Mated To My Stepbrother-Chapter 15
Aria POV
Even though I did not want to do what I did at the moment, I couldn’t help but slap Jaxon on the face as he held his cheek, looking at me surprised.
"What was that for?" he asked as I rolled my eyes.
"Don’t tell me, what was that for? You know why I did it. Know your limits. What is so hard for you to understand? Stay away. Come on, please don’t make things any more difficult for the both of us or else you won’t get to take me on a ride back home next time," I said to him, hoping he would just listen to my words, but all he did was tap on his will continuously.
"You are not going to change my mind from being close to you. My wolf wants you, which means I want you, and that’s final. Nothing more, nothing less."
We soon got home, and I stepped out of the car, storming off down the street without saying anything to him. I got home only to find my mom was already preparing dinner.
"Aria," she called as I stopped in my tracks.
"What?" I yelled at her, trying my best to hold my temper as she looked puzzled.
"Did something go wrong at school?" she questioned as I shrugged, looking back at Jaxon as he stood there, his hands folded and a smirk on his face.
I did not bother to say any more words as I stormed off, leaving both of them puzzled. I went straight to my room and threw my bag on the bed. As I slammed onto the bed, staring up at the ceiling, I was puzzled at what exactly was wrong with me.
I couldn’t even explain how I felt. I could not tell if I was feeling angry, just confused, or if I could not skip to my words by staying away from Jaxon. Everything just confused me so much that I did not know what to do but lay there, trying to pour my aggression on someone, but I didn’t know who exactly.
"I’m going to make his or her life miserable."
Just then, I heard a knock on the door, and without even asking who it was, I was more than sure that it was my mom.
"It can’t be anybody else. She’s the only one who would not stand away from me and just always want to meddle in my business."
I stood up quickly and opened the door, and truly she was the one.
"Mom, stop it. I don’t want to talk. Why is it that anytime I just want to be on my own, you always find a way to invade? You always find a way to get through to me. This time around I don’t want you getting through to me. I can’t deal with anything I am going through on my own," I said. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
"Why?" I hoped I was not sounding as harsh and as confused as I felt.
"On your own? You think you can really do everything on your own? Talk to me, okay? This is a new life we are living, and I would not get angry at you if you are placed in a bad position. I know how it feels, okay? I know that you are not yet settled and I know that things still confuse you. All you have to do is just confide in me, tell me, and we will find a solution. Not just coming away and slamming the door and trying to prove that you are so angry. And you can always get angry," she said, making illustrations as I rolled my eyes.
"I’m fine, Mom. It’s just the rules. The rules that my stepdad and you gave me concerning Jaxon. He’s not keeping to his own part of the bargain. At least tell him. Tell him that I just want to be on my own in school," I said to her as she immediately kept silent.
I knew it. I knew she would not find a solution and instead would just stay quiet. I knew that my stepdad was just going to control her any way he wanted.
"I don’t think I can do that."
"Why don’t you just try? Try and you’ll see. See, you can actually coexist with Jaxon. He is the only one who can protect you. You know that. You know that without him, that school would be a living hell, and you insisted you don’t want to change schools anymore. What else do you want me to do now?" she said as I stayed silent.
"Fine, fine. Okay. I would cope. I will find a way. Just leave me already since you don’t have a solution," I said, and before she could say another word, I slammed the door, locking it twice before going back to lay on the bed, trying to fall asleep.
"Maybe if I slept a little, I would forget everything and I would stop thinking about Jaxon."
But it wasn’t even up to another five minutes when I heard a knock again.
"Mom," I yelled, hoping she would go.
"Polynok," continued.
I stood up, dragging my legs on the ground as I got to the front of the door, opened it, and it was Jaxon.
I immediately used all my force to close the door, but he was faster than me, and before I knew it, he was inside my room, shutting the door behind him.
"Jaxon. No," I said, hoping he would listen.
"Stop that. Stop telling me no. I’m not an animal, okay? And besides, it’s not like I am doing this because... because I just want to take advantage of you. I know you have some feelings for me. I have the same thing too. I care for you. I don’t want you to run away from me. If you don’t want me around you, it’s fine," he said, his words a bit softer than I had ever heard before.
I tried to mouth out a word or two, but I was totally speechless. He walked closer and closer to me and held my hand as I stood still.
"I cannot force you to do what you don’t want," he said, his face just a few inches from mine.
"I promise I won’t bother you anymore if that is what the problem is. I won’t, I promise," he said as I nodded.
"Fine, fine, just stay away from me, please," I said, but for some weird reason, and for the first time ever, those words did not reach the depth of my heart.
It ached listening to myself say those things like I did not mean what I had just said, like I was having regrets already.
