Medical and Martial God-Chapter 59 Racing
Ye Xiu didn’t know Qin Qing was deliberately trying to scare him. He didn’t even dare go home, instead just driving aimlessly around the streets. Other men, when they argued with their wives, could find their buddies to grab a drink and complain, but Ye Xiu didn’t have a single friend. People like Ghost Doctor and Mo Luo didn’t dare treat him as an equal, let alone share a drink and chat.
"A lonely man indeed!" Ye Xiu laughed bitterly.
Just then, a convertible sports car sped past.
"Zhu Xiaowen? Yun Lan?"
Though the convertible was fast, Ye Xiu still recognized the two beautiful women inside. They were Zhu Xiaowen and Yun Lan, the very women who had once offered to become his sugar mommies.
This is interesting. I’ll join these ladies for some fun!
Ye Xiu accelerated, chasing after the convertible.
At that moment, Yun Lan and Zhu Xiaowen, both clad in evening gowns, were chatting away when Zhu Xiaowen, sitting in the passenger seat, noticed a Bentley chasing them in the rearview mirror.
"Yun Lan, there’s a Bentley chasing us," Zhu Xiaowen said.
Yun Lan glanced at the rearview mirror. "It’s probably some rich playboy who’s taken a liking to us and wants to hit on us."
"Shake him off. I’m not interested in playboys," Zhu Xiaowen said.
"Then you’d better hold on tight!" Yun Lan’s expression suddenly grew as intense as if she’d taken a stimulant.
The convertible’s top went up, and the car shot out like an arrow loosed from a bow. She was weaving nimbly through the dense traffic, her speed so great it was as if traffic laws didn’t exist.
"He’s catching up," Zhu Xiaowen said, staring into the rearview mirror.
"Impossible. I’m a semi-professional race car driver, and this car has been modified. There’s no way an ordinary Bentley could catch up!" Yun Lan didn’t believe it, but a glance in her rearview mirror shocked her: the Bentley was glued to her tail.
"Well now, looks like we’ve run into a real pro!" Yun Lan grew excited.
"Let’s race him!" Zhu Xiaowen was beyond excited.
"My thoughts exactly!" Yun Lan finally got serious.
As heiresses to wealthy families, they wanted for nothing. Their favorite pastime was seeking out all kinds of thrills, and Yun Lan and Zhu Xiaowen were prime examples. To master racing, Yun Lan had specifically trained with a professional racing team for over a year. Her driving skills were so refined that she was even better than some professional racers. To maximize her technique and speed, Yun Lan had specially modified her sports car.
"He’s... he’s actually caught up," Zhu Xiaowen stammered in shock, her eyes fixed on the rearview mirror.
"He’s a professional. He has to be," Yun Lan said gravely. "It’s rush hour, the roads are packed, and he’s driving a standard Bentley. Its performance is a far cry from my car’s, yet he’s sticking to me like a shadow. He’s definitely a professional racer."
"Slow down. Let’s see who it is. We might know him," Zhu Xiaowen suggested.
"Okay!" Yun Lan slowed down, deliberately pulling up alongside the Bentley.
Zhu Xiaowen leaned out, trying to peer through the Bentley’s windows to get a clear look at the driver, but she was met with impenetrable tinted glass. "Damn it, you can’t see inside his car from the outside! What kind of window tint is that?" she complained, annoyed.
There are many types of window films, including one-way tints that allow you to see out from the inside but prevent anyone from seeing in.
"Tell him to roll down his window," Yun Lan said.
"Alright!" Zhu Xiaowen shouted toward the Bentley, "Roll down your window!"
Inside the Bentley, Ye Xiu was grinning so wide his mouth was nearly crooked. He deliberately kept the window up, enjoying the mystery.
"It seems he really is someone we know. He’s not rolling down the window on purpose, trying to be mysterious," Yun Lan observed.
"Find a place to stop," Zhu Xiaowen said.
"But we have to get to the cocktail party," Yun Lan reminded her.
"It’s still early. We have plenty of time," Zhu Xiaowen insisted.
"Alright!" Yun Lan nodded. She accelerated, took a right at the next intersection, and found a spot to park.
They saw the Bentley pull over behind them as well.
Yun Lan and Zhu Xiaowen immediately got out and ran over to the Bentley’s door. Yun Lan knocked on the window. "Get out."
Ye Xiu rolled down the window. "Good evening, my dear bosses."
"Ye Xiu?"
Yun Lan and Zhu Xiaowen were stunned to see that the driver of the Bentley was, in fact, Ye Xiu.
"Good heavens, Brother Ye, you’re a monster! Your medical skills are second to none, your martial arts are at the Great Grandmaster level, and now your driving is on par with a professional racer’s. Are you trying to demoralize the rest of us?" Yun Lan exclaimed once she recovered from her shock.
"Just having a little fun with you two," Ye Xiu said as he got out of the car. He looked Yun Lan and Zhu Xiaowen up and down. "With such exquisite makeup and evening gowns, are you off to some high-end party?"
"We are!" Zhu Xiaowen hooked her arm through Ye Xiu’s, saying playfully, "The young master of the Zuo Family is back from abroad, and he’s organized a party for us."
Ye Xiu paused. "You said the young master of the Zuo Family is back from abroad? As far as I know, the Zuo Family’s young master has been in Jin Ye City this whole time."
"You may not know this, Brother Ye. The one you’re referring to is the son of Zuoqiu Ming’s current wife. But Zuoqiu Ming also had a son with his ex-wife, who took his mother’s surname. His name is Luo Qiwei."
Luo Qiwei?
Ye Xiu couldn’t help but chuckle.
What a coincidence! I just picked Luo Qiwei up from the airport and dropped him off at the Bvlgari Hotel a little while ago. Qin Qing will probably attend Luo Qiwei’s party, too.
"Brother Ye, if you don’t have anything else to do, why not come along and have some fun?" Zhu Xiaowen asked expectantly.
Ye Xiu was tempted but replied with false modesty, "I wasn’t invited. Wouldn’t it be inappropriate for me to go?"
"I’ll take you. Who would dare say a word?" Zhu Xiaowen declared with roguish confidence.
"I’m afraid that’s not a good idea!" Yun Lan said awkwardly. "If the party were anywhere else, we could get you in. But tonight’s party is at Ming Feng Tower. Even we can’t get you inside."
Ming Feng Tower?
Hearing the name, a playful look crossed Ye Xiu’s face.
"It makes sense that you haven’t heard of it, Brother Ye. Ming Feng Tower didn’t even exist back when you went abroad," Zhu Xiaowen explained.
Yun Lan continued, "Ming Feng Tower is the most exclusive entertainment venue in Jin Ye City. In the entire city, or even all of Xuanse, only Panlong Pavilion can compare.
"Panlong Pavilion only accepts members, and the requirements are extremely high—it’s not a place you can enter just by having money. Only individuals who, either personally or through family, control a company with a market value of over ten billion are eligible to apply. The annual membership fee is 10,000,000.
"Members can come and go as they please, but they cannot bring guests. That is the ironclad rule of Panlong Pavilion, which no one can break."
After she finished, a meaningful smile touched Ye Xiu’s lips. He asked teasingly, "You two really are spendthrifts, aren’t you? Don’t you think an annual fee of 10,000,000 is too expensive?"
"Not at all," Yun Lan said. "You may not know this, Brother Ye, but while Ming Feng Tower appears to be an entertainment venue on the surface, it’s actually an international intelligence hub. As long as you have the money, you can buy any information there."
