Mini World Of Endless Fun Awaits-Chapter 178 - Battle of Immortals (Part 2)
Chapter 178 – Battle of Immortals (Part 2)
What was a DotA hero doing in League of Legends?
Xie Qiansi subconsciously thought that it was a special event in League of Legends—perhaps League of Legends and DotA were preparing for collaboration, and the programmer accidentally let the AI character enter their exclusive server during their testing?
However, the colleague who recognized Mercurial looked as if he had seen a ghost. He remarked, “What the hell is this Mercurial though… OMG, it is not even supposed to be so powerful!”
“It has four skills, one Berserker’s Call, two Dispersions, and one Borrowed Time?! Does such a Mercurial even exist?”
Xie Qiansi had only heard of DotA before and did not know much about it. It was only when he read about the skills that Mercurial had that he realized how overly powerful it was—
—The first skill was a multiple-target taunt that disregarded enemies’ immunity to magic.
The second and third skills were passive skills which each reflected 22% of the damage it received—that was a total of 44% reflected damage to surrounding targets.
The fourth skill was easy to comprehend: any damage it received would heal the character instead of harm.
It was essentially an overpowered meat shield that could not be attacked and had two lives. Even if one could defeat it, one would die too!
At that juncture, the opponent team also realized that Xie Qiansi and his team had been completely wiped out for no reason. They asked on the chat:
[Wow, how did you all commit suicide?]
[Amazing! Is there a bug?]
[There’s already 20 kills, just surrender, don’t waste everyone’s time.]
Xie Qiansi quickly typed: [Mercurial appeared on our side and killed all of us! It is moving towards the Great Dragon now!]
[It’s real, if you walk towards the Great Dragon, you will see Mercurial!]
The opponent team was stunned—they were currently attempting to steal the Great Dragon and preparing for a wave against Xie Qiansi’s team. They had no intention of giving them a chance to surrender.
Although they heard the strange news, the opponent team did not stop and continued to fight the Great Dragon.
For some unknown reason, however, the HP of the Great Dragon seemed to be extremely high, and the rate at which it fired battlefield-wide shots was also very fast. The opponent team was very quickly drained of their HP.
“This is impossible, we should be sufficiently leveled to kill the Great Dragon…”
Just as they were about to retreat, they saw a black mist monster appear in the jungle area of their opponents.
“That really is Mercurial!” exclaimed the opponent team who was extremely shocked and quickly took screenshots. They remarked, “Haha, it must be an easter egg in the game. Will we be rewarded with skins if we defeat it?”
“Let’s try!”
Five seconds later, five more dead corpses appeared in the river. All of them died from the group damage rebound.
As they were fighting Mercurial, they realized that their character’s HP was dropping quickly instead and knew that something was not right. They wanted to stop and retreat, but then Mercurial went to fight the Great Dragon at that juncture!
They could not stop the Great Dragon, and its damage was also unexpectedly high. As such, when Mercurial reflected all the damage it was dealt, all of them were killed instead!
Xie Qiansi and his team typed: [See, we didn’t lie. It really is Mercurial.]
The opponent team asked: [It’s true indeed. Is there an ongoing event?]
Xie Qiansi’s team replied: [I don’t know, it’s probably a bug. Don’t push first, let’s see what Mercurial wants to do.]
The opponent team agreed: [Alright.]
However, Xie Qiansi and his team did not have a view of the Great Dragon. With Ezreal’s Arcane Shift ability, he ‘teleported’ near the Great Dragon despite the danger of being killed. He tried to select an area which was as far away as possible from the Great Dragon, but as soon as he landed, he was killed by the reflected damage.
“The reflected damage from Mercurial is insane?!”
Although his game character was killed, Xie Qiansi was not very concerned and was instead attracted to the battle happening in Summoner’s Rift.
The Great Dragon, Baron Nashor, was the strongest wild monster in Summoner’s Rift, apart from the heroes. After killing it, all players of the team would receive a strong buff which could increase the team’s overall power by almost 20%, in addition to money.
Although it sounded very powerful, it was nonetheless only a buff provider on the map. Whether it was Xie Qiansi’s or their opponents’ team, it was actually not difficult for them to kill the Great Dragon if there was no disturbance from their enemies, based on their equipped equipment.
In the same way that Mercurial could ace both teams, Baron Nashor should be an extremely easy target to defeat for Mercurial.
However, the scenes which unfolded before their eyes instantly made them doubt whether they had been fighting against a fake Baron Nashor in the past.
Although it was still in the form of a serpent, Baron Nashor now had many special effects applied to it.
Xie Qiansi was not very proficient at League of Legends, but based on the sound and special effects, it could be deduced that Baron Nashor possessed, at the least, the ‘R’ skill of Olaf, the Berserker, which made it ‘immune to all disables’, the ‘E’ skill of Jax, the Grandmaster at Arms, enabling it to ‘dodge all physical attack’, and the ‘R’ skill of Tryndamere, the Barbarian King, which made it ‘unable to die for the next 5 seconds’!
Furthermore, various types of damage skills were activated almost continuously: [Pillar of Flame], the ‘W’ skill of Brand, the Burning Vengeance, [Curse of the Sad Mummy] the ‘R’ skill of Amumu, the Sad Mummy, and a new fire bear ‘Tibbers’ was summoned every second, which was the ‘R’ ability of Annie, the Dark Child.
At least a dozen skills were activated every second, although Xie Qiansi could not see all of them due to the stacking special effects!
Most importantly, [Astral Infusion], the ‘W’ skill of Soraka, the Star Child, and [Heal], the Summoner Spell constantly applied to Baron Nashor. Its HP remained full all the while!
“First, a bugged Mercurial appeared, and now there is a bugged Great Dragon?” Xie Qiansi and his colleagues questioned. They were shocked, exclaiming, “Who would be able to defeat such a powerful Great Dragon!”
However, Mercurial, who was able to reflect 44% of the damage dealt to it, suddenly increased its size. A golden glow wrapped around it and the spells cast by Baron Nashor against it seemed to take almost no effect!
“BKB, the [Black King Bar], is an Armor item in DotA. It grants the caster Magic Resistance!” Xie Qiansi’s colleague explained. He was very excited and suddenly yelled, “The Black King Bar has been activated for so long, is the effective duration not over yet?”
“The Great Dragon’s spells do not seem to require a cooldown time either.”
“Wait, the Heart of Tarrasque on Mercurial has not been broken, and it is regaining 7% of its HP every second? Oh well, Baron Nashor is not a tank, a defense turret, nor a hero…”
“How did the skills of Mercurial change?”
“Are they two cheats who are fighting?”
The opponent team said: [What the hell, they must be two hackers who hacked their way into the game and are battling here with their cheats.]
Xie Qiansi’s team said: [Quickly record it down, it’s a grand battle between the immortals!]
Xie Qiansi watched the battle between the immortals in the Rift and asked, “Both of their HP is virtually impossible to be depleted. How are they going to decide who wins?”
Mercurial seemed to realize that point and its equipped skills suddenly changed. The next moment, a blue shadow appeared behind the ghost, and an ice ball was launched at Baron Nashor.
“It’s the ultimate skill of Kaldr, the Ancient Apparition!” his colleague exclaimed. He added, “It invalidates all HP recovery effects, and will immediately kill targets if their HP is below a certain limit… But is this effective against Baron Nashor?”
The suddenly reduced HP of Baron Nashor signaled to the watching audience—it was effective!
Upon seeing Baron Nashor’s HP recovery spell finally rendered ineffective, Mercurial launched other skills consecutively, and the figures of other DotA heroes appeared behind it:
[Eclipse], the ultimate skill of Luna, the Moon Rider, which turned the Summoner’s Rift dark, although there was obviously not supposed to be any day or night. Countless beams of light attacked Baron Nashor;
[Global Silencer], the ultimate skill of Nortrom, the Silencer, which stopped all sound on the battlefield. Xie Qiansi and his team who were watching the battle suddenly realized that the game turned completely silent. The battle between Mercurial and Baron Nashor turned into a silent film, and all enemy units on the battlefield were prevented from casting spells.
[Berserker’s Call], the innate skill of Mogul Khan, the Axe, taunted Baron Nashor to only attack Mercurial, and could not do anything else!
[Doom], the ultimate skill of Lucifer, the Doom, prevented the target from using any item. It would have been blocked by Baron Nashor’s equipped Banshee’s Veil, but after it was taunted by the Axe, Banshee’s Veil only took effect once and [Doom] hit Baron Nashor the next time.
Xie Qiansi’s colleague said, “Oh well, the hacker who is controlling Baron Nashor seems to be able to use all the items and all the heroes, but there are no Magic Resistance items in League of Legends, so the hacker controlling Mercurial has seized the opportunity.”
Xie Qiansi asked, “The items in both of the games can be used in either one of them and affect each other?”
“Who knows? We should not attempt to explain the terrifying capabilities of the great hackers using our limited technical knowledge,” his colleague said.
At that juncture, a message appeared at the top of the screens of Xie Qiansi and his team:
[Kill the outsiders immediately. If successful, the players would be rewarded with all heroes and skins they wish to receive!]
Xie Qiansi looked at his colleagues and asked, “Amazing, the hackers can gift us with heroes and skins too?”
The opponent team said: [How can you believe the words of a hacker? Just sit back and enjoy the show, showing off this video is going to be even better than playing Honor of Kings!]
