Mated to A Rival Alpha-Chapter 142: The One We All Betrayed
[INCAYON]
It had been a month since Incayon had been ambushed by the crown prince and the declaration made for the festival.
It hadn’t been well received at first, because the wolves, just like the Kims, were sure Lim Dalrae would probably burn everything down.
Funny how here they were, a few hours into the most meaningful night to all of Obren and more than anything, the night that meant the world to Dalrae.
The location of the festival was outside of Incayon, to ensure that there weren’t breaches into the pack, but then close enough to make sure that everyone in attendance would show up for them in case something went wrong.
But then in a place where everyone was advocating for peace and where the only anticipated terrible thing was mates rejecting each other, what could go wrong, yeah?
"This is beautiful," Jihoon commented as he made his way into the festival location.
He had seen them work on making this a reality, but then seeing the end product this beautiful was something that everyone had to give to the Incayon wolves and their alpha for making it a reality.
It wasn’t every day that things like this happened especially with all that Inacayon had gotten to bear. It was never going to be easy, but at least they were sure of that much. They had put in a lot of effort and it was just right that they gave the flowers that were deserved.
"Of course, it is. It’s the grand festival, hosted by the pack addicted to partying. I’d say we didn’t expect them to do any less," Daehyun said proudly as he walked alongside his best friend.
They had woken up earlier today, and gone back home, where their people were obviously shocked to see them.
Jihoon had still not been in the mood to say anything to his people, but they all seemed to know that, because they just acknowledged their alpha and beta and then went back to preparing to go to the festival.
Of course, that did hurt Jihoo a bit, but even he knew that he had brought this upon himself. There was no way he would expect them to forgive his antics just because today was supposed to be a happy day.
Betrayal had consequences, and they needed to be ready for them, no matter what happened.
Currently, the two brothers were dressed in black tuxes that made them look like royalty. They looked so damn good and turned heads whenever they walked.
They didn’t look like they had a ghost problem with them but that wouldn’t mean much if Jihoon didn’t see Yanna again.
Daehyun was graciously hoping that Yanna wouldn’t show up here today, but then it was just a long wish, one that had the highest probability of not coming true.
"Let’s go sit with the alphas. That’s the best angle in the whole festival and we can see anyone who gets in and out. Who knows, we might just see Yanna again.
"And I’ll prove to you that she wasn’t just a figment of my brain and my illusions, hmm?" Jihoon asked and Daehyun, seeing as there was no other way out tonight, figured that they could go on and mingle with the alphas.
It was the only thing they could afford tonight anyway.
Together, the brothers made their way through the crowd that was happy, excited, and slowly getting drunk while waiting for the midnight moon to give them to their mates. Some were wasted, even though it wasn’t even an hour to midnight.
Then again, no one would judge the other, seeing as their worlds were about to be turned upside down, or they would be shining through the night like a starry night.
Everyone was dressed to kill and as Jihoon had noticed, the royals hadn’t arrived yet. They were expected tonight though, because Jungwoo was the one who had suggested the location of the festival. They could just hope that everything went smoothly.
While Jihoon and Daehyun were making their way to the alpha’s space, they noticed that they hadn’t seen Lim Dalrae anywhere. For the alpha that was hosting the festival, Dalrae sure had a nice way of making her presence known.
The festival had officially begun five hours ago, and in those five hours, the alphas and even the rogue queen had come and yet no one had sighted Lim Dalrae.
Not even her people.
It was almost like she had made the festival for them and she didn’t want to be here with them. However, was that relay the case right now? Was that really enough to convince the bunch of wolves that their host did not want to make a show?
"Alpha Kim, Luna Kim. Quite the festival here. May I know where Alpha Dalrae is?" Jihoon asked an hour later, when no one had seen Dalrae yet. The royals had already come and frankly, it was raising more brows.
Dalrae couldn’t snub the king, right?
Surely that wouldn’t be a good show for her who had worked tirelessly for the festival to become a reality no? But did Dalrae care even about the damn festival or was she somewhere waiting with her fingers crossed for when her favorite person showed up?
Oh, but it was a long gamble, but one that Lim Dalrae was sure she would win.
"The alpha is quite busy. We will be in charge until she shows up. I trust you love the setting, no?" Luna Kim responded before her husband could say anything.
She knew that her husband didn’t know where the alpha was and if he talked then there was a chance that many more people would be curious to know what the fuck was happening here and why the fuck Dalrae hadn’t once shown up. It was strange, but not unexpected.
"Yes, we are. You did a good job with it. This is the greatest reminder of the reputation your pack has with parties. You didn’t disappoint and that’s encouraging," Jihoon said, given that he wasn’t sure what he could say next.
Between thinking of Rania and wondering whether the Yanna he had seen was real, Jihoon was worried about Lim Dalrae.
He had seen the woman work tirelessly to make this day a reality and her not being here was really suspicious. She had made this, for Rania and yet she wasn’t even here to greet the very royals that were supposed to be greeted by the hosting alpha.
"I shall greet the king and the prince. Excuse me," Jihoon said, and the other alphas just nodded at him. They had greeted the royals already so this wasn’t new to them.
Besides, given that Jihoon had spearheaded the mission to make Rania pay, they had all assumed that he had a special relationship with the royals.
Maybe he could use that to his advantage tonight, but what were the odds that he would be able to get the answers he was seeing?
As he walked towards the royals, Jihoon was suddenly intercepted by the crown prince, Jeon Jungwoo.
"We need to talk," Jungwoo said and Jihoon agreed before following the prince a little farther from the venue of the festival.
"What’s going on? You look tense."
"She’s back."
"Who?"
"The one we all betrayed."
"Kim Rania?"
"Yeah. Kim Rania is back in Obren; and here at the festival, looking like the angel of death."
