Master, Your Wife Has Become a Super Star Through Fortune-Telling-Chapter 142 - 143: Everything Happens for a Reason
Zhang laughed awkwardly. "I just misunderstood them, that’s all. I run a shop, after all. Of course I have to be concerned about my business."
Su Nian’s eyes were deep and knowing. A faint, unreadable smile played on her lips, as if she could see through all of Zhang’s excuses.
Being watched by her like that, Zhang felt completely exposed. He quickly took two steps back, a hint of embarrassment in his eyes.
But on second thought, he felt he had his reasons. He straightened his back, adopting a self-righteous air.
He knew this Master was incredibly skilled. Her fortune-telling was uncannily accurate; she knew everything and had never been wrong.
He had some unsavory incidents in his past, and in front of her, he was surely like an open book, unable to hide any secrets.
However, he’d never done anything truly evil. Besides, that vocational school was known for having plenty of hooligans. He was just worried, so frisking them and asking some questions... that was hardly a crime.
Besides, what could those past incidents possibly have to do with this strange illness he had now? The Master probably wouldn’t meddle and dig up his old dirt. She was likely just reminding him not to do it again.
Su Nian saw him go from flustered to calm and composed in an instant, and the corners of her lips curved into a smile.
’There really is a reason for everything. He totally deserves this.’
’No wonder this happened to him. It’s all just karmic retribution.’
She raised her gaze slightly and stared into Zhang’s eyes. "I’ll be straight with you. What’s happening to you is directly related to you bullying those vocational school students in the past."
Hearing her definitive answer, Zhang became even more agitated. His brows furrowed, and his otherwise decent-looking face took on a harsh, fierce expression.
"I knew it! Not a single one of those vocational school students is any good! I go through all the trouble of stocking cigarettes for them to smoke, and just because I checked them a few times... I swear I didn’t do anything else! And they have the gall to retaliate against me like this!"
He seemed furious, his face wrinkling with rage.
He even muttered, "No, I have to get them back for this, those little bastards!"
He then turned around as if to make a phone call.
Su Nian found this laughable and cut him off bluntly, "Is your brain clogged with a toilet brush?"
"’Go through all the trouble of stocking cigarettes for them?’ You know perfectly well that selling cigarettes to minors is illegal. It’s bad enough that you sneak around selling to them for your own selfish profit, but now you have the audacity to say it in such a sanctimonious way."
Zhang’s heart skipped a beat. He turned back with a faint smile.
Even though Su Nian’s words were harsh, he didn’t dare say much in return. This was a famous Master. If she decided to cause a little trouble for him, he’d be finished.
He didn’t dare put on his usual tough-guy act like he did with the students at the school gate. Instead, he faced Su Nian with an awkward, apologetic smile.
"Yes, you’re right, I was wrong. But I suspected them of stealing. I think what I did was normal, wasn’t it?"
Su Nian took a bite of a peach and rolled her eyes, letting the sweet fragrance of the fruit flood her mouth.
"So what you’re saying is, you frisked them just because you were suspicious? You really think you were in the right?"
"Wow, so impressive. Should I give you an award for that? You’re so amazing, you should take a picture and post it in your family group chat. This is a joyous occasion that would bring honor to your ancestors! They should engrave it on your tombstone when you die!"
Zhang was used to being flattered and respected at the school gate. Hearing Su Nian’s biting sarcasm, his expression began to crack. He gritted his teeth. "So what? I just frisked them! What right do those little sons of bitches have to do this to my eyes!"
