Chapter 28: Important day

Silas’s POV

[One Week later]

With a blink of an eye, a week had passed. And in this one week, I had learned acting. I think I’m a fast learner because Keri even praised me, saying—

"Your acting is getting better every time I teach you."

Sigh... I’m just a talented artist, that’s why my acting is improving so quickly.

After acting classes, they also taught me how to fight since I would have to do action scenes in the drama.

And today, my journey officially begins. They’ve called all the cast members to discuss the script and meet each other. So here I am, standing outside the company, waiting for Nekol. He said he’d be here in five minutes, but it’s already been fifteen, and he still hasn’t shown up.

I was getting hella bored when a black car suddenly stopped right in front of me. As the window rolled down, I saw Nekol sitting inside.

"Silas, get in."

"You know you’re fifteen minutes late? My legs started to hurt from standing here... all because I’ve been working out a lot these past few days."

I got into the passenger seat, and Nekol quickly started driving.

"I was stuck in traffic, sorry."

"It’s okay, I didn’t want you to apologize to me."

I looked out of the window, but to be honest, I was nervous. I didn’t know what was going to happen or how I would perform. What if my co-stars didn’t like me? So many questions were circling in my mind... fɾēewebnσveℓ.com

After a while, Nekol stopped the car in front of another company.

"Silas, don’t be nervous, okay?"

"Yeah, I won’t be nervous, but if nervousness takes over me, what should I do?"

"Just trust yourself. You can do it—I believe in you."

Okay... so Nekol really trusts me a lot. I should have confidence in myself too.

Nekol parked the car in the lot, and we took the stairs. In front of us was the waiting room, where everyone was seated on chairs. Just then, I felt a tap on my shoulder from behind. I quickly turned around to see who it was.

"You!"

The guy I had met in the dorm a week ago was standing right in front of me. I thought he was a ghost who had committed suicide, but I guess I was worrying for nothing—he was alive.

"What kind of reaction is that? At least pretend to be happy to see me."

"But I’m not happy to see you at all, so why would I pretend?"

Nekol suddenly leaned in and whispered in my ear—

"He’s the male lead in the drama you’re working on."

"What?"

He... he’s the male lead? But how??? Well, it doesn’t really matter who the male lead is.

Nekol went ahead to greet the crew, leaving me and Lysander standing there.

"Cough~... So, Lysander, how have you been? Did you eat anything?"

His eyes widened at my sudden change in attitude. He leaned closer to my face.

"Why did your behavior suddenly change?"

"My behavior didn’t change. It’s just common courtesy to reply to someone."

"Yeah, yeah, common courtesy—I can see that."

His eyebrows were raised as if teasing me. I quickly turned around and showed him my back, but he still came forward and stood beside me. Folding my arms across my chest, I scanned the entire room. Just then, Nekol came up to me.

"Let’s go."

He started walking ahead, and I followed alongside Lysander. It felt uneasy—so many people were staring at us. I think it was because Lysander was already a very popular actor.

I glanced at him. He does look handsome, and his black hair really suits him.

As we stepped into the meeting room, a middle-aged man with white hair sat on the main chair. The room was set up for a formal meeting, with actors’ names and their respective roles labeled on each chair.

There had been many people in the waiting room earlier, but now, only a few were inside.

Nekol and the other managers left, leaving only the actors and the man in charge.

As I was searching for my seat, Lysander suddenly grabbed my hand and pulled me into the chair beside him. I was caught off guard. I didn’t like how he had pulled me like that, but then I saw the name on the chair—

Silas (MC).

Oh... so this was my seat. That must be why Lysander did that. But he could’ve just told me instead of pulling me down like that.

I glanced at his chair.

Lysander (ML).

When I looked back at him, I caught him smiling at me. I ignored him and focused on the man in front.

Thanks to Nekol’s briefing in the car, I knew who he was. The man with white hair was Director Wang—one of the most well-known directors in the industry. He always brings something new to his dramas, and because of that, any actor who works with him ends up becoming famous. That’s why he only casts talented people in his projects.

Wait... my name was on the chair, which means I’ve been selected as the main character in this drama. But Director Wang hasn’t even seen my acting yet...

I was lost in thought when I suddenly felt a sharp pinch on my hand. I flinched from the pain and snapped back to reality—it was Lysander.

"What are you doing?" I glared at him.

"Director Wang is calling you."

I turned my gaze toward Director Wang. He was looking at me, and so was everyone else in the room. I must’ve been so lost in thought that I hadn’t even heard him call my name.

"Yes, Director Wang?"

"Your name must be Silas, right?"

"Yes, my name is Silas."

He paused and stared at me intently, as if scanning me with his eyes. His gaze made me nervous, and I gripped the chair tightly. Just then, Lysander placed his hand over mine—as if to calm me down.

And strangely... it was working. I was starting to feel calm too.
