Mecha Devourer System-Chapter 204: Completing The Mission(I)
'I… I'm glad I didn't have to kill them.'
The thoughts echoed in Everlearn's head, and a warm feeling spread through his heart, leading to a blue glow shining from the depths of the sands.
In the next moment, his hand silently tore out of the sand, and he stepped out once more, giving one last look at the base behind him before leaving.
The journey back was easier, with every sand peak easily navigated, and quietly, he was out of the periphery of the TCF Base.
What he did next was get a flight back to Cornandor.
Over the eight hours the plane traveled, Everlearn remained fast asleep, the AI voice managing to wake him when he landed at Cornandor's port.
Taking a simple taxi, he got off the street, walking for a few more meters before he arrived at the building.
Easily navigating through the elevators, he arrived before the door and knocked twice.
The silence endured for a few moments before the sound of footsteps echoed out.
The knob was clenched open, the door swinging wide right after, and there she was… Sara.
But he was surprised when he saw the glassy drops around her eyes.
"Hey, what's wr"
He hadn't completed his words when she jumped into his embrace, knocking him a step back.
"I'm… so… happy."
She whispered, choking on her tears as the patch on his shoulder got wet.
For a moment, he was lost, and then it occurred to him, and he quietly hugged her back with one arm, whispering.
"You don't have to be so worried about me, Sara. I'll always be fine…"
___________
"It's almost complete."
The words echoed out in the Info Room where Everlearn sat, pointing at the screen, which had a blue bar that was almost filled.
The sound of footsteps echoed out behind him as he felt something at the corner of his gaze and turned to find a steaming cup of coffee.
Sara held two, handing him one.
"Thank you."
He said, taking it from her and taking a sip.
Silence descended onto the Info Room as both remained watching the blue bar slowly fill, with an estimated waiting time of 10 more minutes left.
"You have power…" Sara suddenly said, and he turned to her, finding her eyes on her feet.
"You said I had information and you had power. I was skeptical for some moments as to how true your claim was…"
She said, and he hummed quietly.
"That's understandable."
He was young.
Though he looked older than his true age.
Still, if such a young man claimed to have power in a world like Nvidia, then it could be a little doubtful, considering there were always bigger fish in the sea.
"Now, it seems a bit ridiculous for me to have given you those infiltration plans. You could have gone in without having to hide, don't you?"
She said, mocking herself, but turning to him, she found him shaking his head in disagreement.
"I didn't want to create much chaos. If I had gone through without hiding… or without your infiltration plans, then many would have ended up injured, or even worse, dead."
He said quietly.
"So no, it wasn't ridiculous. It was just as necessary."
He replied, and she turned to find him sipping his coffee.
He seemed to notice her stare, pausing before turning to her.
"What?"
He asked, and she smiled.
"It's been quite a long time since I've felt this feeling."
"This… feeling?" He asked, and she continued.
"Of doing something… or anything with my life at all. Thank you."
BEEP!
BEEP!
BEEEP!
The sound of beeping echoed out in that moment, and both turned to the monitor, which flashed with a [COMPLETE] tab.
Immediately, Sara drew her chair closer, her eyes regaining focus.
Everlearn watched from the side, seeing the interface for the username and password, which Sara quickly inputted.
In the next moment, they were given access, codes, and lines of words just like any personal server.
Sara moved quickly, her seat turning toward the supercomputer hologram as a hovering interface appeared, green lines of code flickering in the air.
"Just getting some more information on the personnels, and running a personal search both on the server and traces in the real world to see who has enough authority and order to issue what we want."
Sara gave him the gist as she swiveled from the monitor to the computer over and over.
Everlearn didn't interfere, watching her do her thing, and only after two hours of this did she slow down.
In the end, five images hung suspended in the air, projected by the supercomputer.
"This is it?"
Everlearn asked, and Sara exhaled tiredly, finding a coffee by her face from Everlearn.
She grabbed it, devouring it in one gulp and exhaling in satisfaction.
"Yes. If there's someone in the TCF Base who can allow the descent of the teleporters and issue an army with helijets to get down to Tale City, then it has to be one of these five."
She said, and Everlearn's brows furrowed quietly as he looked at the five images before pointing at one of them.
"Him. We'll contact him first."
"Him?"
Sara mused, confused. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
On the screen, there were two women and three men.
All dressed in military outfits, but the one Everlearn pointed to was one of the older men, who, just looking at him, was scary enough.
He was gruff-looking, with an angular, angry face as if carved from chisels.
A blindfold crossed his right eye, failing to hide the blade scar that trailed down the side of his nose.
"You… you sure?" Sara asked.
"He looks like the type to shoot us to death for illegal infiltration of the base before choosing to have any words at all."
She asked concernedly, and Everlearn chuckled at her explanation.
The man did seem to be the definition of brutal justice and focus, but Everlearn felt more drawn to him than the rest.
"Let's just get him on the line first. If we can't reach him, then we can move to the rest."
