Mesmerizing Ghost Doctor-Chapter 5243: Naive
Yue’er nodded and accompanied him to where her master and the Great Emperor Xiao Tian were. After watching them depart, she fell into deep thought, lost in her own musings.
"What are you thinking about?"
Perhaps noticing her furrowed brow and pensive expression, the Azure Emperor inquired.
"Master, Big Brother Xiao told me he likes me," Yue’er said, lifting her gaze to meet his.
Hearing this, the Azure Emperor paused briefly before asking, "And you? Do you care for him?"
Yue’er frowned, pondering for a moment before replying, "I don’t know. But I don’t dislike him."
The Azure Emperor folded his arms behind his back, gazing elsewhere. "In my view, Xiao Junyan is not worthy of you. But if you like him, I won’t stand in your way. All you need to do is follow your heart."
With that, he turned and walked away, his faint voice carried on the wind: "Go back and rest."
Hearing his words, Yue’er stood still, pondering her master’s advice to follow her heart. In the end, she returned to her cave abode first and sent a message to her Mother, wanting to ask her what she should do.
In Yue’er’s cave abode, Feng Jiu smiled after hearing her words. Looking at her confused daughter, she asked, "Then tell Mother—why did you shield him from that attack back then?"
Yue’er shook her head. "I don’t know. At that moment, I only thought I couldn’t let him die because of me."
"Then how do you plan to respond now that he’s confessed his feelings?" Feng Jiu propped her chin in her hand, amused by her daughter’s furrowed brow.
That once-tiny little girl had grown into such a young woman now, and someone had even confessed to her. Watching this unfold as her Mother, Feng Jiu felt a flood of emotions.
"I don’t know how to describe it. When I saw him getting hurt over and over for me in that secret realm, my heart was moved. Especially knowing he liked me all along, just hadn’t said it yet, silently protecting me all this time." She spoke with a hint of conflict.
Feng Jiu smiled. "Girls sometimes easily confuse being touched with being moved."
She paused, then offered a mysterious smile. "Since Xiao Junyan says he likes you, well... Mother will test just how much he truly cares. And see how far he’s willing to go for you."
Yue’er blinked, her eyes brimming with curiosity. "What does Mother plan to do?"
"No rush. You’ll find out soon enough." She chuckled softly, gently tickling her nose. "Here’s the plan: focus on healing first. Your master’s place seems rather lonely, so stay here and keep him company. Your Father and I will head back first. Once we’ve handled this matter, we’ll come back for you."
"Alright." Yue’er nodded. She had wanted to go back with them, but the thought of leaving her master alone on the mountain made her heart ache.
"Take these medicinal pills. Take one each day. You can’t practice cultivation now, so use your free time to practice calligraphy and read books." Feng Jiu instructed, leaving her some restorative pills.
"Mm hmm, Mother, don’t worry. I know!" She nodded with a bright smile, then asked, "Mother, when will you and Father return? And when will you come back for me? When that time comes, can I bring Master to live on the island with us?"
Feng Jiu smiled, pinching her cheek gently. "We’ll let you know when the time comes. As for your Master, if he’s willing, he’s more than welcome to join us anytime."
"Mother, you’re the best!" Yue’er slipped her arms around her waist, burrowing into her embrace with a beaming smile.
