"So close…"
Everlearn mused quietly, looking at the panel.
He had wanted to balance his stats, and now he was so close.
Besides, he was at level 95, and that made him wonder what would happen if he reached level 100.
He could almost feel the change, a quiet sense in his heart hinting that a major shift was near.
But then he turned his attention away from that and onto himself.
'The world feels weird too, once more…'
He thought quietly to himself.
There was a strange sensation as he sat down in the jet, strapped in.
For one, he felt a lack of hold.
He was sitting on the chair, yet he felt nothing anchoring him to it.
It was like nothing held him down, even though there was a seatbelt fastened to him.
A strange feeling coursed through him, giving him the illusion that, if he wanted, he could hover in the air.
'It's like gravity doesn't exist anymore…'
Everlearn mused with furrowed eyebrows, but then his ears twitched.
The breeze outside as it hit the jet, passing through its sleek aerodynamic body, the silent sound of the engine, and the reverberations.
Every single thing failed to escape his senses.
He closed his eyes and focused his senses downward.
There, he could hear the sound of bubbling water, the faintest ripples of those waters, and with terrifying precision, a second sight was generated. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
In his head, an image formed of a sea, with creatures that he could accurately map out from the ripples they made with the water, along with their exact locations, even as it constantly changed with every second.
'It's terrifying…'
He thought to himself, trying to turn all of it down, but in the next moment, he picked up on something strange.
He immediately focused away from the ocean to the airway right behind him, going farther and farther, and there he sensed something unusual.
His eyes opened in the next moment, and he spoke.
"Hey, AutoJet?"
"Yes, X Guardian Everlearn."
"There's a jet headed straight for us, exactly 103 kilometers away. They seem to be coming at quite a speed, so I suggest you let out a warning light to signify your location."
He said, feeling a quiet humming from the jet before the reply came.
"Apologies, but I can only pick up 30 kilometers of the surroundings, and by my scan, there is no jet around us," it said.
"Okay, that's alright. But can you turn on the signifying light anyway? Just for a minute?"
He asked.
"It's not necessary to turn it on…"
"I know. Just do it!"
Everlearn said, and in the next moment,
FLICCCKKKERRR
He could almost hear the sound of rays piercing through the air, flashing around as every panel of the jet lit up brilliantly.
Everlearn closed his eyes right after, spreading out his senses, but his brows furrowed as he noticed the jet had sped up instead of slowing down.
In the next moment, his eyes snapped open.
"AutoJet, we're being attacked!"
He said, but the reply came.
"No attack recognized, X Guardian Everlearn."
"There is a missile incoming. It's already 45 meters away."
"My sensors can only scan up to 30 kilometers, and judging from that, we are not being attacked. Please relax, X Guardian Everlearn."
It said, and Everlearn leaned forward, his brows twitching in disbelief, with jaw hanging, but then he sat back down, hand beneath his jaw.
"Well, at least I've learned something new. Jets are now an outdated mode of transport for me…"
Seven seconds later.
WOOOOOOW!
WOOOOOOOW!
An alarm rang heavily through the jet, lights blazing red.
"Took you so long," Everlearn mused with an unimpressed eye roll.
"The jet has detected a hostile instance. Please remain tightly seated."
It said, though Everlearn's hands were already reaching for his belt to take it off.
In the next moment,
The jet took a sharp swerve downward to dodge the missile, but unbelievably, it followed instantly, smashing into it.
KABBBBOOOOOOOOOOM!
A massive explosion of energy echoed out as the jet was instantly destroyed.
A figure was sent spiraling down from the force, none other than Everlearn, who spun wildly through the air.
He traveled about 300 meters before slowing, hovering backward as his motion gradually eased.
Reaching the surface, he descended silently, standing over the tranquil, endless sea.
VROOOOOOOOOOOOOM!
The clouds above his head parted, and he watched a helijet slowly lower to the sea.
He furrowed his brows, a cold glint in his eyes, as he noticed the words written on the helijet.
"The CHO."
It was the CHO, the group that had wanted him to come with them, and obviously get rid of him, because he had gotten rid of Mecha Eva.
He had thought he had been able to easily escape from them, staying with Sara and even traveling to Huwait and back, yet here were their jets.
It came to a stop around 50 meters from Everlearn, creating a wave that pushed back the water and disturbed the balance.
He, however, adjusted easily, both feet remaining on the surface.
It wasn't long before a total of seven figures stepped out of the jet.
"You blew up my jet, huh?"
Everlearn mused, watching the fading remnants of the jet as its parts plummeted into the water.
"I'm guessing you're here for the kill, then?"
"According to our recorded energy signatures, you are the golden monster that assaulted Mechara Organization days ago."
"You killed a Core, who, according to our updated information, is the personal bodyguard of a reputable member of staff in the Mechara Organization."
"And worthy of notice is that reputable member of staff who suffered a skull crack from your attack."
"Most unforgiving is the grievous injury that you dealt to one of our own CHO officers due to your resisting capture."
A man standing before the other seven recited aloud.
"All of this has given the CHO no choice but to label you as a Level B Threat."
"And for Level B threats, they all must be brought back to base either alive...or DEAD!"
