Mated To My Stepbrother-Chapter 60
Jaxon pov
As I walked out of Aria’s house, the only thoughts in my head were more about Aria. I had left her in the hospital to come and see Aria, only to see that it was nothing but a waste of time.
I entered my car and immediately started the engine. I drove quickly down the road but recalled that there would be huge traffic on the way just as I was halfway through the road and almost to the hospital.
The rain started just as predicted by the weather forecast. I took out my phone to view the message again, and I couldn’t help but smile. She had already told me to be careful about the rain, and truly, it rained just as expected.
It took me almost an hour to get to the hospital, and when I got there, I noticed that the light switch from her room was already off. I parked my car and sat there for some minutes, for I had no umbrella with me, and the rain was still pouring very heavily.
I decided to call her and ask about her health before I got upstairs, but she was not picking up.
I became worried and continued to call, even sending her multiple messages, but she did not pick up after staring at the heavy rain for some minutes. I had no choice but to run under it because I became scared of what could have happened that made her not pick up my call.
As I entered, I ran directly to Aria’s ward, but just as I got close enough, I noticed that nurses and doctors were all standing outside the room and seemed to be peeping with a worried look.
I became so scared as I ran quickly into the room, pushing past all the nurses and the doctors. As I got to the room, I noticed that Aria was not inside, and the doctor seemed to be checking something, which worried me.
I dashed towards the doctor and turned him to face me. "Doctor, what is wrong? Where is Aria?"I asked him. He seemed a bit worried but did not say anything as he handed over a document to the nurse, who walked out of the room. I became so scared and shook the doctor in flight.
"You need to tell me and stop keeping silent. Where is Aria?" I warned.
The doctor finally responded to my warnings.
"I am sorry Mr. Jaxon, but I think something happened and resulted in Aria being taken to the emergency room." He said. I felt my breath hitch in fright. I shouldn’t have left her alone and gone to see Aria. This was all my fault.
I thought she would be safe alone, but it was the opposite, and now she is in the emergency room.
The doctor noticed the changes in my behavior and held me on the shoulder as we walked out of the room, standing in front of the world. He continued, "I think someone tampered with Aria’s medication, but I have no evidence. she’s in the emergency room being treated right now. I just needed to confirm if I would find anything that resulted or would lead me to how it happened."The doctor told me,
but the first person to come to my mind was Aria’s father.
I felt so angry with myself and had no one to put the awareness on, so I grabbed the doctor by his collar. As I yelled angrily at him,
"How could you let something to the doctor? "He seemed puzzled about why I was dragging him this way. He had just told me that he also did not know why she was found in that situation, but yet, I still decided to pour my annoyance and anger on him.
I slowly released his shirt as I stepped back, fearing my anger.
"It was all my fault."
I muttered to myself as I rubbed my forehead, thinking of who else would have entered here. I turned to the doctor Who was still staring at me, a bit scared due to the anger I had just used on him.
"Did you check the security camera? No one entered, That is just where it ended?"I said to the doctor. He turned to one of the nurses walking towards him and whispered in her ears some mud.
After that, she walked away, but I continued to stare at him. He was going to give me a solution no matter what.
The doctor soon brought out his phone and made a few calls. After the call, he concentrated back on me.
"They said there was no sign of anyone going in or out of this hospital room, and now, come to think of it, what if it was Aria who did this to herself? What if it was not someone who did this? Because I had searched that room back and forth looking for evidence to show you even before you arrived, there was nothing." He began.
"Even the CCTV camera did not record anything concerning someone going in or out of that room, so I think it was all Aria’s hard work. She had strangled herself to the point that she needed emergency treatment, so it’s not our thoughts. Do not worry; the doctors are doing their best to ensure that Aria is revived, and once everything is perfectly done, we will find out if it is Aria or someone else. Only then can we make a deeper investigation." The doctor said.
I nodded in confirmation. "I want to see Aria myself in the emergency room. After all, I am her guardian, and I have the freedom to at least see her face, even if it’s tough" I said to the doctor. But the way he stared at me and how shocked he looked, I assumed something else was wrong.
I was soon taken to the front of the room and I almost fell in shock, she strangled herself.
