Chapter 435: Did They Do Some~ ... Inappropriate?

(Authors’ POV)

"Prof. Stephens, sorry for asking you to stay. I know you have been quite busy with Chairman Larson’s accident. But~ ... can you do me a favor?" After the Everests had taken off for not more than ten minutes, William asked Fabian.

"Mr. Miracle, you are like my father. You don’t have to be so formal with me. Please go ahead," Fabian replied.

William nodded and finally asked, "Can you drive my wife and Wendy back home? They have been up since last night. But~ .... I don’t want to send them alone in a taxi~ ...." He conveyed his feeling. Last night’s incident was a ghastly, traumatic incident for not just Myra but her family as well. It had left a deep impression on his mind.

For the first time since arriving in Esteria, William found himself utterly helpless, powerless. Myra’s phone was continuously switched off, at some point Fabian wasn’t picking up his calls, and even Yelena remained unreachable for some reason. As a father, he felt so useless. All night long, apart from making a few calls to some of Myra’s classmates, he couldn’t do anything else. There was no one he could go to or ask for help. Truthfully, he had hardly gone out to Esteria’s downtown area.

Now, he didn’t even want to send any of his family members alone in a cab, even in broad daylight. He was that scared.

Fabian’s eyes flickered, he was a little taken aback. He wanted to stay beside Myra, but now, how William worded his request meant he could not do so. He couldn’t dare to refuse.

They were standing outside Myra’s room. Just when William finished his words, Sandra came out and asked, "Will, Prof. Stephens, what are you both doing outside?"

"Sandra, I was asking Prof. Stephens to take you and Wendy home," William said plainly.

"No, Will, I am not going home. I don’t want to leave my daughter here, alone," Sandra was adamant in her stance.

"Sandra, darling, I will be here with Myra. You and Wendy should go. Last night, you had migraine as well. You didn’t even sleep a wink. It’s already getting quite late. Take a good rest," William caressed Sandra’s cheek as he tried to convince her.

"But~ .... Will, I~ ...." Sandra tried to say something when William added, "You know how much Myra likes your cooking. You can bring her one of your special, nutritious soups. And in no time, our daughter will get out of bed and be discharged, hmm," William coaxed his wife gently.

Sandra remained silent for a brief second, then nodded. She then went inside to tell the plan to their daughters. Wendy nodded absentmindedly, she was still shocked by the earlier incident, while Myra gulped, knowing what was about to come her way.

Fabian complied. Just when they were about to leave, he walked toward Myra and said, "Here, take this~ ...." He gave her his other phone. "It has my other number on speed dial. If you need something, don’t hesitate to ring me, even if it is three in the morning. I will come running for you. Okay?" He patted her head softly, waiting for her answer.

Myra found his statement a bit odd, but her mind was a bit too occupied to react. He nodded subserviently as he gave her a gentle, adoring smile, caressed her hair, said, "Good night," and then left.

Myra saw his receding figure. Once he, Sandra and Wendy were completely out of sight, there were only she and her father left.

She lowered her head in an attempt to avoid any eye contact. But William approached and sat down at a nearby stool. His hands were clasped together with open palms as they rested on his lap. He began, "Myra~ ...."

Hearing her name, Myra became instantly nervous. After a second or two, she took a deep, long breath and turned to her father, "Yes~ ... dad." 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞

"Do you care to explain what that was about?" William inquired.

"Umm~ ... who do you mean, Dad. I don’t understand," she tried to feign ignorance. But William was much more straightforward this time, "Around a year ago, you went to Kimberg to meet Nora’s biological family."

She nodded.

"You must have met her brothers as well?" he added.

She nodded again.

He observed Myra’s expression and questioned, "So, you were already aware of their identities. You knew, all along, they were Nora’s siblings. Then why did you hide this from us? Hmm?"

Myra didn’t know how to answer or what to say. With her injury and pain, she was doing her best to try to come up with any sort of excuse, but she knew her father would catch it within a second.

William took her silence as something else; he was quick to ask, "Did they~ .... Did the Everests’ family do something to you? Did they mistreat you? Did any of her brothers try to do something inappropriate with you?" His face was laced with concern as well as assumed disgust.

"No~ ... Dad, no. Mr. and Mrs. Everests, during my stay, they treated me with utmost respect and honor. They never made me feel inferior or small. They were good to me," Myra’s answer came out almost instantly.

"Then, what about those four brothers? Did they~ ....?" He fumbled, not knowing how to put it, "Are they the reason you concealed the truth from us? Have they done something to you?" William pressed. He recalled when Myra returned from Kimberg, her ankle and toe had been injured. He did inquire about it, but she shrugged it off, saying she wasn’t looking and just fallen down from the stairs. Now, a seed of suspicion had sprouted in his mind.

Letting out a heavy sigh, Myra uttered, "Dad, actually~ ..." she started. William clenched his hands tightly as she continued, "Her brothers~ .... They are good people. They did~ ... nothing inappropriate with me."

Though she said this, her mind replayed each and every instance when Alaric had acted intimately towards her without her consent and also when Dion kissed her at his secret lake house. This was something she never wanted to disclose to anyone.
