MMORPG: I was BUGGED-Chapter 293: Frozen Respite
The battle had been fierce, with the clash of swords and the explosive spells echoing through the Castle of Doom.
Xavour, the Plague Bringer, had proved to be a challenging adversary for the assembled players.
Guild leaders and their teams fought valiantly, coordinating their attacks and strategies to bring down the monstrous foe.
As the battle reached its climax, Xavour sensed its impending defeat, and unleashed its devastating Last Stance Mode.
The air crackled with energy as the boss prepared to make its final stand. The ground beneath Xavour trembled, and an ominous dark aura enveloped its massive form. 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
The players braced themselves for the unknown, their weapons at the ready.
In a sudden burst of energy, Xavour’s Last Stance Mode erupted like a giant bob of sticky dark goo. It spewed forth, covering everything in its path.
The leaders, players, and even some of the support team in the battlement found themselves coated in the thick, clinging substance.
It oozed over armor, weapons, and faces, creating an unsettling scene.
But strangely, the players didn’t mind the gooey material on their faces; in fact, a sense of relief and triumph filled the air.
Xavour was finally defeated! He was no more to be seen and the players echoed with the cheers of the victorious players.
However, the guild leaders noticed something amiss — the expected notification of victory didn’t ring through the horizon.
High above the battlefield, Xin and Hilda, perched on the Bell Tower, sensed that something was wrong. The air felt heavy with tension, and an unsettling silence lingered.
"Something is wrong . . . ," Hilda muttered.
Xin nodded and replied, "Xavour shouldn’t have exploded into nothingness without doing something in its Last Stance Mode."
As they exchanged glances, the distant screams of agony reached their ears. Alarmed, they turned their gaze toward the battlefield below.
To their horror, they witnessed a nightmarish sight. The players who had been struck by the icky substance were slowly being covered by it.
The goo clung to their bodies, encasing them entirely in a sticky, dark cocoon. Their health points rapidly dwindled, and within moments, they disintegrated into particles, leaving behind only echoes of pain and despair.
The goo, now free of its previous hosts, bounced on the ground, seeking new targets.
Panic spread among the remaining players as they realized the gravity of the situation.
They engaged the sticky substance in a desperate attempt to defend themselves, but to their dismay, all attacks proved futile. The goo seemed impervious to damage, mocking their efforts to resist its deadly advance.
Those who had only a small amount of the substance on their skin soon discovered the insidious nature of the goo.
It grew and crawled slowly, like a relentless predator, until it completely enveloped its victims. The unlucky players struggled in vain, unable to break free.
No matter how much they fought against it, the goo clung tenaciously, sealing their fate as it consumed them from the outside in.
The once victorious battlefield had turned into a scene of despair and chaos.
Guild leaders urgently communicated with each other, attempting to formulate a plan to contain the spreading threat.
Xin and Hilda, perched on the Bell Tower, and realized that the battle was far from over. The true challenge had just begun, and the fate of their success hung in the balance as the relentless goo sought new hosts to devour.
"What are they?" Xin asked, his voice filled with bewilderment.
The unfolding catastrophe had caught everyone off guard. The unpredictability of a boss’s Berserk and Last Stance Mode left even the most seasoned players in the dark, and this time, the consequences seemed dire.
Xin couldn’t shake the feeling that defeat might be inevitable on the sixth day, thanks to this unexpected turn of events.
With a sense of urgency, Xin activated [Appraisal] on the gooey substance that now spread relentlessly, seeking out new hosts after consuming its previous victims.
The information that appeared on his interface left him perplexed, as there was no indication of a weakness or strategy to defeat it, except for one critical piece of information — the name Xavour.
So, it’s still alive . . . Xin thought to himself.
"What do we do with this?" Xin muttered to himself, his heart pounding. The lack of clear guidance on how to overcome this new threat fueled his growing anxiety.
"These gooey substances are Xavour," Hilda stated solemnly, her eyes fixed on the spreading menace. "It burst into thousands of sticky pieces, attaching to players to regenerate its life. Once it regenerates enough HP, it will take form again."
"Can we defeat it?" Xin asked, his tone urgent.
Hilda nodded, injecting a glimmer of relief into Xin’s mind. "Although they’re impervious to attacks, we need to locate its core and destroy it. That’s the only way to stop them."
Xin’s mind raced, formulating a plan to turn the tide of the battle. "If it doesn’t take damage, what about this . . ."
He gestured to his elemental golems that were parched on the battlements to engage the gooey substances.
As Xin commanded the elemental golems, a palpable tension filled the battlefield. The golems, towering figures of elemental might, moved with an almost ethereal grace.
With a synchronized motion, they released a chilling frosty breath that billowed out in a frigid wave, freezing everything in its path.
The transformation was immediate. The gooey substances, once relentless in their advance, came to an abrupt halt.
The viscous material froze in mid-motion, creating an eerie scene as if time itself had been suspended.
The landscape, once marked by chaos, was now encased in a crystalline frost that sparkled in the dark.
However, victory came at a cost.
The elemental golems’ icy breath not only halted the advance of Xavour’s regenerative spawn but also affected the players caught within its reach.
The freezing cold clung to their armor, weapons, and even their very beings. Some players found themselves immobilized, their movements slowed by the encroaching frost.
In the midst of the temporary respite, Xin and Hilda strategized for the next steps.
The elemental golems, though effective in halting the spread of the gooey substances, faced a dilemma. To maintain the frozen state, they needed to release icy breath periodically, a taxing demand on the Golem’s magical reserves.
