Mated to A Rival Alpha-Chapter 40: The Gates of Drarun
[RANIA]
Rania and Jihoon had managed to get through the magic that surrounded the valley of the whites and from where they were standing, they could see the vampire home, Drarun. The one place where the werewolf prince was being held.
Whatever it was that got the prince to this point, it had to be worse than Kim Rania, because how the fuck would a werewolf prince ever let himself be captured?
"Unless he was captured as a kid," Rania recalled Dalrae’s voice, but that didn’t change anything.
"Let’s get it done, yeah?"
The Valley of the White’s magic wall was a hard challenge, but it was one that the two alphas had worked through eventually. It had been so hard, but with their resilience and their determination to complete their mission, they had managed.
Rania for one hurt so bad, she felt like her body was slowly cramping and it was just a matter of time before her body gave up. She couldn’t tell that to Jihoon though. The man had done everything in his power to keep Rania safe and she was sadly aware of that.
She couldn’t leave him, at least not like this, so as they walked through the last of the magic wall, it was time to put on a brave face. Any hint of pain on her end, would slow them down, and she didn’t want that.
She didn’t want Jihoon to feel guilty about her pains, when it had been her fault in the first place. They had been away from home for enough days and if they wasted a few more hours before completing the mission, Rania wouldn’t live with herself.
"Careful there mates, where are you from anyway?" one of the Drarun guards said to Rania and Jihoon. The two alphas looked like they had had the worst of days and needed to take a break.
Technically they couldn’t, but it wasn’t like they were going to share that with this band of the undead anyway. Rania looked at them, planning to attack in case the tonics hadn’t masked off the scent of their blood.
The undead had a cruel addiction to blood, one that even they couldn’t fight off, and if they so much as knew that there was fresh blood for them to drink, they wouldn’t let these two alphas leave.
Rania couldn’t afford to be captured here and if these vampires tried anything, she would kill them all without thinking of the repercussions.
"Oh, we went beyond the magic wall. Very risky, but we needed to explore, besides, what matters is we won’t ever go through again, that wall was one hell of a gamble, sigh. How about you guys, you doing great?" Jihoon spoke, before Rania could act on anything.
He knew how explosive she was and he could tell by her clamped fists that she was ready to battle it out to the end.
"Now that was too much trouble. Anyway, be careful on your way in, the king is in his usual bad mood," the guard said and his friend let out nervous laughs. They didn’t ask too many questions because Rania and Jihoon didn’t look suspicious.
The luggage they had been given to travel, they had left it all at the cave, and that made it easier for them to be assumed as some people in the castle, especially considering their horses looked like they belonged to the royals of Drarun.
Rania studied them, and could see how tense they were. For the undead, they sure were worried about their lives. What was it about king Nathaniel of Drarun that made his people worry so much?
"Damn, well. Let’s just hope he doesn’t summon us, who knows what he will do to us this time," Jihoon said and the guards just waved at the gates, which instantly opened and let the two alphas in.
The moment they walked in, Jihoon was amazed by the setup. Both of them had never stepped into Drarun, since they were born and now, they were finally in the kingdom of the freaking undead.
Frankly, they had expected the walking dead and decayed running the lands, but this was different. They looked like normal people, who had normal things to worry about. It was amazing how the undead were nothing out of the ordinary.
When the werewolf king, Seojoon, had sent them to Drarun, he had warned them of talking to everyone they came across. It was dangerous considering that the werewolf prince was imprisoned here.
King Seojoon didn’t want his alphas to share the same rotten state that his son had suffered through. Maybe he was trying to protect his alphas, but the king wasn’t exactly sure if his son had been turned or if he was the royal prince of Obren.
As a result, Rania and Jihoon had to think fast. They had to come up with strategies that didn’t involve their deaths, at least Rania’s death, considering her tonic would wear out in less than two days.
That was how much time she had to work with Jihoon and save the werewolf prince, or she would have to reveal who she truly was, and that would be a mistake.
"Where do we go from here?" Rania asked Jihoon.
The schematics they had been given for Darun had been clear. They knew what they ended up with and how to get in. Of course the initial plan was to be executed in six days, but it seemed like they had two day to make that work or join their prince as prisoners of the undead.
"We blend in," Jihoon said. That was the only way for them to find a way into the royal palace. They had entered the kingdom for the west, which was without a doubt the closest route to the central palace.
"Okay. Hold on, let’s have a look at the damned map one more time. I don’t want to have to come pick your ass too, I have other important things to do anyway," Rania said and Jihoon just got the map and handed it to her.
He was too tired to even start arguing with her, since he knew it was one he would never win.
"If we go from this point, we need to find the easiest channel to the palace," Rania said.
"We can go as warriors, or as servants," Jihoon suggested.
"We go as servants. That will make it easier for us to get to see the position of the prince, without detection. Besides, this place looks like they prefer female servants," Rania said and Jihoon openly stared at her.
Was she really going to be doing this today?
Was this what she was about to transform into?
Rania as a servant was a terrible idea and Jihoon was already doubting their survival in the kingdom. This woman screwed power even when she was tired and gray. Even when she was done and battered, she still looked like she could fight death itself. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
Rania was never born to be a servant, but she had to try and make this work. She needed to look the part.
"With you?" Jihoon asked and Rania understood him. Frankly, even she thought that her idea was insane.
"I know what you’re thinking. Trust me, I’m thinking the same too, but it’s the fastest way for me to go back home, to my Dalrae."
"Okay, servants it is. Goddess help us all."
