Medical and Martial God-Chapter 57: Pain
After listening to Ye Xiu’s analysis, Murong was dumbfounded. "Are you saying you’ve been provoking me this whole time just to stimulate me?"
That stings! Every time I argued with Ye Xiu, my body would inexplicably heat up. I’d actually thought I had met my soulmate.
"What else would it be?" Ye Xiu said disdainfully. "Take a good look at yourself. All you have is a pretty face. If it weren’t to help you, I wouldn’t waste my time on you."
Murong was so furious she could barely speak, but then a sudden warmth spread through her body. She realized Ye Xiu was deliberately provoking her again.
She couldn’t help but ask, "Can you really cure the Yin Poison Body?"
"Do I have any reason to lie to you?" Ye Xiu retorted.
Murong grew excited. Grabbing Ye Xiu’s hand, she pleaded, "Mr. Ye, please, you have to help me!"
"Why should I?" Ye Xiu asked. "People with the Yin Poison Body have always been neglected by the Mu Family. You have no money and no figure, so it seems I get no benefit from helping you."
"As long as you can cure me, I’ll do anything you want," Murong said, her eyes blazing.
"Anything?" Ye Xiu asked.
"Yes!" Murong nodded vehemently.
"I want to meet your grandfather," Ye Xiu stated.
Murong paused. "Why do you want to see him?"
"You don’t need to know that," Ye Xiu replied.
Murong looked troubled. "My grandfather’s whereabouts are always erratic, and he’s never liked me. Even though I can contact him, he won’t come to see you just because I ask."
"Just give him a message for me, and I guarantee he’ll come," Ye Xiu said confidently.
"What message?" Murong asked with a look of wide-eyed curiosity.
"Tell him you overheard that Ye Xiu knows a method to counter the Blood Demon," Ye Xiu instructed. "Say that and nothing more. Don’t mention that I’m a Great Grandmaster or that I can cure the Yin Poison Body. You especially cannot say those things."
"The Blood Demon?" Hearing the name, Murong gasped. "The legendary Blood Demon? The only one in the world who took a blow from Huang Quan, survived, and escaped? If you know a way to counter him, you should tell Huang Quan! It’s said that he’s still hunting for him. And why tell my grandfather? Does he want to kill the Blood Demon, too?"
Ye Xiu sighed.
The truth was, Murong’s grandfather, Mu Beifeng, was the Blood Demon. It was a secret only Ye Xiu knew.
A year ago, Ye Xiu had sought out the Blood Demon’s help with a critical task, one that only the Blood Demon could accomplish. Unexpectedly, when they met, the Blood Demon tried to kill him to make a name for himself. The result was that after taking a single, casual slash from Ye Xiu, the Blood Demon fled in terror. The man was so fast that Ye Xiu couldn’t even catch him.
For over a year, right up to this very moment, Ye Xiu had been searching the globe for him. Meeting Murong, he finally saw a glimmer of hope.
"You don’t need to worry about any of that. Just deliver my message to your grandfather," Ye Xiu stated.
"Alright then." Murong took out her phone and dialed Mu Beifeng’s number right in front of Ye Xiu.
"Why are you calling me?" Mu Beifeng’s impatient voice crackled through the phone.
"Grandfather, I happened to overhear Ye Xiu say he has a method to counter the Blood Demon—"
Before she could finish, Mu Beifeng cut her off. "Ye Xiu? You mean the Medicine King Xuanse, Ye Xiu from ten years ago? Where is he?"
Murong shot a shocked look at Ye Xiu. Just as he’d predicted, her grandfather was extremely interested.
She replied, "In Jin Ye City."
CLICK.
Mu Beifeng had hung up.
"Knowing my grandfather, he’ll probably be in Jin Ye City within a couple of days," Murong said.
"I’ll be waiting for him," Ye Xiu replied with a smile.
"Wait a minute!" Murong suddenly remembered something. "Was your real reason for approaching me just to meet my grandfather?"
Ye Xiu simply coughed.
His reaction confirmed her suspicion, and Murong grew furious. So, all his repeated provocations weren’t because he was attracted to her beauty or interested in her Yin Poison Body. He had been using her to get to her grandfather the whole time.
This manipulative scumbag! He’s infuriating!
"Let’s go shopping! I’m going to max out your credit card." In a huff, Murong stormed into a nearby Louis Vuitton flagship store. Once inside, she pointed at bag after bag. "That one, that one, and that one... I’ll take them all." Then she turned to Ye Xiu. "Go pay for them."
Ye Xiu shook his head with a wry smile and hurried to the register. He wouldn’t have spent a cent on any other woman, but Murong had done him a huge favor. If it meant he could finally meet the Blood Demon, any amount of money was worth it.
After he paid, Murong, still fuming, stormed off to other shops for another round of retail therapy. Ye Xiu quietly followed behind, laden with her purchases. The two didn’t leave the mall until four in the afternoon, mainly because they had bought so much they couldn’t possibly carry any more.
Murong was overjoyed. It wasn’t because she’d maxed out Ye Xiu’s card, but because he was willing to spend so much money on her.
He must like me. Otherwise, he never would have been willing to spend so much money on me.
As they were waiting for a taxi, Ye Xiu’s phone rang. When he took it out, Murong clearly saw the caller ID: "Wifey".
"You have a girlfriend?" Murong asked, her face turning pale.
"I’m married," Ye Xiu said as he answered Qin Qing’s call.
"Sweetie, could you do me a favor and pick someone up from the airport at five o’clock? I’ve already sent you their photo and name..."
Murong’s head was buzzing. I had always assumed he was single. Just a moment ago, I even thought he liked me, but it turns out he already has a wife! What a scumbag! Treating me so well and spending so much money on me when he already has a wife!
In a fit of rage, Murong leaned close to Ye Xiu’s phone and cooed in a sleepy, delicate voice, "Darling, can’t you turn your phone off when we’re sleeping? It’s so noisy!"
Ye Xiu froze. What the...?! Is this girl nuts? Who jokes like that? Qin Qing is definitely going to get the wrong idea.
"Who was that?" As expected, the warmth instantly vanished from Qin Qing’s voice.
Murong then whimpered, "Ouch... be gentle."
Ye Xiu fell silent. I’m so screwed. There’s no way to explain this now.
Sure enough, Qin Qing’s voice erupted from the phone. "Alright, Ye Xiu! You’re getting a little too big for your britches, aren’t you? Or have you forgotten who you’re dealing with? You just wait."
CLICK. She hung up.
