The Ghost Doctor frowned. The sudden appearance of those two extremely vicious thugs in Jin Ye City clearly meant they had accepted a bounty mission—they were here for Ye Xiu’s left arm.

"Give the order," Ye Xiu commanded. "Use the surveillance footage from around the hotpot restaurant as a starting point and follow the trail to find them."

Nuonuo then spat at the man who had scolded her, and he kicked her in retaliation, the blow landing squarely on her right leg.

The Ghost Doctor was stunned for a moment, then he understood. With so many people trying to kill Master, including Kuroki Suzu and her band of Sang Jing Ninja Wariors, acquiring a pair of retinas would be a simple matter for him.

"Take Nuonuo to the ward," Ye Xiu said to the assistants.

"Yes, Divine Doctor Ye!" The assistants were buzzing with an excitement that rivaled taking stimulants.

Ye Xiu and the Ghost Doctor left the operating room first. Fang Meijun’s family rushed toward them.

"Divine Doctor Ye, how is Nuonuo?" Fang Meijun asked anxiously.

"She is no longer in life-threatening danger," Ye Xiu replied.

The family of four breathed a collective sigh of relief.

Just then, Ye Xiu turned to Zhang Wenyi. "Did you bring the one-million-yuan consultation fee?"

"What one-million-yuan consultation fee?" Zhang Wenyi asked, taken aback.

"Didn’t your parents tell you?" Ye Xiu frowned.

Zhang Wenyi and Nie Tingting looked at his parents.

"Don’t listen to his nonsense," Fang Meijun interjected. "Your father and I never agreed to pay him any fee. He’s trying to extort us!"

"That’s right, I can attest to that," the old man added. "Your mother never promised Ye Xiu a one-million-yuan fee."

The two of them were inwardly delighted. Now that Nuonuo is out of danger, what can he do if we renege on the deal?

"I only said she was no longer in life-threatening danger," Ye Xiu said, his face turning cold. "I never said she was fully recovered."

Fang Meijun and the old man froze, stunned.

"What do you mean by that, Ye Xiu?" Nie Tingting demanded angrily.

"You should be asking your in-laws that. Do they not know how seriously Nuonuo was injured?" Ye Xiu retorted.

"I can testify that what your mother-in-law said is the absolute truth, word for word," the old man declared with conviction.
