"Brother Ye, you cured my illness and now you’ve helped us so much. My brother and I don’t know how to thank you," Zuo Song’er said, her face full of adoration.
"If you want to thank me, that’s easy. Just make sure the units and property management at Waterside Luxury Residences are top-notch. If any issues pop up, the people who bought a home because of me will probably curse me to death," Ye Xiu said with a smile.
"You can rest assured on that point, Brother Ye," Zuo You said, thumping his chest.
Ye Xiu nodded, then turned his head to look at the ashen-faced Luo Qiwei and Dragon Hollyhock. "So," he taunted, "are the two of you going to confess, or should I do it for you?"
His words made Zuo You and Zuo Song’er freeze.
"What do you mean, Brother Ye?" Zuo You asked.
Ye Xiu waved the security guards away before asking, "Dragon Hollyhock and Luo Qiwei are having an affair. Did you really not notice at all?"
"What kind of joke is that, Brother Ye?" Zuo You asked in disbelief. "That’s impossible. Dragon Hollyhock is my wife. She loves me very much. She would never betray me."
"Dragon Hollyhock, you might as well tell him yourself," Ye Xiu commanded.
"Ye Xiu is right," Dragon Hollyhock said with a shrug. "I knew Luo Qiwei long before I met you. We’ve kept in touch ever since we got married."
"You..."
Zuo You felt as if he had been struck by lightning. In all the time he had known Dragon Hollyhock, he had never seen her act like this. Their marriage had always been held up as a model among elite circles, and she had always acted as if she loved him deeply. Now he discovered it was all an illusion. The woman he adored had betrayed him countless times behind his back.
"Oh, does that hurt? Are you heartbroken? Saddened?" Luo Qiwei said, taking pleasure in Zuo You’s misery. "You must be about to explode with anger right now."

Zuo You’s fists, however, did not stop. He vented all his boiling rage on Luo Qiwei, who was knocked to the ground. He curled up, enduring the kicks and punches without daring to retaliate.
Zuo You finally stopped when he was utterly exhausted. Panting, he looked at Dragon Hollyhock and asked, "Did you ever love me?"
"Love?" Dragon Hollyhock scoffed. "Zuo You, you’re so naive. Is there such a thing as love among the wealthy? I only married you for the Zuo Family’s fortune."
"I understand." Zuo You suddenly became calm. In a deep voice, he said, "You can go. We’ll see each other at the Marriage Registrar’s office tomorrow morning."
"Fine!" Dragon Hollyhock shrugged, then hauled Luo Qiwei to his feet, and the two of them left.
It wasn’t until they were long gone that Zuo You collapsed to the ground like a deflated ball. He was a man of iron will and stature, yet in that moment, he cried. He had truly loved Dragon Hollyhock with all his heart.
"I know revealing their affair like this was incredibly painful for you," Ye Xiu said, patting Zuo You’s shoulder comfortingly. "But it’s better to rip the band-aid off. If you had kept her around, she would have been the death of you and your family sooner or later."
