Mated To My Best Friend's Lycan Alpha Brothers-Chapter 476: S-Level Beauty
(Author’s POV)
"Yes, what is it?" the woman asked, her voice soft and syrupy.
Her hair flip caressed Chris’s face ever so softly, leaving him stunned for a moment. Then his eyes landed on that face, a true beauty. He hadn’t seen someone so beautiful ever before. She had seen a fair share of people, but no one close to that. As the light illuminating from the wall sconces cascaded on her face, she looked ethereal. Almost surreal. His breath hitched there for a second.
The woman snapped her fingers in front of his face, her manicured nails forcing him back to reality, "Disculpe~ .... señor?" She batted her eyelashes at him in confusion.
"Uhhh~ .... Yo~u~ .... you dropped this," he extended his palm towards her. She took a glance, and her eyes widened. She then looked at her empty ring finger and said, "Ohh~ .. my goodness~ ... when did it slip ~ .... Gracias~ I mean~ ... thank you so much, Mr.~ ...." Her voice trailed off.
"It’s Shadow," he said.
"Shadow~ ... misterioso. Well, thanks a ton for that, Mr. Shadow. This ring is soooo~ important to me," she said. After that, she looked at him from head to toe and commented, "I haven’t seen you here before. You aren’t from here."
Chris nodded, giving her a brief answer, "I just came for some business."
The woman nodded nonchalantly. She then took out a cardholder from her pants pocket, retrieved a card from it and handed it over to Chris, "Contact me if you need help. I know my way around here a bit. I am good at finding things."
She then winked at him and uttered, "Well then~ ... I will be taking my leave~ .... adios" After that, she turned around and left, without giving him a second glance.
Chris was left rooted. He looked at the receding figure, then at the car. He flipped to the front and there~ .... in red bold letters, her name was written, ’NERISSA MARINO.’ Below it was her contact number.
There was no designation or other info provided. But earlier, he had heard her conversation on the way. From that, he had a rough idea about her work. He was aware of the fact that in a place like Gouldland, there were plenty of scribes’ guilds, small and big, running. The people working there are in the habit of writing nothing more than their name and contact number. Though the color on the card determines the rank. It was in Red and black, so Nerissa had to be an S-level informant. The way she carried herself and her aura confirmed that.
He had been in contact with a few A+ level ones, but they weren’t able to give him any solid information about anything related to gold blood. They weren’t even close on the topic. And there were hardly any S-levels.
He caressed the letters written on the card and thought, ’Should I trust it? It might be a scam.’ He was, of course, hesitant. But time was slipping away for him as well as for his boss, who was on the other side of the planet, about to lose his life.
"Even if it is a scam, I can’t waste time. I have to do something, urgently," he mumbled under his breath. Clutching the card tightly, he returned to his room.
On the other hand, Nerissa, after getting inside the room, leaned against the door. She chewed on her pink tinted lips and said, "Everything went well~ .... he has to buy it. He has to, right?"
Not even two minutes had passed when the phone in her pocket started to vibrate. A smile crept up on her lips, "So, he did." It was a call from an unknown number, but she knew who it belonged to. She let the phone ring, not answering the call. Once again, the phone chimed as her smile only deepened, "Desperate, aren’t we? I gotcha."
Clearing her throat, after four rings, she answered, her voice sugary, "Hello~ .... Who’s this?"
"Umm~ .... It’s me, Shadow, Ms. Marino. The person you just met in the hotel’s hallway," he said as he darted around in his room, nervously.
"Ohhh~ .... Of course, of course I remember. Mr. Shadow, umm~ ... why did you call me? Is there something that I left behind?" she asked, blowing air against her nails.
"Uhh~ ... no. It isn’t that. Ms. Marino~ ... you said you will help me," Chris stated, sounding plain. But inwardly, he was nervous. This time, he had to get it right. The past few days had been unfruitful.
"Yeah, I did. Tell me, what kind of help do you want?" she inquired.
"Can we discuss this in person?" he asked. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
"Hmmm~ ..." she thought for a while and answered, "Sure, I am staying in the very hotel~ .... Room 703. You can come anytime. Ohh~ ... I am getting a client call. See you then," With that, she didn’t give him any chance and disconnected the call altogether.
"703?" Chris repeated. He was staying in 702. ’Is this really a coincidence? Maybe this really is a trap.’ Doubt stemmed inside him once again. He sighed and decided to give a call to the guild owners he had hired before, thinking maybe they had got their hands on some information.
Nerissa, who was in the adjacent room, waited with anticipation. Her purple eyes were glued to the door. She had laid the trap perfectly for Chris. He just needs to knock on it and enter. As for other things, she can handle it. After all, it was her expertise.
Nanoseconds passed~ .... Then seconds~ .... Then turning into minutes~ .... and finally, an hour, but Chris Shadow didn’t come. She had been either looking at her phone’s display or at the door. But there was no sign of that human being.
"Did it not work?" she said in frustration. "Tskkkkk~ .... He is more cautious than I thought. I can’t lose this chance of trapping him." Her nails dug into her palms as she thought her plan was going to fail miserably. She was about to throw the lamp in a fit of anger. She had even picked it up.
But then~ .... The bell for her door rang, snapping her back instantly.
