Chapter 212: The Elemental Knight

"O Great Goddess of Dreams, grant your servant a fragment of your divine authority. Let the blood of the knight awaken, let the honor of the knight endure, and let the winds of the sky carry on the legacy. By this oath, I call forth the promotion to Pegasus Knight." 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎

As Mare completed the incantation, a powerful whirlwind erupted into existence. Under his steady control, the vortex expanded rapidly, spinning faster as it drew in energy from the surrounding air.

With the final syllable, the storm surged forward and engulfed Chloe. Her feet left the ground as the wind lifted her into the air, her body swaying within the roaring currents while a bright white light wrapped around her.

A sigil formed on her back, shaped like a swirling gust of wind. In that instant, Chloe no longer looked like an ordinary player. There was a presence about her that felt closer to a battlefield commander than a newcomer.

"To harmonize with the wind element so naturally..." Mare murmured as he studied the sigil. "Her control is exceptional. This level of affinity is extremely rare."

He turned to Marcus, his tone carrying clear admiration. "Stonehaven, your friend has extraordinary potential. With talent like this, she may one day become a Storm Knight."

"A Storm Knight?" Marcus repeated, immediately interested. "What does that mean exactly?"

"Storm Knights are those who do more than ride the wind," Mare explained. "They dominate it. A Storm Knight who reaches full mastery commands the skies themselves."

"And how does someone reach that level?" Marcus asked. If Chloe had that kind of future ahead of her, he wanted to understand it.

Mare shook his head with a faint smile. "That path cannot be taught. It must be discovered. But her natural talent gives her a strong foundation."

He turned back toward Chloe, then suddenly stiffened. His expression darkened.

"Wait. Something isn’t right."

Normally, the promotion would finish within seconds. Yet Chloe had been suspended in the storm for far longer than expected, and instead of weakening, the winds were growing stronger.

The white light surrounding her deepened, slowly shifting toward a violet-red glow. A sharp crackling sound echoed through the air, like electricity building within the storm.

Marcus and Anya exchanged a glance. Seeing the change in Mare’s expression, Marcus felt a tightness in his chest. "Commander, is there a problem?"

"It’s not just wind," Mare shouted over the rising noise, his voice filled with shock. "There’s another element reacting. Fire... or lightning."

An elemental awakening during promotion was normal, but this was different. The storm wasn’t simply revealing Chloe’s affinity. It was pulling something else to the surface.

"It’s lightning," Anya said quietly.

Marcus and Mare both looked at her.

"A few days ago, Chloe met a strange knight," Anya continued. "He told her she had a natural affinity for lightning. He said once she reached Level 30, he could guide her toward becoming a Thunder Knight."

Marcus stared at Chloe, stunned. She had been holding onto a Hidden Class opportunity of her own. And yet, she had set it aside without hesitation.

That realization hit him harder than he expected.

Before he could say anything, the sky above split with a sharp crack.

A bolt of lightning descended and struck directly into the whirlwind. The impact sent electricity coursing through the storm, blending with the wind into a violent surge of violet-red energy that spiraled around Chloe’s body.

The power on display was overwhelming.

Marcus suddenly understood. Chloe’s temperament in the real world matched this perfectly. Quick, sharp, and full of restless energy. Lightning suited her far better than pure wind ever could.

"Dual elements..." Mare whispered, staring in disbelief. "In a century, we have not seen talent like this. If nurtured properly, she will restore honor to the Pegasus Knights."

The storm raged for several more seconds before the sigil on Chloe’s back changed. A streak of purple lightning cut through the center of the white whirlwind, turning the entire mark a vivid red.

"It’s complete," Mare said firmly.

The storm collapsed inward, rushing back into Chloe’s body. The sigil vanished, then reappeared briefly between her brows as a small, intricate mark of wind pierced by lightning before fading from sight.

The air finally settled.

"Chloe, are you okay?" Anya asked, stepping closer.

"Did it work?" Marcus added, watching her carefully.

Chloe’s heart was racing. She could feel Marcus looking at her, and that alone made her flustered. She avoided his eyes and turned toward Anya instead.

"It worked," she said, her voice unsteady. "I gained two innate skills. Whisper of the Wind and Soul of Thunder. I can use both wind and lightning magic, and I’m immune to both elements. All my base stats increased by ten, my Evasion is now double my Agility, and my attack and defense double when I’m fighting while mounted on a Pegasus. There are other class skills too."

Marcus swallowed. That was absurdly strong.

Even he, with his own advantages, couldn’t help feeling a hint of envy. Two innate skills at promotion alone placed her far above most players.

But what caught his attention more was Chloe herself. She wasn’t snapping at him or looking for an argument. She looked... shy.

Marcus felt a spark of excitement.

Between Anya’s quiet warmth and Chloe’s fierce resolve, he felt dangerously fortunate. Things with Anya were complicated, weighed down by the past, but seeing Chloe grow like this stirred something deep in him.

"To awaken dual elements during promotion," Mare said, clearly impressed, "marks you as a true prodigy. Your future has no clear ceiling. One day, you may even reach the rank of Elemental Knight."

The title caught all of them off guard.

"Elemental Knight?" Marcus asked. "What is that?"

"It is a legendary classification within the knight system," Mare explained. "Storm Knight is only one branch."

He paused, then continued, his voice steady. "There are seven known Elemental Knights. Flame Knights, unmatched in offense. Earth Knights, the ultimate defenders. Ironclad Knights, balanced between both. Life Knights, wielders of growth and healing. Ocean Knights, masters of the sea. Sky-Thunder Knights, embodiments of destruction. And Storm Knights, rulers of the skies."

He looked at Chloe, his gaze filled with expectation.

"You have the potential to surpass a single path," he said quietly. "You may one day stand among them... or beyond."
