Chapter 166: The Long Awaited Home Run

[RANIA]

Coming from Calindra, Kim Rania had a lot to think of.

She knew that King Seojoon was looking for her and her brother. She was painfully aware that the king wouldn’t rest till Rania and her brother were at his mercy, but that was not a joy that the Kim siblings were planning on giving the king.

They had gone through so much that the king was no longer scary to them. However, there was only one problem with their beautiful plan. Rania had a weakness, one that the king wouldn’t hesitate to explore.

Seojon had always made that clear to Rania even when she was out on the wild missions. This time, she would just have to think and make sure that her sister was not in any danger because of her.

As much as the king’s hunt was scary, it would even be more dangerous if the king went to Incayon and forced Dalrae to join the search. Rania knew that too, because she was aware that Dalrae would have had no option but to comply with the search.

So far, the only people who knew that Rania was back in Incayon were Jihoon, the royals and warriors at the palace, and Rania’s friends.

They were clearly very careful with how they dealt with that information though, because no one else was aware that Rania was back home. That could also explain why the siblings had been living in the Incayon Woods for the past week since the festival had ended.

It was more of a way for the both of them to survive, but Kim Rania hadn’t come back home to survive. She had endured way too much pain and made so many sacrifices for the damned Obren to have the last laugh.

"We’re going home, Chang Wook. I know you don’t have a pack to call home at the moment, but you’re one of my greatest friends. You’re coming with me to Incayon. Anyone who has an objection can deal with it.

"There is no room for doubt, unless you have other plans in Obren now that you are back as the warrior healer. I would really love to have you back home with me.

"I know I promised to give you a tour of the beauty that was and is Incayon, and I’m sorry it will be in a crazed state this time," Rania said, her tone so stiff and strong that anyone could see that she was done making requests.

Right now, it was either Chang Wook was with her, or she was alone; and frankly, either option worked for her.

She had spent her life since the mating ball that ruined her life years ago, trying to live her life on her own, and right now, nothing could ever scare her into submission. She had already lost too much.

"Are you sure about this, Rani? I don’t mind following you to the pits of hell, but with the king coming at us, and with the Incayon wolves despising you like you didn’t do everything to make them who they are today, you are in literal danger, both at home and away from home.

"Are you sure you want to walk to the gates of Incayon like this?" Chang Wookcarefully asked his sister.

He knew that he could have simply told her that he was her biological brother and that he wasn’t going to let anyone hurt her, but he could also see that Rani had worked so hard to get to where she was today, however unhinged her state was at the moment.

She had made a lot of sacrifices and it was time the sacrifices bore fruits.

Vengeance and justice were finally on the same road for her, and Rania was leading the way to both. Whichever she met first, she wouldn’t hesitate to make it come to fruition.

"I am. I can’t keep running forever, and I can’t live as a rogue. I am going back to defend my sister and people. The king will definitely try to manipulate them to get to me and knowing Dalrae, she will try to fight back.

"Unfortunately, this isn’t a fight that my Lim Lim can win on her own. With the king choking her and the pressure of making Incayon better, I know she will have no option but to give in to the barbarian’s demands. That is why I must go to her.

"I must be there for her. The wolves of Incayon can either take me in, or live under a dictatorship. I don’t care which one they choose honestly, because I will protect Incayon from the king and themselves if I have to.

"It’s going to be dangerous, very dangerous. It’s going to be the kind of danger that we had never met in the human lands. It’s going to be hectic and you might want to give up along the way.

"I just want to tell you in advance, just in case you didn’t sign up for that crazy shit. You have options, Chang Wook, and whatever choice you make, I will respect it. I promise that it will be okay.

"I would understand you, I swear it. After all, we might end up losing more than we planned to along the way," Rania said and Chang Wook could tell that something had snapped inside his sister.

He could see that she was done holding on on the sidelines. She was tired and he wasn’t going to judge her for trying to stand up for herself. He had once been in her position and he knew what it would take.

There were too many prices to be paid, but he wasn’t worried about the price. He was worried about his sister’s well-being. That was the only thing that mattered to him at the moment, more than anything.

Kim Rania had always been reckless with her decisions since she had been banished, but right now, she was calculating, like she had already done the math in her head, and was determined to go home whether hell was waiting for her there.

He knew that the only thing left for him was to either support her or be against her. And he couldn’t let himself be against the little sister he should have protected years ago. He was going to be by her side, even if the world was going to hate them both for it.

"I’m coming with you. Your battles are my battles, Rani, even if we have to fight the goddess herself. So if Incayon is our destination, then I will lead the way there. I will protect you as I swore to you all those years ago.

"I will go to war for you, with you, but never against you. Let’s go light some fireworks at home, shall we?" Chang Wook said enthusiastically even though he was worried for Rania.

He could tell that this was going to hit harder than he had imagined. However, this was what fate had in store for the both of them and the sooner they came to terms with it, the sooner everything would be fine.

"Yeah, let’s go home," Rani said before they made their way to the waiting Incayon.

Maybe home wouldn’t be so bad, right?
