Mini World Game Console-Chapter 754 - 755 Why are you yelling so loudly?
"It's time to go, Roy."
On March 7th, at the command center of the 'former' ultimate frontline base in Federation Yosemite National Park, Pallbearer Deputy Commander Nash found Roy staring blankly at the sand table. Nash reminded him, "Roy, you need to be present for the handover and change of guard procedure."
"Hmm." Roy rubbed his temples, looked around the empty meeting room, and let out a soft sigh. "Why does the Pallbearer need to be present for the affairs of the military department? Wouldn't it be more appropriate to ask the Watchers instead of us?"
Hearing the resentment in Roy's voice, Nash gave a wry smile. "After all, you were the commander on the ultimate frontline. You also need to transfer your command authority."
This statement hit Roy where it hurt. He tugged at the corner of his mouth and said cynically, "The ultimate frontline, the ultimate frontline... When humanity faced the Otherworldly Invasion, on the brink of catastrophe, I was to lead the great army and the Watchers and Pallbearers into battle at the frontline. I was to repel the enemy, capture their chieftains, and enhance the prestige of our Federation, the prestige of our Pallbearers... Heh."
"The army is in charge of frontal combat. I'm supposed to lead the Watchers and Pallbearers to assassinate the enemy commanders and confront the enemy Transcendents. Then, I would return victorious, completely freeing myself from the disgrace of being imprisoned by Mysterious Country's Great Wall and proving that I am more capable than Angel Zack..."
"The Federation gave me this chance, the President gave me this chance, even Zack passed this opportunity to me, yet, yet…"
Nash let out a sigh. "It's not your fault."
"No one is at fault." Roy forced some spirit into his voice. He stood up, shook his head, and said, "The Fairy Palace World Tree chose the Didra person Los, allowing him to overthrow the Didra Empire and avert this war that had yet to happen. It resulted in no casualties, no sacrifices. How perfect, how grand."
Compared to this, my continued obsession with a war that never broke out really marks me as an incurable war fanatic... Perhaps, that's why I'm a Pallbearer.
Roy looked at Nash and joked, "I'm content with slaying in the dark, in blood, and proud of it."
"Captain, I am proud of it too," said Nash. "Achieving great deeds is our mission, our desire, our drive. There's no shame in that."
"I am not ashamed." Roy shook his head and walked out of the command center with Nash. He looked down at the weeds on the ground and, pointing at them, said, "Look, the grass bends in the direction the wind blows. I used to think of myself as the wind—unique, awakened to Transcendence, burying evil..."
But in reality, I'm just grass. Realizing this is the most painful.
"Eventually, even those from the Fairy Palace World Tree will fall to dust, and we will indeed become the wind that stirs the clouds. Besides, Captain, you are the light," Nash said.
"Enough." Roy chuckled. He saw armored vehicles entering through the base gate and asked, "Is that the new troop for the handover?"
"Yes, they are also in charge of transporting the researchers and their equipment. It looks like Yosemite National Park will no longer be open to the public," Nash said.
The Federation had expended significant efforts to construct a military base in Yosemite National Park, digging trenches and building bunkers. It would be quite a waste if they all went unused.
This is one of the regions where spatial tear phenomena occur most frequently. Scholars believe that the space here—or rather, the network of space composed of Spiritual Energy—is exceptionally weak. This makes it an ideal research base for studying space technology and observing spatial phenomena.
"A research base... that's good too."
Roy looked at the ground covered with spike mines, which used to be the most likely place for enemy forces from the otherworld to arrive. He muttered softly, "It's good to be of use. After all, not every bullet, not every land mine, not every grenade can fulfill its destiny..."
Nash felt a cold sweat hearing this. He had thought Captain Roy's words were just a sort of Japanese teenage angst, only to realize that Captain Roy was truly and thoroughly fierce. Does he really want to see steel triggering bloody carnage in flesh that badly!?
Roy continued, "Last time the enemy from the otherworld arrived, we didn't take it seriously. We weren't prepared. Now if they dare to show up again, the Federal soldiers will show them real power, and we will show them what cruelty is."
Nash shrugged. "The enemy from the otherworld has already been vanquished."
"Yeah, that's why I said if—"
BOOM!
With the huge roaring sound, the earth trembled slightly. Roy and Nash turned their heads and saw a massive black gate suddenly land in the middle of the open ground.
The Federal soldiers, casually chatting about where to relax on their vacation after returning, were so shocked by this sudden and unexpected event that they broke the chocolate rations in their hands.
The scientists and researchers who had just disembarked from their vehicles were left with their thoughts blank, witnessing this extremely rare yet widely known scene.
The Gatekeeper.
The Door of Truth.
Third Army Corps, Watcher Second Team, all Pallbearers.
All these factors combined meant one thing—the Federation would be able to capture the Gatekeeper and seize the Door of Truth!
Roy slapped his hands together sharply, a fervent black gleam flashing in his deathly still eyes.
"The enemy has arrived."
At the same time, the voice of the army commander came through his earpiece: "The 'First Team' of the Third Army Corps will coordinate with you in the attack. Six heavy tank battalions and four mechanized infantry battalions are returning at top speed. Three self-propelled howitzer battalions and one multiple rocket launcher company will carry out indiscriminate shelling! For the glory of the Federation!"
"Understood! For the glory of the Federation!"
Roy laughed arrogantly. "Nash!"
Nash immediately responded, "Within three minutes, all the Pallbearers and Watchers will arrive. Captain Zack has been notified."
"The Door of Truth only appears for a dozen or so minutes each time. Zack might not make it in time." Roy took a deep breath and asked, "Nash, who am I?"
Without hesitation, Nash declared, "You are the captain of the Pallbearers, the blade in the darkness, and the most shining radiance of the Federation!"
"You are Aurora Roy!"
A black brilliance streaked past. Roy transformed into a ray of light that landed in the open ground, facing the Gatekeeper from twenty meters away.
The Gatekeeper was still dressed in a gorgeous set of medieval Victorian-style clothing, exuding the air of a Western magician. He looked at Roy and smiled. "You seem to have no reason to push open the Door of Truth."
Roy asked, "Why push open the Door of Truth? Once the Door of Truth becomes the property of the Federation, it will naturally open to us."
"Aren't you afraid of offending the World Tree?"
"Right now, you have trespassed into a military restricted area of the Federation. We are arresting you, an illegal entrant, according to national law. If the World Tree attempts to interfere with our national affairs over this, then they are nothing but a lawless, anarchist armed group. They will sooner or later continue to interfere in Federation affairs and encroach upon Federation interests!"
Roy's voice grew louder, spreading throughout the base in moments, thundering through the heavens and stirring hearts as he shouted, "If we dare not attack in the face of your illegal acts because you have the shelter of the World Tree—if our Watchers shrink back and we Pallbearers give up for that reason—then what glory does our Federation have to speak of!?"
The Gatekeeper laughed. "But I have seen fourteen million futures, and in none of them do you have any chance of victory."
At that moment, Roy's earpiece transmitted that the military was ready. The reason he had been spouting nonsense to the Gatekeeper for a minute was to allow the soldiers, who had entered a resting state, to return to battle readiness—to load their bullets, set their shells, and prepare for combat!
Roy's eyes locked tightly on the Gatekeeper. A black light emerged from his body, and he used his deafening proclamation as the signal to begin the battle—
"Glory doesn't care whether it can be done, only whether you go and do it!"
Howitzer units, aim at the target!
Rocket artillery units, target coordinates adjusted!
The F-tier Transcendent Soldiers in the trenches, activate 'Eagle Eye' and lock on the target!
The E-tier Transcendent Soldiers in the long-range sniper units invoked spells like 'Trajectory Correction' and 'Blast Enchantment' to strengthen their bullets. The moment a bullet was fired, it would become a shower of flowers and blood upon the target!
C-tier Transcendent, Pallbearer Captain Roy, was ready with his most powerful spell: 'Eternal Night Burial'. It was a blackness deeper than darkness itself, a radiance more dazzling than light. This spell would tear through the skies and, under the watchful eyes of many, shatter the Gatekeeper who haughtily looked down upon the world from his lofty post!
Angel Zack, what was the most exhilarating moment of your life? Was it the night you were thrashed by the Handsome Monkey King? Or the morning you were pounded to the doorstep of Sensoji Temple by the mysterious man? For me, it's right now!
At this critical juncture, the Gatekeeper displayed a charming smile. His lips parted slightly, uttering a sentence that made every Federal person's scalp tingle. It echoed long in their minds, shocking their souls, even piercing their eardrums and churning their brains with a soul-shattering blast of sound—
"Why are you yelling so loudly?"
