Medical and Martial God-Chapter 183 Ye Xiu Swears
Mu Qingfeng’s expression was extremely grim. Mu Tian’en and Mu Tianchou were also glaring at Ye Xiu, looking as if he were the mortal enemy of the Mu Family.
However, Luo Kun was enjoying the spectacle with a cheerful expression. Based on his understanding of these three country bumpkins from the Mu Family, he knew that if Iesiyu misspoke even a single word, they would surely erupt in fury.
"Second Grand-uncle, he’s my boyfriend, not an outsider," Murong said.
"Boyfriend? What nonsense!" Mu Qingfeng scolded. "Ranran, your grandfather betrothed you to Luo Kun. That makes you Luo Kun’s fiancée. What do you mean by bringing this bum here? Do you want outsiders to laugh at the Mu Family for going back on our word and being untrustworthy?"
"Grandpa and the Luo Family arranged the marriage; that was their business. I never agreed to it, and I will not marry Luo Kun," Murong retorted, fearlessly meeting Mu Qingfeng’s gaze.
"How dare you!" Mu Tian’en slammed the table and stood up. "Ranran, how can you talk to your Second Grand-uncle like that? Have all the manners I taught you since you were little been eaten by a dog? Apologize to him right now!"
"I haven’t done anything wrong. Why should I apologize?" Murong retorted indignantly. "Besides, when have you ever taught me manners? Ever since I was born and diagnosed with the Yin Poison Body, have you, Mom, or anyone else with the surname Mu ever cared about me?
"Other children had breast milk, or at least formula. What about me? Grandma raised me on flour paste, sweet potatoes, and potatoes.
"You never once looked me in the eye. Throughout my entire life, the number of times you’ve spoken to me can be counted on one hand. You say you taught me manners? In your dreams, maybe?"
Ye Xiu listened to Murong pour out her grievances, silently clicking his tongue. No wonder Murong is as thin as a stick; it must be from childhood malnutrition.
"Fine, fine! So you’ve learned to talk back to me, have you?" Mu Tian’en gasped for breath, seething with anger. Pointing at Murong, he said coldly, "Ranran, I’m giving you one last chance. Break up with Iesiyu immediately and agree to marry Luo Kun. Otherwise, I will expel you from the Mu Family and let you fend for yourself."
"Oh, thank you so much for that," Murong retorted coldly. "Please, expel me from the Mu Family right now."
"What?" Mu Tian’en was dumbfounded.
Seeing this, Murong said sarcastically, "The Mu Family is large and prosperous, but has any member ever treated me like family? Have you ever bought me a single piece of clothing? A pair of shoes? Paid a single cent of my tuition? After Grandma died, I was starving so badly I had to go out and make my own way. In all these years, have you called me even once? Have you ever cared whether I was alive or dead out there? So yes, thank you for expelling me from the Mu Family! Goodbye. No, farewell forever!"
With that, she grabbed Ye Xiu’s hand and turned to leave.
"Trying to leave?" In a flash, Mu Qingfeng appeared, blocking the doorway. He said coldly, "Murong, since you were born into the Mu Family, your life is not yours to choose. The family has betrothed you to Luo Kun, so you must marry him."
"You can force me to marry Luo Kun, but does he dare to marry me? If he dares to marry me, I dare to kill him in his sleep," Murong threatened icily.
Ye Xiu’s eyes lit up. This threat is potent. Even a War God couldn’t defend himself against a woman in bed. If the Mu Family really forced Murong to marry Luo Kun, he would probably have to sleep with one eye open.
"If you’re going to say that, then I’ll have no choice but to kill Iesiyu," Mu Qingfeng threatened.
Mu Tian’en added, "Ranran, I’m warning you. In this life, you can only marry one man, and that is Luo Kun. You can refuse this marriage, you can even find a man you like, but let me make this clear: for every man you find, I’ll kill one."
"You... you..." Murong burst into tears, no longer daring to speak so harshly. She was genuinely afraid her second grand-uncle, father, and uncle would kill Ye Xiu.
"Sigh, I always thought my life was miserable enough. I didn’t expect Murong’s to be just as tragic," Ye Xiu finally spoke.
"Shut up!" Mu Qingfeng bellowed. "I am speaking to Murong. When was it your turn to butt in?"
"Old man, I advise you to calm down," Ye Xiu kindly reminded him. "Getting this worked up without knowing the situation will only make it more painful and embarrassing when you get slapped in the face."
"Insolence!" Mu Tianchou was furious. "What the hell do you think you are, daring to speak to my father like that? Do you have a death wish?"
"Don’t say anything more!" Murong tugged at Ye Xiu’s sleeve. "All three of them have the strength of War Gods. You can’t beat them."
"Don’t worry." Ye Xiu patted Murong’s shoulder comfortingly, then took off his mask and asked, "Do any of you know who I am?"
Seeing Ye Xiu’s face, Luo Kun, Mu Qingfeng, Mu Tian’en, and Mu Tianchou all froze. It wasn’t that they recognized him, but that his face was just too handsome.
"Of course, we know. You’re Iesiyu, just some dog from Sang Jing," Mu Qingfeng said with disdain.
"Ignorance is a scary thing," Ye Xiu laughed. "Gentlemen, think about the name ’Iesiyu’ for a moment. Doesn’t it sound familiar?"
At his words, it wasn’t just Mu Qingfeng, Mu Tian’en, and Mu Tianchou who were taken aback; even Luo Kun paused. The four of them silently repeated the name in their minds, searching their memories for any related information. After a long moment, they still couldn’t recall anyone named Iesiyu.
"I’ve never heard of you. Just spit it out—who are you?" Mu Qingfeng asked impatiently.
Ye Xiu was speechless for a moment. Then he said, "I am Ye Xiu!"
What?
Upon hearing this name, Luo Kun was stunned for three full seconds before it hit him. His face darkened. Iesiyu... Ye Xiu! So this is my target! He’s been playing me for a fool ever since the train station, and he even managed to make the Tiansha Association a powerful enemy in the Xuan Ming Sect. Damn it!
"Ye Xiu? So what? He’s just a doctor. What’s so great about that?" Mu Qingfeng said contemptuously.
Mu Tian’en and Mu Tianchou were similarly unimpressed, looking down on Ye Xiu.
Mu Tian’en said disdainfully, "A mere doctor. How can he possibly compare to Luo Kun, the young master of the Luo Family?"
"Ye Xiu, do you think knowing your identity will make us let you be with Murong? Dream on! The Mu Family has no interest in a doctor for a son-in-law," Mu Tianchou mocked.
Ye Xiu was embarrassed. I thought revealing my identity would be a slap in the face for these three, but it looks like I’m the one who got slapped.
He said coldly, "From the sound of it, you seem to look down on doctors."
"Pah! Damn doctors!" Mu Qingfeng scoffed. "Don’t think you’re so special just because you have the title ’Medicine King of Xuanse.’ Others might admire you, but our Mu Family couldn’t care less."
Ye Xiu swore inwardly. If I hadn’t promised the Blood Demon I’d look after the Mu Family, I’d have smashed Mu Qingfeng’s face into a pumpkin for that remark alone.
