"Tsk. Kids and their ignorance..."

The mocking scoff echoed atop the roof as Lord Ravernor turned away from the edge, returning to his seat.

He passed the phone to the kneeling Van, ordering,

"Call up the rest of the High Lords and tell them to ignore the kids."

"They need a reality check on where they stand in this world, and that should teach them quickly enough."

____________

Everlearn had been the one to choose Lord Ravernor as the first person they called, but this time, his interest in all the remaining four had dwindled to nothing.

This allowed Sara to be the one in the seat.

She inhaled quietly, then exhaled deeply, calming down her pounding heart.

Something was telling her:

A war was about to break open.

Not humans against Nakros, but a single human against humans, and it would be incredibly devastating to none other than humans themselves.

An infighting was the last thing she wanted to happen, as all of that would do nothing but aid the Nakros.

That was why she needed to get her points across.

Her hands hovered before the remaining four, and she dialed up one of the two females.

Behind her, Everlearn sat, not one time interfering at all.

No matter how awkward the conversation got, he simply ignored it, and after about twenty minutes.

Sara collapsed helplessly on her seat, shutting her eyes tight as her hand tightened into a fist.

"All ignored, didn't they?"

Everlearn said from behind as she remained unmoving.

It was the same thing.

The others all either gave a "Not interested" or "You should not have access to my contact and will be punished soon for this" reply before severing the connection.

That was bad news to Sara, but to Everlearn:

║Congratulations on completing the mission. Gain the attention of the TCFs.║

"Our aim has still been achieved, though."

Everlearn said as Sara opened an eye, turning to look up where his face was, a grin on his lips.

"And how is that? They all said no."

"Yes, they did. But our plan wasn't for them to say yes, remember?" he said as she froze.

"We just wanted to get them on the phone, and we have succeeded."

He added, and she sat up straight.

That was the truth.

They had said they needed helijets and arms from the TCF, and the first way to do all that was to find those with the authority.

And they had not only found them, but even dialed them up.

They had achieved their first goal.

"So now," Everlearn said.

"Our second mini mission is simple:

"Since they have said no, we find a way to get them to say yes."

He said, dragging his seat closer.

"But... they're never going to say yes. Not after that," she said with a downcast expression, and Everlearn hummed quietly before asking,

"Let me ask you something, Sara."

He called to her.

"Imagine you are a mum, and I put a gun to the head of your only daughter, asking you to do something which you're capable of, with the only impediment being your pride. Will you say yes or no?"

Everlearn asked with a wicked smile as Sara paused, her brows furrowing before her eyes widened

"Don't tell me you're going to kill their children?" she asked.

"No, no. I'm not going to do that."

"Just trying to show you that there's no such thing as 'they're never going to say yes.'"

"Every man has his weakness. Once that is threatened, he would easily put down anything, maybe even his life, to have it concealed."

"See, we just need to find a weakness of theirs, and they'll beg to give up everything we need."

He said as her widened eyes concentrated back, but her brows remained furrowed.

"That still sounds... wicked for some reason."

She mused.

"See, Sara. We're dealing with people who don't mind other people rotting to death in a dungeon."

"Look at them..." Everlearn said, pointing to the five hovering images.

"Do you think any of these 'higher ups' give a fuck if all the glowing light in Tale City suddenly dies out tonight?"

"You think that's going to make them unable to sleep and even snore loudly in their sleep?"

He asked as she stared quietly at the images.

As much as she wanted to say no humans could watch an entire city of humans die out and feel nothing.

The few minutes that she had spent with all of those people,

The thought in her head, knowing well that if they wanted, they could issue a command and all the people in Tale City would be free in mere days, yet they were not doing anything, nor did they even feel the slightest rush or distress, went completely against her thoughts to defend them.

Would they really care?

The answer was no.

No, they wouldn't. Not at all.

"We're not dealing with humans but mass murderers and psycho killers, except they don on fancy suits and are all over the news as good people."

"When you're dealing with people like this, you can't use the normal nice method, like requesting their help."

"Because then they expect you to bow down on your bellies and kiss the underside of their foot, and anything contrary to that will be regarded as arrogance or pride."

He explained, and Sara could not refute. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖

These people had made up their minds and were in no rush to change things.

If things went on like this, then the ones who would suffer the most were those trapped in Tale City.

Right now, they did not have time for such things as pleading, like her brain was suggesting.

This was an extreme situation with lives at stake, and extreme situations like this called for extreme means.

In the next moment, Sara wiped off the empathy in her heart.

'We're not doing this to cause chaos, but so helpless and innocent people survive.'

"What's the plan?" she asked.

Everlearn grinned in pride, uttering,

"It's really simple."
