Mated to A Rival Alpha-Chapter 160: His Desirable Unforgiving Past
[JIHOON]
"Hey, are you alright?" Daehyun asked when he finally got to the Calindra alpha’s office, only to find his best friend sitting there, and diving into work.
Earlier, Daehyun had been hoping to see Jihoon focused on the pack work, but now that he was, the beta was disturbed.
He had expected his alpha to follow his luna.
He had expected Jihoon to set up and be the first to defend Yanna and yet when Yanna walked back into his arms, the man had ignored the woman.
All of this was just insane and while it may not have made any sense to the Calindra pack members, Daehyun knew just what it felt like. The world was finally opening up and Jihoon was slowly realizing what was right before him.
Maybe with this, DaeHyun wouldn’t have to play pretend with the knowledge of Yanna’s existence.
"I’m fine. We still have things to do. Send warriors to Incayon and let them ask the alpha who the treaty is coming up. We wouldn’t want to be at war with them, and certainly not at this time. Make sure that word is spread about Yanna’s returns.
"Let the king know that the woman is back and that we will be needing his help as the overall ruler in Obren," Jihoon said and Daehyun just nodded in understanding. He wasn’t sure what was happening but he was going to let Jihoon handle things this time.
Sure, Daehyun would be on his side all the time, but only as the beta this time.
Yanna being back was a very sensitive topic for the whole realm and the fact that the woman had just played them like it never meant anything was insane to begin with, but who was cunting, right?
"Anything else?" the Calindra beta asked in the hope that his best friend would open up to him. But then again, he had known Jihoon for a long time and he knew so well that Park Jihoon wasn’t going to just open up to him right now.
He was probably stuck processing what he had just witnessed, which was very okay, but damn, it would really take a while to get what he was looking for, right?
"Nothing. Just execute the orders and report back to me tomorrow," Jihoon said with a tone of finalization.
In silence, he watched as Daehyun walked out, even though there were so many questions in his head. He wanted to know what the fuck was happening and frankly, he was frustrated.
So he dived back into his work, making sure to tell the warriors who were standing guard at his office to not let anyone in, not even his parents. It was almost like he was on a mission to isolate himself from everyone, but was that really it?
Was that what he was seeking truly in this time and day when all he was thinking about was a woman he felt like he wasn’t even supposed to?
’What if I had approached her then?’ Jihoon asked himself as he opened his desk drawer and got out a photo of Rania. It was from a long time ago, long before he and Rania had hit the right age to get mates.
It was a photo of them outside the Obren castle, running around freely while their parents went on with their duties in the palace.
Oh, but those are happy times, at least for him.
The Calindra alpha hadn’t managed to talk to Rania even then, because he had been scared of her. He had been worried that Kim Rania would not give him the time of the day and for that, he had stayed at a distance.
He stayed far enough to watch her without coming off as a creepy kid, but close enough to protect her. Well, he had learned a few times that Kim Rania never needed his protection. The girl he liked was strong and formed a powerful bloodline.
She was everything that he wanted in a future Luna, and yet at the same time, he was sure that she was never going to be his.
Maybe that’s why he had stuck to watching over her from a distance, making sure to put a smile on her face even when he could just walk right up the Incayon front door and tell the alpha Kim that he had a teensy little crush on their child.
It would have been easier, if Rania was just a regular girl who could be easily wooed but she wasn’t and that was the beginning of it all.
Over the years, Jihoon worked so hard to match Rania. He had tried everything possible to be on the same level as her.
Eventually, he got to that point, the time when he could finally get the courage to talk to her, and yet when that time came, it was her birthday.
’Maybe she will forgive me in the end, right?’ Jihoon said to himself as he got more of Rania’s photos. Maybe he was creepy for having stalked Kim Rania over the years, even when she had been rejected by people she had sent to her.
In his defense, he had wanted to go talk to her, but he didn’t have the courage.
Up until Rania’s sweet sixteen, Park Jihoon was so sure that Kim Rania was his mate. He had been so certain to the point that when Rania didn’t call him her mate, he felt like all his hard work over the years had been for nothing.
He felt like his world had crashed instantly.
He had made his world about this one girl and yet now that it was time for him to see if they belonged together, if the pull he felt each time was true, he had been wrong. That in itself broke his heart, and in return gave birth to the psycho who never wanted anyone with Rania.
Jihoon was obsessed, to say the least.
He had promised himself that he would always be on Rania’s side, he would always love her from a distance, he would always protect her like he always did, but only if she belonged with him. He would only do that for her and no one else.
His obsession had been so toxic to the point that his parents had tried to stop him, but he couldn’t stop. He was addicted to the drug that was Kim Rania, something that he should have controlled from the beginning.
Maybe if he had been a good alpha, then he could have seen the subtle hints.
He could have realized that they were in a land where magic was always at work, and he could have realized that there was just no way in hell a vampire would ever be mated to a werewolf alpha. It went against everything the moon goddess stood for.
Her werewolves were only ever to mate with lycanthropes or humans. Any race beyond that would contaminate the race and that wasn’t what the moon goddess had wanted. Jihoon should have known that.
He should have remembered his training from the old times, and yet he had failed to. Now here he was in his office, staring at old photos of Rania, looking at the woman’s smile even though she had stopped smiling from her sixteenth birthday.
’Please forgive me, Rania. I’m really sorry,’ the young alpha whispered, right before his doors opened, revealing his brother, the same man he had dismissed a few hours ago.
