Chapter 240: Monster(2)

Fiona stayed there for a long time until she heard footsteps, not caring or bothering to look up and check who it was until she was pulled to her feet.

Unable to raise her head even when she heard William’s voice and heard him speak to her.

"Are you okay? What about the child?" he asked, using more force to force her head up when, even after he spoke, Fiona refused to look at him, only to freeze as he came face to face with the scars on her body.

Terrible enough to make him do a double take, even as tears continued to slide down her face.

William had barely recovered from the shock when his hands tightened into fists as rage filled his eyes.

He was pissed and angry, and the more he stared at Fiona’s face, the angrier he felt, unable to understand why Eldric would do such a thing.

Fiona, on the other hand, simply kept on crying and lowering her face, unwilling to look up and allow anyone to see the ugliness she had seen, least of all William.

Fervor, who saw what was happening and stood a few steps away, finally stepped closer, unable to remain silent any longer.

"We need to go! This place is deserted!" he said, his face still cold and unbothered, even though a hint of worry could be seen on his face.

They had suddenly gotten an anonymous call for such a deserted place with no one close by.

Wasn’t it clear that if it was impossible for anyone to find her there, then it meant that whoever called had been the one to put her there.

"The faster we leave, the better!" Fervor seriously explained, even as William slowly nodded his head and picked up Fiona off the ground with ease.

Having already grabbed a large coat to cover her body with, even as he checked her legs, trying to make sure that she hadn’t lost the baby, which was actually all he cared about.

"Fine! Let’s go! Head to the hospital. We’ll figure out the rest later!" William ordered, getting into the car with Fiona in his arms.

Fervor got into the driver’s seat while the other bodyguards and the remainder of William’s men got into the other cars.

Fiona was sniffling, but feeling William still warmly wrap his arms around her without tossing her away made her feel relieved as the pain in her heart eased.

The pain in her body still thrummed terribly, especially the ones on her chest, but regardless, she no longer made loud sounds, burrowing even more into William’s arms as the car continued to zoom off in the direction of the hospital.

Everything was fine for the next ten minutes as silence reigned in the car, and Fiona was even on the edge of drifting to sleep when Fervor suddenly veered off the road so sharply that it was enough to turn the car in a circle, lifting the tires off the road.

William was shocked as he covered Fiona with his body, even as Fervor tried to steady the car, only to fail as the car somersaulted in a nasty way, loud crumbling sounds of metal could be heard.

William didn’t wait, using his body to launch himself out of the car with Fiona in his arms just a second later than Fervor, their skin peeling as they did, but it was much better than staying in a crumbling car.

But they had just shot out when suddenly a booming sound echoed for miles, even as a fiery explosion happened some distance away.

Their hearts raced in their chests as they scrambled off the ground and to their feet just in time to see one of the two bodyguards’ cars explode into complete and utter ruin.

"It-it was a missile!" Fervor gasped, his eyes squinted together as he looked around, doing his best to find out the source of the danger and whether or not something like that would happen again.

"I barely dodged it!" he said, ignoring the glare William sent his way for not crashing better, even as he looked at Fiona, who was still hanging tightly to him, not willing to stand on her feet even though her legs were working.

Clinging tightly to William like her life depended on it, thankful for the coat, which was big enough to cover most of her body, and wishing she could completely cover her face too.

She was scared about the sudden attack, but most of her didn’t care, peeking out to see William’s face to find out if it was something that worried him, only to freeze, grabbing his arm tight enough to pull his attention away from Fervor.

"You’re bleeding!" she told him with a sharp gasp in her tone, drawing his attention to something he had not noticed, even as blood poured out of his nose, which he hurriedly raised his elbow to wipe off.

But he had just wiped it off when even more blood began to pour out, and this time around, Fiona refused to be carried, dropping her feet to the ground even as she stared anxiously at William’s face.

Doing his best to wipe it off, even as blood continued to drip down his nose as he held his hand to it.

"We need to get out of here first!" he ordered, gesturing to the remaining bodyguards who had already stepped out of the car and surrounded him.

"You and Fervor will return while I and a few men will run forward to ensure that the missile can no longer be—"

But he didn’t finish before Fiona was already shaking her head.

She wasn’t stupid, and she could see that William was barely holding himself together even when he came to look for her.

The love he showed towards her was clear, and she refused to abandon him when he clearly needed her the most.

"No! I refuse!" But again, she had barely spoken when William snapped with visible anger on his face.

"YOU WILL DO AS I FUCKING—" raising his voice with unbridled anger in his tone when he suddenly drifted off as his thoughts were cut off by the sight that suddenly appeared in his sight.

First was the sound of cars approaching just before he saw them, about three black cars that seemed to be driven directly towards them.

Where they were was mostly deserted, considering the warehouse where they had gotten the report that Fiona was.

It was somewhere that even William had seen no reason to go to, considering the fact that there was nothing but dry land and a long stretch of road along abandoned and crumbled houses.

The fleet of cars that approached them was too clean...too clean to be anything but what he expected it to be.

Not surprised to watch the cars stop a few feet away from them and see Eldric get out, wearing a grey-colored suit with a cold expression on his face.

"How dare you!!!" he snapped even before the car door behind him was shut, as his bodyguards immediately also got out of the car and stacked themselves behind him, numbering twice as much as William now had.

"I heard you were attacked and Fiona went missing!" he snapped, his gaze settling on Fiona, whose head was bowed to the ground, with a soft look on his face, about to call her name, but William simply scoffed loudly for all to hear.

A dark look appeared on William’s face as he realized what Eldric was up to and had done.

"Wow! You truly are a monster!" he said in a tone that held a small iota of astonishment and twice as much disgust.
