End World will simply shift into a whole different unified thought.
Eclipse Online wasn’t a mere game!
Stepping inside the store, Yone stopped at a round table with a man hidden behind a mask that held a dagger in his hand, skillfully playing with it and from time to time licking its tip from the mask’s mouth gap as if he was enjoying that action itself.
’Assassin boss or what?’ Yone couldn’t help but feel a bit of pressure, but still followed the man’s gesture for him to sit across him.
"The Assassin Brotherhood," A man’s voice, deep and eerie, sounded from behind the mask, creeping even Yone.
’Let the quest begin.’ Knowing that the script had started, Yone held his breath and listened very carefully to his words.
"The Assassin Brotherhood is no mere organization, adventurer. If you wish to support the Royal Palace and get rid of their enemies or allies, then prove your worth and finish the quest I’ll give you," The man took a small piece of paper from his pocket and pushed it in front of Yone.
’A test? Is this where I either accept or deny?’ Yone held his breath even firmer as his eyes almost popped out of their sockets seeing the quest contents.
Well, the quest was basically a literal mission: do it or leave it.
Finishing it equals rewards, failing it equals penalties.
It’s just that both left Yone astonished.
System quest: Test of the Assassin’s Crown Order.
Description: Place four flags at the exactly appointed red dots on your map and protect Golden Card City from beast waves.
Rewards: The choice of selecting one item from our warehouse.
Penalties: Crippled for fourteen days.
Abandon!
The mission was simple and the Abadon button was even present, however Yone hesitated.
Despite how easy the mission was, he felt that something was amiss.
’Remember Yone, cmon remember,’ He held his forehead and uttered," Give me a minute to think about it."
The masked man just nodded his head, seemingly expecting such a response.
’I can’t remember any details about danger beyond level 10 except the bandits, there is no way this mission is so hard that the penalties and rewards are this crazy.’
’Something is missing, but I can’t place my finger on it.’
After tens of seconds of thinking, Yone came to an abrupt wall and decided to ignore recalling such a detail. Right now, he wished no more than his memory to be immortal and to recall every small detail in his past life, but he knew such a thing was impossible.
Smirking, he asked a question," The vault, which one are you referring to?"
The masked man’s body shook for a moment before he replied with a gentler voice than his initial one.
"Not bad, from all the questions people ask, you jumped to that one. You already surpass the others before you in terms of intelligence," The masked man commanded, pleased with his question.
’Huuh? What kind of questions did people before me ask, and what do you mean by people before me anyway?!’ Yone didn’t know what the man was saying, but he just played along and waited for his response.
"I’m an envoy of the Royal Palace indeed, but the vault I’m referring to is related to our Assassin’s Crown Order."
"We’re not as big and wealthy, but it’s something someone of your strength would kill just to take a glance at it, much less choose an item."
Yone nodded his head and asked again, but before he could speak, the marked man raised his hand and two fingers.
"Two more questions left, and then make your decision."
He hesitated a bit but decided to ask anyway.
"You said those before me, who took the mission before me?"
’It couldn’t be players right?’ That thought was absurd for anyone in his current standing, but knowing that things were ever changing, Yone began expecting everything to occur.
"Those are the ?????...?????!!!??"
Several question marks kept appearing, and the man’s mouth was opening and closing with his tongue moving, yet the language he was speaking was completely alien to Yone; it was like the image he once saw of everything detonating into data in the black market.
’Damn it, I wasted one question for no reason,’ He cursed as the man dropped one finger after finishing speaking.
Ask a good question, Yone!
"What kind of dangers can I expect in the mission?" Finding no alternatives, he asked the usual question anyone would ask in his place.
Dragging this on and thinking about a smart question might lead to a similar glitch or whatever that was, and his last question being wasted, hence, he played it safe.
Hearing his question, the masked man clapped his hands after placing the dagger from his right hand and spoke," His voice is even nicer, and it made Yone feel like they had been acquaintances for a long time."
’Such control of his tone, truly formidable. Is this the assassin on the side of NPCs?’ Yone felt truly awed by the masked man before him, and even wanted to try and imitate how he controlled his tone when he logged off.
My question is...
