Medical and Martial God-Chapter 231: Celebrating the Banquet for Ye Xiu’s Death
Waiters began to serve the dishes. To ensure the celebration would be uninterrupted, Ma Renyi had booked the entire restaurant at the Lingjin Hotel, with all chefs and waiters serving only them. Thus, all the food was ready. At a shout from Gao Hongquan, waiters wheeled in carts in an orderly fashion, placing exquisite delicacies on every table.
Ma Renyi, sitting to Su Mo’s right, opened a bottle of Maotai Liquor and poured him a drink. "Divine Doctor Su," he said with a smile, "for tonight’s celebration, Old Gao and I bought out all the Maotai Liquor on Qingfeng Road. We want everyone to drink to their heart’s content."
"You two have really gone to great expense," Su Mo said, his face glowing.
"Hey, what’s a little money?" Ma Renyi laughed. "If Ye Xiu hadn’t died, we would have lost our fortunes and our lives, left without even a complete corpse for burial. Now that Ye Xiu is dead, no amount of money is too much to celebrate."
"Old Ma, you took the words right out of my mouth," Gao Hongquan laughed.
Su Mo stood up, raising his glass. "Alright," he announced, "tonight we won’t talk about money, only celebration. Come, let’s all raise our glasses and wish for Ye Xiu’s soul to scatter, never to be reborn!"
"To Ye Xiu’s soul scattering, never to be reborn!" everyone roared, rising to their feet. Even the children stood with their drinks, shouting along.
Just as everyone was about to down their drinks, a hand holding an empty glass reached out from Su Mo’s side. "Don’t be so quick to drink," a chuckling voice said. "Fill mine up first!"
The voice was startlingly loud. As soon as the words were spoken, the joyous banquet hall fell instantly silent.
All eyes turned toward the voice, wanting to see who would be so rude as to ruin the mood.
"Who are you?" Su Mo asked, turning to look at him in confusion.
"Presumptuous!" Ma Renyi snapped. "Tonight is our grand celebration! What’s an outsider like you doing crashing our party? Get lost and go drink horse piss!" 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
"You want to join the fun and freeload a meal? Are you even worthy?" Gao Hongquan sneered.
The others also looked at Ye Xiu with disdain, muttering that the guy must have a screw loose to try and freeload here.
"Divine Doctor Su, don’t you find me a bit familiar?" Ye Xiu asked with a smile.
"Oh?" Su Mo faltered, scrutinizing Ye Xiu’s face. "You do look familiar. Have we met somewhere before?"
"Divine Doctor Su, the great are always so forgetful. It’s only been ten years, yet you’ve completely forgotten my face. Or have I just changed that much?" Ye Xiu replied with a smile.
Su Mo was even more baffled, but he couldn’t shake the feeling that Ye Xiu’s face was incredibly familiar. He had definitely seen that face before! He stared at Ye Xiu’s face again, desperately searching his memory. Suddenly, a flash of insight struck him.
The next moment, his entire face turned as white as a sheet, as if struck by lightning, and his body began to tremble violently. His right hand, holding the wine glass, trembled so violently that after just a few shakes, all the wine inside had spilled out.
"Divine Doctor Su, what’s wrong?" Gao Hongquan asked.
The others were also puzzled. Su Mo’s reaction was too extreme. It seemed... it seemed like he was overly agitated.
"Ah!" Su Mo suddenly cried out. He spun around to run, only to trip on a chair leg and fall flat on his face. Without bothering to get up, he began scrambling toward the door on all fours.
"Try moving one more inch," Ye Xiu said.
Su Mo instantly froze, remaining in a kneeling crawl, his body trembling violently.
Everyone in the hall was stunned into silence. "Who... who in the world are you?" Gao Hongquan asked Ye Xiu, his voice laced with shock.
The others all stared at Ye Xiu. They couldn’t understand why the renowned previous-generation Xuanse Medicine King would suddenly become so terrified after just looking at this young man’s face for a moment.
Ye Xiu sat down in Su Mo’s vacant seat and chuckled. "How ridiculous. All of you gathered on Qingfeng Road to celebrate my death, yet when I show up in person, not a single one of you recognizes me."
At these words, the entire hall was thunderstruck. The next moment, a series of crashes echoed as wine glasses slipped from nerveless fingers and shattered on the floor. Aside from the children, every adult’s face turned pale with fear.
"Ye... Ye Xiu? You... you’re not dead?" Gao Hongquan stammered.
"Who told you I was dead?" Ye Xiu retorted.
WHOOSH! All eyes snapped toward Su Mo, who was still kneeling and trembling on the floor.
"Su... Divine Doctor Su... didn’t you... didn’t you say Ye Xiu was dead?" Gao Hongquan demanded angrily.
The others glared at Su Mo with rage. That old bastard, he’d doomed them all!
"I... I don’t know... I don’t know what happened," Su Mo stammered as he shakily got to his feet, trying to suppress his overwhelming terror. "I... I clearly bribed the Luopo Clan... I sent my disciple, Li Hongchou, to Jin Ye City. After he and the two Luopo Clan War Gods arrived at Ye Xiu’s home, he... he even sent me a text! It’s impossible! Ye Xiu can’t be alive! He’s a ghost! He’s not human, he’s a ghost! He’s climbed out of Hell to get his revenge on us..."
HISS! At Su Mo’s words, a cold dread crept up from the soles of their feet, engulfing their entire bodies.
*A ghost? Ye Xiu’s ghost?*
"You... y-y-you... are you really a ghost?" Gao Hongquan asked, his voice trembling as he stared at Ye Xiu in terror.
"Ghost my ass," Ye Xiu said, slapping Gao Hongquan across the face.
Gao Hongquan touched his stinging cheek. It hurt. Moreover, he had clearly felt the warmth from Ye Xiu’s hand during the slap. A ghost’s hand couldn’t possibly be warm!
"You’re not dead?" Gao Hongquan cried out. A living Ye Xiu was far more terrifying than a dead one!
"The mere Luopo Clan couldn’t possibly take my life. You all think too little of me," Ye Xiu said, picking up his chopsticks and starting to eat. He hadn’t had dinner yet—in fact, he hadn’t even had lunch.
Now everyone was certain. Ye Xiu really wasn’t dead!
"Then... then my disciple, Li... Li Hongchou?" Su Mo asked.
"His corpse is already cold by now," Ye Xiu replied.
Su Mo was speechless.
"What about my son?" Gao Hongquan suddenly remembered his son and asked in a panic.
"Who’s your son?" Ye Xiu asked.
"Gao Wenshuai!"
"Oh, you mean Eunuch Gao? I had someone send him to the City of Asura. He should be on a plane by now," Ye Xiu said. On his way to Qingfeng Road, Qin Qing had called to inform him about what had happened with Gao Wenshuai and the First Grade bodyguard, and to ask for his instructions.
"You..." Hearing that his son was being sent to the City of Asura, Gao Hongquan panicked. He knew that Ye Xiu had already sent Huang Xinming’s son, Huang Tao, and most of the other masterminds from Jin Ye City there. Once his son went to that place, he knew he would never see him again.
"What?" Ye Xiu turned, his gaze fixing on Gao Hongquan with a cold glare. "You have a problem with me sending your son to the City of Asura?"
