Chapter 147 - 147

On the table.

Everyone's faces were full of joy. From strangers at the beginning, they had quickly become good friends who talked about everything.

Even though the others were Angels—beings of great power and ancient origin—their inherently kind nature made it easy for Finn and the others to bond with them.

After the meal, the old patriarch took them toward the source of the beam of light. Since they had expressed interest, it wasn't a problem.

More importantly, Finn and his group were considered crucial allies—saviors, even—to the Angelic race.

That was why the old patriarch was so willing to lead them toward the heart of the sacred site.

On the way.

The old patriarch showed no arrogance, instead walking alongside them while sharing the history and legacy of their kind. The Angelic Order, as he explained, had once been scattered across the stars after a catastrophic event during the Celestial Wars. But here, in this peaceful pocket dimension, they had found sanctuary—what he now called the Angelic Haven.

Finn and the others were intrigued, listening intently. Not once did boredom or impatience cross their faces.

"Did the power you Angels gained come from that beam of light?" Stephen asked, his voice thoughtful. He cast his gaze toward the flickering energy column in the distance, falling into deep thought.

He had been shocked since first encountering the Angels. The energy surrounding them was immense—comparable to the energy fields generated in pocket universes or even those connected to the Dark Dimension.

It wasn't unlike the reality where the Scarlet Witch once unraveled the multiversal threads. And that's what startled him.

"It's nearly accurate to say that," the patriarch responded. "But that beam is also extremely dangerous. Without sufficient power, merely approaching it can burn you to nothing."

His voice grew serious.

Even he, with his millennia of existence and divine aura, dared not approach it casually. Only when all Angels gathered and summoned a divine barrier reinforced by sacred incantations could they manage to withstand the intensity.

"Then, according to what you're saying, doesn't that mean you can't absorb its power directly?" Finn asked, puzzled. "If it's that volatile, wouldn't even your people risk being destroyed just by getting close?"

Brice caught Finn's confusion and stepped in with a calm explanation. "Not exactly. The energy emitted by the beam is overwhelming, yes, but our people possess a unique form of celestial magic—one that can gradually neutralize its destructive nature. This allows us to draw power without being harmed."

Finn and the others nodded, understanding the nuance now. These were sacred techniques that weren't meant to be casually discussed, and even though they'd grown close, it was clear some knowledge had to remain private.

"However," the old patriarch said with a warm smile, "once we arrive at the beam, you can try it yourselves. If you succeed in resonating with it, the power within will be yours."

Brice looked like he wanted to say something, but kept quiet.

From the battle earlier, he could sense that these outsiders—especially Finn—were no weaker than their own elite warriors. That concerned him. If they succeeded in drawing from the beam, a significant portion of that sacred power could be consumed.

The old patriarch noticed Brice's hesitation and gave him a reassuring pat on the shoulder. His gaze conveyed trust: Let it be.

Brice relaxed.

Under the old patriarch's lead, the group finally arrived at the structure that held the beam—the Angelic Bifrost.

Birds soared overhead, and the sky shimmered like a crystal dome. The entire place radiated a sense of sacred peace—like a sanctuary untouched by the chaos of the multiverse.

Below them, the bridge glowed faintly, the holy energy streaming through the surface like divine rivers. It stretched far ahead, its end obscured by light itself.

"Finn, doesn't this bridge look a bit like the Bifrost in Asgard?" Wanda asked, eyes twinkling with curiosity.

She remembered her visit to Asgard vividly. She had scanned its landscapes and structures discreetly, capturing and memorizing much of it. The resemblance here brought those memories back with clarity.

"It's not just like it—it is," Finn replied, smiling. "Ask Thor. He knows better than me."

Thor gave a chuckle, spreading his arms. "Li speaks the truth. The craftsmanship is different, but the spiritual resonance—this structure—feels like it was modeled after our Bifrost. Not a copy, but a counterpart."

He peered forward toward the beam. It was distant, almost unreachable, yet its energy rippled with every step they took.

Though not oppressive, the radiance was ever-present—gentle but absolute.

"...Finn, don't you wish we could just walk this bridge forever?" Wanda murmured, her voice carrying a sense of longing.

This place had a serenity that rivaled Asgard's nobility. But the feeling was different.

Asgard made one feel like standing tall—ready to face all challenges. This place made you want to stay forever—let go of burdens and simply exist.

Both were powerful, but one invited war and the other, peace.

"If you wish to come here again, our Angelic Order will welcome you anytime," the old patriarch said warmly. His invitation wasn't just diplomatic—it was genuine.

"The old man's right," Brice added, smiling earnestly. "Truth is, we don't have many friends outside our duties. Having visitors—ones like you—is something we cherish."

"If we get the chance, we'll definitely come again," Finn said with a gentle smile.

The others nodded in agreement.

There was something in this place that touched all of them—some primal memory of peace, of home. In the chaos of cosmic wars, rare was the space where one could just be.

"Yes! Hahaha, you'll always be welcome," Brice said, sincerely happy.

They continued their light conversation until they arrived near the beam of light.

This close, the radiance was no longer gentle.

It roared silently—its presence like a sun veiled behind divinity. Flames danced through the air, curling in vibrant gold and violet strands. The sheer heat radiating from it was palpable, pushing against their skin like a pressure field.

Without the protection of the Angels' sacred aura, they would have been incinerated by now.

At the beam's base, several Angels formed a defensive formation, their wings outstretched as they poured sacred energy into a containment barrier—one interwoven with the very same spells used by the Ancient One in her defense of Earth's Sanctum.

Each sigil pulsed with astral fire, etched into the very fabric of the space around them.

"We're close enough. Beyond this point, you must enter one at a time," the old patriarch warned. "The beam will respond to you—judge your worth. If it deems you worthy, it will allow you to draw from it. If not..."

He didn't finish the sentence.

The implication hung in the air like a sword suspended by a thread.

Finn stepped forward.

Stephen placed a hand on his shoulder. "Be careful. This is no ordinary dimensional current. This feels like raw cosmic code. The kind we see only in anomalies—Eternity's Veil, the Null Zones, even the energy radiating from the World Forge."

"I'll be fine," Finn replied. He stepped forward calmly, eyes locked on the radiant beam.

The air vibrated. The beam flared.

The Angels stood by, watching silently, while Brice and Wanda held their breath.
