Marvel: Hunter-Chapter 347: Wakanda
Now that he had already located a Wakandan spacecraft, entering Wakanda next would be much easier.
Blaine focused his mental energy on the bright spot glinting beneath the sunlight and followed closely behind it.
However, something unexpected happened again.
That point of light remained in Blaine’s sight for barely three seconds before vanishing in the next instant. Yes—it disappeared completely, right as Blaine concentrated all his attention on it.
Fortunately, the one thing that didn’t disappoint him was that at the exact moment the light vanished, Blaine keenly detected a trace of energy fluctuation lingering in the distant air.
Following the direction of that fluctuation, Blaine rushed forward. He absolutely couldn’t let it disappear again—if Wakanda’s energy shield really had the ability to shift positions automatically, he would truly be dumbfounded.
And speaking of dumbfounded, something genuinely shocking happened.
Blaine felt like he had just spread his legs and hadn’t even taken two steps when he suddenly sensed the presence of the energy shield right in front of him. What was ridiculous was that this location was less than ten kilometers away from where Blaine had been just moments earlier.
"Oh, I lost. My mentality just collapsed."
"It was this close, and I even scanned it with my mental power."
"How did I not notice it?"
"So this is Wakanda’s technology."
"As expected—hundreds of years ahead of the rest of the world."
Blaine estimated that if the shield hadn’t been right in front of him, even he wouldn’t have been able to detect it. After all, when the energy fluctuations caused by the spacecraft passing through the shield disappeared, Blaine was shocked to discover that the shield didn’t ripple at all. It emitted no excess energy whatsoever.
Since he was already here, Blaine hurried forward. There was no way he was letting it slip away now.
Although this shield could conceal Wakanda and repel foreign invaders, it shouldn’t have worked on Blaine. As long as he wanted to, a single teleportation should have allowed him to easily enter a place other nations had dreamed of reaching for generations.
Yet another slap in the face came immediately afterward.
When Blaine locked onto a position beyond the shield and activated teleportation, he was stunned to find that his body hadn’t moved an inch.
"Huh?"
"What’s going on?"
"Teleportation stopped working?" 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
After trying several more times, Blaine remained standing exactly where he was. This left him completely dumbfounded—this really was the first time something like this happened.
Teleportation, which had always been practically invincible, had suddenly failed. Wasn’t that strange? Could Wakanda’s protective barrier actually prevent spatial traversal as well?
But that didn’t make sense. No matter how powerful the shield was, it should only block physical intrusion. Teleportation was spatial movement—did this shield really have the ability to interfere with space itself?
As Blaine pondered this, something clicked in his mind. He vaguely remembered a scene from the Avengers’ civil conflict.
Vision had once phased his body, turning intangible, and effortlessly passed through Ant-Man Scott’s body. T’Challa had been present at the time. Perhaps inspired by that incident, T’Challa had modified Wakanda’s national shield accordingly.
Facing such an extraordinary defensive system, Blaine’s interest was immediately piqued.
"You want to block my path?"
"Then let me see whether your technology is stronger than my fist."
With that, Blaine smiled faintly, raised his fist to his mouth, exhaled once, and punched straight at the protective shield.
The shield lived up to its reputation—it was incredibly sturdy. Blaine’s powerful punch only caused it to tremble a few times. There was no breakthrough like Blaine had expected. After shaking briefly, the shield returned to normal, and it even seemed sturdier than before.
"Oops."
"Still solid."
"Again."
Blaine had originally thought there was nothing on Earth that could withstand his punch. Reality, however, proved him wrong. He hadn’t expected a defensive barrier to suppress him like this.
Of course, Blaine hadn’t used his full strength just now. This time, he got serious.
His right fist clenched tightly, knuckles cracking sharply. The next moment, his punch slammed into the shield with a thunderous boom, like a shell fired from an armored vehicle.
However, what Blaine didn’t expect was that the area he struck suddenly opened into a large hole on its own. His fist passed straight through the shield.
This outcome disgusted Blaine. He had gathered all his strength for that strike, only to end up hitting empty air.
It was like jumping from a great height, fully prepared for the terrifying sensation of freefall, only to suddenly find yourself standing firmly on the ground instead—catching you completely off guard and almost making you stumble.
"Fuck—are you messing with me?!"
This situation clearly startled Blaine. What made his heart race even more was that the protective shield was rapidly contracting. If he didn’t pull his hand back in time, it might have been cleanly severed in the next instant.
"Tch..."
"Alright, I’m pissed."
"You’re trying to cut off my arm—aren’t you afraid of breaking your own shield?"
Despite his words, Blaine didn’t dare lower his guard. No one knew what kind of twisted tricks this shield might still have.
He was here for Vibranium, not to wrestle endlessly with a barrier. If brute force wasn’t enough, Blaine still had other ways in. He refused to believe there was still a place on Earth that could truly stop him.
If he really got annoyed, he’d go straight into the sky and smash the shield apart entirely. No matter how tough it was, it still relied on energy. Blaine was confident that ten full-force strikes would be enough to render it completely ineffective.
And if that still didn’t work, he’d just upgrade the Hunter space to version 3.0. At that point, not only the shield—even Wakanda itself, along with its Vibranium mountains, could be taken away wholesale.
Just as the protective barrier was shrinking at high speed, a sudden white light burst forth from Blaine’s body. In an instant, it enveloped him completely, expanding outward to form a luminous dome that covered a radius of four to five meters around him.
It was the energy shield Blaine had just learned.
The newly formed shield made contact with Wakanda’s barrier and, incredibly, melted into it as if merging seamlessly—almost as though Blaine’s energy shield had opened a door within the massive defensive wall.
