Master of Dominion-Chapter 77:A Dire situation
The scale of the array’s attack literally left everyone, including Rael, dumbstruck, causing Xaphxan, Iyvre, and Yasmin to turn towards him, with the latter glaring fiercely.
"It could do that all this while and you decided to use it now?" Yasmin yelled. Even though she knew it probably drained a lot of energy, the clearly burnt and uprooted trees, forming a shallow crater around the territory, were proof of the sigil’s capability.
Rael didn’t know what to say, honestly. For even though he’d connected to the array through his Dominion Sense and knew about the two types of attacks the array could muster, there was no way he could have known that the rebound attack would be that deadly.
But yet, his Dominion Sense gave him feedback on how many aether beasts the sigil had drained just in containing and redirecting parts of the sound attack from the Withered bats which only proved how powerful that sound wave attack truly was.
Rael chose to ignore Yasmin’s outburst and rushed towards Ayobe within the outer array, with the others following behind him.
"Try to use the kinetic attacks instead; they consume less energy," Rael advised. He knew full well that even though the sigil’s rebound attack was the best for their situation right now, if it kept on being used, it would empty out the aether beasts they had locked up before the third night even arrived.
"Easier said than done!" Ayobe hissed, her eyes still closed and slightly twitching. Obviously, the sigil seemed to require all of her focus and mental strength to control.
Rael turned his eyes back to the sky, which was still mostly filled with the Withered bats that now seemed to fly in a whirlpool around the dome, occasionally slamming into it and making it flicker slightly.
His mind easily came to the obvious fact that these Withered bats were not as direct as the vermins were; the latter were just suicidal like every other Withered spawn.
But with these, it was only a few that broke out of the pattern of the whirlpool to charge headfirst at the sigil, as if breaking out of some constraint that bound them.
’Something truly is controlling them.’
Rael couldn’t help but have a reckless idea crawl out of the depths of his mind, but at the same time, it seemed to be the only way to draw whatever it was out.
He turned back to Ayobe, about to prompt her to try the kinetic attack of the sigil, but it seemed she was already on it.
Above the dome, certain spots started glowing and charging with more vibrant light and, of course, aether. As more Withered bats seemed to break the constraint that held them to the whirlpool and charge at it, those spots of light burst out into more compressed and solid balls of aether bolts that smashed through the Withered bats before erupting into small, minimized explosions.
Boom, boom, boom!
Rael took note of the seven attacks that were sent out and how much they had drained from the captured beasts. He quickly noticed that it seemed Ayobe had changed the absorption from one beast each to all the beasts in order to share the burden, which was smart.
"How many of those attacks can the sigil muster?" Yasmin asked, having felt the destructibility of each of those attacks that was equal or even surpassing her stronger fireball spell.
"A lot..." Ayobe replied, before squinting her closed brows. "But it takes time to charge, and I can’t really control the directions of the attacks."
"That’s good enough, but the wave is avoiding direct contact with the sigils," Yasmin added, also taking note of the whirlpool that kept expanding and shrouding the entire territory in darkness.
"That’s because it’s preparing for a greater attack," Iyvre finally spoke, her still gaze directed upwards, exactly above the dome where a bigger mass of Withered bats was growing.
Just like the others, she too had noticed that this wave was intelligent; but unlike the rest, she knew that Withered spawns or even husks were not meant to be intelligent beings.
But.
There was an exception, however it was one she hadn’t for once thought would actually happen to them, after all, it was a myth of some sort.
While Iyvre contemplated their grim situation, the rest looked up to the dense and humongous ball of Withered bats that had formed above the dome.
"Shit," Rael quickly realized that the whirlpool was just used to block their vision from seeing what was being formed above them.
"We cannot let that land on the arrays; it’ll drain us dry!" Ayobe yelled, but Rael had already dashed beyond the dome with his sword drawn.
"Xaphxan!" he yelled as he prepared to attack the mass of Withered bats with the Great Bloodrend.
Xaphxan, immediately taking the cue of what Rael implied, moved his palms together as he quickly recited the necessary incantations, causing tiny sparks to cross through his palms. Yasmin also clasped her palms together as five red balls of flame condensed within her palms before swelling in size.
Iyvre, on the other hand, had rushed after Rael with a white glowing sword following behind her
Immediately as Rael emerged from the dome, countless Withered bats rushed toward him, but he cared little for that. He held the sword with both hands, tightening his grip before shifting into the WarMaster’s Precision state. He poured a large amount of his aether into his sword, causing the slight scars along his arms ,which had already scabbed over to burst open. Small streams of blood coalesced and charged into a glowing crimson beam.
He swung it toward the mass.
Rumble!
Just then, a blue bolt swooshed toward the mass alongside five yoga-ball-sized fireballs. They immediately collided with the cluster, causing that spot to erupt into an explosion that burnt and tore through the swarm.
But that wasn’t all. A great arc of crimson light, spanning six meters in length and accompanied by a white beam in the shape of a sword, sliced through the expanding explosion. Causing the mass to erupt into a more sound-ripping explosion.
KABOOM
