Merchant From Earth in the Magical World-Chapter 433 - 366 Max Manor_1
This Northern European town was sparsely populated, and once the car turned onto the mountain road, it was a long time before they saw another vehicle.
However, the scenery on both sides of the road was extremely charming, with forests, snow-capped mountains, and a small stream running parallel to the road. Sometimes, startled deer could be spotted leaping quickly across the road.
After driving for about an hour, they were very close to the entrance of Baron Max’s private estate.
Lao Guan, Little Li, and Feng Tingyue grew increasingly nervous. To barge in so directly was no different from suicide. The three of them looked back at Yan Xing, who appeared to be resting in the backseat. They wondered where his backup was. If it didn’t show up soon, they would be arriving right on the owner’s doorstep.
"Stop the car!"
Just as they passed a bend in the road, Yan Xing suddenly yelled.
Lao Guan immediately slammed the brakes to the floor.
Feng Tingyue asked, "President Yan, is there a situation?"
Yan Xing opened the car door and jumped out. He first checked the road to his left and right, then said to the people inside, "My people are right behind us. Wait here in the car; I’ll go back and meet them."
With that, Yan Xing closed the car door and walked along the roadside toward the bend.
At this moment, Lao Guan gave Little Li a meaningful look.
But just as Little Li’s hand reached for the door handle, Tong Yitong, seated in the back, said, "President Yan asked us to wait in the car, so we’d better stay put."
Little Li withdrew his hand.
After watching Yan Xing disappear around the corner through the rearview mirror, he said to Feng Tingyue, "Ms. Feng, I can tell you’re one of us, but President Yan and Miss Tong aren’t. Lao Guan and I were temporarily assigned here, and our mission instructions are vague. According to the rules, we aren’t supposed to ask too many questions. But since we’re risking our lives with you, shouldn’t we at least have a clear understanding of what we’re dying for?"
Facing questions from a colleague from a different department, Feng Tingyue gave a very clear response, "If you know the rules, then don’t ask extra questions. The company brought you here because they value your loyalty. No matter what you see later... don’t ask questions, and don’t talk about it after we get back. President Yan should be able to ensure our safety. Don’t you think so, Miss Tong?"
Feng Tingyue tried to sound Tong Yitong out. Since she and Yan Xing were so close, she should know something about Sir Lei Ming, right?
Towards anyone other than Yan Xing, Tong Yitong’s attitude was rather aloof. She said indifferently, "I cannot answer that question. President Yan said that once you’ve delivered us to the gates of Max’s estate, you may leave. I will accompany President Yan to handle what comes next." 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
Feng Tingyue stated, "Our mission is to protect President Yan. We won’t leave."
Feng Tingyue knew how terrifying Tong Yitong’s power was. And Yan Xing could make Tong Yitong so obedient; she wondered just how powerful he truly was. This incident was an opportunity to directly witness the extent of Yan Xing’s capabilities. It might even offer a glimpse into Sir Lei Ming’s influence. That’s why the company had assigned her to this mission and temporarily transferred two competent field agents from an allied unit.
As the atmosphere in the car cabin grew somewhat tense, Yan Xing opened the car door and climbed back in.
He shut the door, blocking the cold wind from outside.
Seated in the back, Yan Xing said to Lao Guan, "Drive. My people are following right behind us."
Lao Guan had been listening to the conversation between Feng Tingyue and Tong Yitong and hadn’t noticed the situation behind them until now.
Looking in the rearview mirror again, he saw a minibus parked behind their car.
The driver was dressed in tight-fitting black leather attire, his head covered with a mask, and he wore protective goggles with black lenses over his eyes. He even wore black leather gloves. The entire person was wrapped up so tightly that not a patch of skin was exposed. A formidable presence indeed.
"Alright, let’s go."
Lao Guan started the car and drove forward, with the minibus following closely behind.
After driving for about ten more kilometers, the two vehicles stopped in front of a large gate.
This was the entrance to Baron Max’s estate; from here, it was still a twenty-kilometer drive to the manor halfway up the mountain.
Three private security personnel, dressed in professional combat uniforms, emerged from a guard post beside the gate.
Two of them flanked the approach, hands on their guns, fingers on the safeties and triggers.
The third person walked over. After seeing the driver of the minibus, he gestured to someone in the guard post and then addressed Lao Guan, "This is a private estate. Without the owner’s invitation, outsiders are not allowed. Do you have an appointment?"
Lao Guan didn’t know how to respond.
Yan Xing rolled down the back window and said to the guard, "Tell Baron Max that we’ve brought Tong Yitong. Ask him if he wants her. If not... we’ll leave."
The security guard walked over, glanced at Yan Xing, then looked down at Tong Yitong sitting inside. He then scanned everyone inside the car with the bodycam on his shoulder before contacting his superior via radio.
After a moment, the guard, having received a reply, said to Yan Xing, "Your car may enter, but the one behind cannot."
"Fine, have them wait here for us," Yan Xing agreed promptly, then said to Lao Guan, "Drive. Let’s go meet Baron Max."
This... he just ditched the backup? What kind of backup was that?
But with things having come to this point, Lao Guan could only start the car and drive through the opened estate gate.
