Chapter 162 - The God of Thunder Appears

The success of the second-generation Sentinels instantly shocked every nation across the globe, especially Russia and China.

They, too, had been researching mecha-based war machines for some time. However, due to limitations in energy sources and materials, their progress was almost nonexistent.

And now, before they had even figured out a proper development path, the US had already launched second generation Sentinels—machines that reaped enemies like gods of war. How could they possibly accept such a disparity?

As a result, they immediately sent diplomats to contact Umbrella, offering land and a ten-year tax exemption, hoping to persuade the company to build factories in their territories.

Adam left this matter to Luna to handle. He had more important things to attend to.

The Sky Eye Satellite, hovering over New Mexico, detected an intense energy fluctuation.

The images transmitted back showed swirling clouds converging at a single point, forming a vortex. A rainbow shimmered in the sky.

Checking the timeline, Adam smirked.

Looks like that unlucky Thor has finally arrived.

........

Nightfall~

A silver moon hung high in the sky, casting a faint glow over a barren stretch of land in New Mexico.

A small town, Puente Antiguo, stood in the middle of this desolate land.

The town had a small population, only a few thousand people. Due to the infertile soil, farming was nearly impossible, forcing the residents to rely on imported food supplies.

At this moment, inside a local hospital, a tall, broad-shouldered blonde man lay on a hospital bed.

His fingers twitched slightly. His eyelids trembled.

Suddenly, he woke up.

'Who am I? Where am I? What happened?'

Staring at the sterile white ceiling, fragmented memories gradually resurfaced in his mind.

'Right... I am Thor, God of Thunder, son of Odin.'

The Frost Giants had invaded Asgard multiple times through unknown means, slaughtering many Asgardian warriors. Enraged, he led his comrades to Jotunheim, the Frost Giants' homeworld, intent on slaying their king, Laufey.

However, Laufey proved far stronger than expected, and his forces were overwhelming.

Thor soon found himself trapped in a desperate situation. Just as things turned dire, Heimdall intervened, opening the Bifröst Bridge to rescue them.

But upon returning to Asgard, his father, Odin, furious with his recklessness, stripped him of his divine powers, banishing him to Midgard (Earth).

Even his Mjolnir, the legendary hammer, no longer answered his call.

'Wait... Father said that if I can prove myself worthy, I will reclaim my power.'

Thor's eyes flashed with determination.

He abruptly sat up, intent on finding Mjolnir. However, the hospital staff immediately noticed his movements and rushed to his bedside.

"Hey, you need to lie down and rest!"

"We're still running tests—you were seriously injured."

"Stay put! Don't pull out the IV!"

Still disoriented, Thor saw the white-clad figures surrounding him and instinctively pushed one aside.

"You dare attack the son of Odin?"

More medical staff rushed in, trying to restrain him.

"Help! We need backup!"

"Call security!"

"Security! Emergency in Room 3!"

Even without his godly powers, Thor was still an Asgardian—his physical strength far surpassed ordinary humans.

He easily overpowered the doctors, pushing them away and making a break for the exit. Even the security guards who arrived were knocked aside effortlessly.

The chaos escalated until a nurse suddenly jabbed a sedative into Thor's back.

His body immediately felt weak.

"You... dare... use... cowardly... poison... on me..."

His voice slurred, and darkness consumed him once more.

The next morning~

On a hill in New Mexico, several locals drove out at sunrise, searching for last night's meteorite impact site.

It wasn't long before they stumbled upon a massive crater, and inside it, a hammer embedded in the earth. The group of onlookers quickly exited their vehicle, eyes wide with disbelief.

"Holy hell... what did we just find?"

"A meteorite! We found last night's meteorite! Quick, let's get a closer look!"

"Wait a minute... Why does this 'meteorite' look like a hammer?"

"Oh my God... Is this a miracle?"

Before they could fully process the situation, the sky suddenly rumbled with the deafening thud-thud-thud of helicopter blades.

Looking up, they saw over a dozen helicopters rapidly approaching.

Each aircraft bore the distinctive red-and-white Umbrella logo, and beneath them, shipping containers were being carried by cables.

The bystanders barely had time to react before the helicopters arrived overhead.

One by one, the containers were released, slamming into the ground with a series of thunderous impacts.

*Boom! Boom! Boom!*

Within moments, the crater and the hammer were completely enclosed by the metal containers, cutting them off from view.

At the same time, several black-armored soldiers leaped from the helicopters, landing in front of the stunned onlookers. They wielded electromagnetic rifles, aiming them at the civilians.

"This site is now under Umbrella Corporation's jurisdiction," the squad leader announced.

"All unauthorized personnel, leave immediately."

The locals hesitated. They weren't the kind of people who were easily intimidated. Rugged and tough, they had seen their fair share of fights.

But Umbrella's USS combat unit?

That was an entirely different beast.

"Alright, alright! We're leaving!"

Without further argument, they jumped back into their car, slammed on the gas, and sped away.

Watching them flee, the squad leader lifted his visor, revealing his face—William.

"Hah. Smart decision," he scoffed. "Alright, spread out. Sweep the perimeter for any remaining stragglers."

"Yes, sir!"

Several soldiers immediately moved out to secure the area.

At that moment, Psylocke, twin swords strapped to her back, approached William, "William, what is that hammer?"

"Oh? You checked it out already?"

"Not only did I look at it, I tried to pull it out. It didn't budge."

"Hah! That just means it's waiting for someone strong enough to claim it. Watch and learn!"

William cracked his knuckles and marched toward the hammer, confidence radiating off him.

However, someone had beaten him to it.

Standing beside Mjolnir, gripping its handle, was none other than USS Captain Frank Castle.

William immediately grimaced.

"Dammit. I was too slow. That bastard's gonna steal the credit again..."

Yet, despite his efforts, the hammer refused to budge. Frank exhaled sharply and stepped back, his cold gaze settling on William.

He didn't speak, but his message was clear: 'You won't be able to pull it out either.'

Undeterred, William rolled his shoulders and strode forward.

"The boss said that whoever lifts this hammer gets to keep it," he smirked. "So don't come crying to me when I walk away with it."
