Martial Arts Overlord-Chapter 471 - 469: Arrogance
The dozen or so guards in the plaza before the City Lord Mansion all bore black flame insignias.
Luo Feng recognized this emblem. It was the symbol of the City Lord Mansion of Flame Sand City, one of the four major cities in the Flowing Cloud Region.
What are people from Flame Sand City doing in Dayang City?
Luo Feng observed the guards, his brow slightly furrowed. Flame Sand City was tens of thousands of miles from Dayang City, and there was very little interaction between the two.
Furthermore, these guards were all formidable, each with cultivation levels at the eighth stage of the Hell Realm or higher; they were the elite among elites. The individual in the carriage possessed robust Yuan Qi and was clearly a late-stage expert at the ninth level of the Heavenly Court Realm. The visitor’s identity was likely extraordinary.
Shaking his head, Luo Feng didn’t dwell on it. His purpose for visiting the City Lord Mansion was simply to give Yang Dingtian the Qingling Pill to counteract the poison; nothing else concerned him.
"Lad, what are you looking at? Scram!"
A mounted guard, apparently noticing Luo Feng’s gaze, turned and yelled arrogantly.
Instantly, Luo Feng felt more than a dozen fierce gazes lock onto him.
Ordinary people likely wouldn’t dare to raise their heads when faced with such piercing gazes.
No wonder it’s so deserted here.
Luo Feng’s mind was clear; he remained unaffected by the intimidating presence of the Flame Sand City guards. Shaking his head, he walked forward.
The guard who had spoken frowned. Hmm?
The young man before him seemed unaffected by his intimidating aura. Not only that, but he dared to walk forward, clearly disregarding his words. This immediately enraged the guard.
"Kid, this isn’t a place for you! Get lost, now!"
Feeling his dignity challenged, the guard rode forward, blocked Luo Feng’s path, and commanded in a deep voice.
Luo Feng frowned slightly and looked up. "I’m looking for City Lord Yang."
"Hahaha..." The guard burst into laughter. Turning to his companions, he pointed at Luo Feng and jeered, "Did you hear that? This destitute-looking brat actually wants to see City Lord Yang! Does he know where he is?"
The other guards glanced at Luo Feng, smirking disdainfully.
Luo Feng was alone, and his clothes were somewhat worn from days of travel. The guards all took him for an ignorant fool who overestimated himself.
"You stinking brat, do you think the City Lord is someone just anyone can meet? Disappear from my sight while I’m still in a good mood, or don’t blame me for being impolite!"
The guard looked down at Luo Feng arrogantly, clearly relishing the feeling of superiority.
Luo Feng remained unmoved, disdaining to argue. Shaking his head, he started to walk around the guard towards the main gate of the City Lord Mansion.
"Chen Er, it looks like your words carry no weight." The nearby guards snickered.
Chen Er’s face darkened. As a guard of the Flame Sand City’s City Lord Mansion, he was accustomed to respectful treatment. To be ignored by a mere youth today filled him with rage. A cold gleam flashed in his eyes as he suddenly raised his horsewhip, lashing out at Luo Feng’s back.
WHAP!
The horsewhip cut through the air with a sharp shriek, fast as lightning and drawn taut.
If this whip landed, it would undoubtedly tear flesh from bone.
Hearing the whistle of the whip, Luo Feng, without turning his head, reached out and caught it accurately.
Turning, Luo Feng fixed his sharp gaze on the attacking guard. "You dare to strike?" he asked coldly.
The guard, stunned for a moment, quickly recovered with a malicious sneer. "So what if I do? Even if I cripple you today, no one would dare say a word!"
With that, the guard channeled his Yuan Qi and yanked hard, trying to send Luo Feng flying.
BUZZ!
The horsewhip instantly snapped taut, but Luo Feng didn’t budge an inch.
"What!" The guard’s face stiffened. With his mid-eighth stage Hell Realm strength, enough to kill a Level Three Demon Beast with one punch, he couldn’t even budge this youth!
"What’s happening?"
"Chen Er can’t move him! Could this kid be an expert?"
"Impossible. Chen Er is a mid-eighth stage Hell Realm expert. He must be toying with the boy and hasn’t used his full strength yet."
The other guards also sensed something was wrong and began to murmur amongst themselves, though none planned to intervene.
In their eyes, a fifteen or sixteen-year-old youth couldn’t possibly be Chen Er’s match.
The commotion attracted the attention of the brocade-clad, middle-aged man in the carriage, whose gaze also shifted towards the scene.
Feeling these gazes, Chen Er felt as if thorns pricked his back. He glared at Luo Feng, his face grim, and seethed, "Kid, let go!"
Luo Feng, still gripping the horsewhip, narrowed his eyes.
He hadn’t wanted to cause trouble in front of the City Lord Mansion, but now trouble had found him.
Cripple me, you say?
A cold smirk touched Luo Feng’s lips, a sharp glint in his eyes. With a flick of his right hand—
"AH!" With a cry, amidst the horrified stares of the onlookers, Chen Er—horse and all—was flung through the air, crashing into a stone sculpture a hundred meters away.
RUMBLE!
The nearly five-meter-tall stone sculpture exploded. Chen Er screamed as he was slammed violently to the ground.
"You..." Pointing at Luo Feng, Chen Er coughed up a mouthful of blood, his neck lolled to one side, and he fainted.
This scene left everyone present dumbfounded.
A mid-eighth stage Hell Realm expert, defeated in a single blow, his condition unknown.
"Audacious! How dare you injure our men!"
"Get him! Break his arms and legs! Let him learn the consequences of harming men from the Flame Sand City’s City Lord Mansion!"
"That’s right! First, cripple his cultivation! Let’s see if he still dares to be arrogant then!"
After a moment, the other Flame Sand City guards recovered from their shock. All eyes, sharp and filled with killing intent, fixed on Luo Feng.
Now, they didn’t just want to teach him a lesson; they wanted to kill him.
Luo Feng stood his ground, watching the Flame Sand City guards surround him. His gaze was calm as he stated coldly, "Anyone who wants to cripple my cultivation, feel free to try."
A dozen or so guards encircled Luo Feng. One sneered, "Still talking tough? We’ll show you there’s always someone stronger, a heaven beyond heaven!"
As his voice fell, a terrifying surge of Yuan Qi erupted. The guard who had spoken attacked, unleashing a Palm Gang the size of a millstone that shot towards Luo Feng.
Luo Feng gave a cold laugh and countered with a palm strike.
BOOM!
A massive explosion thundered as the airflow turned chaotic. The surrounding air seemed to compress infinitely from the force of this palm, then violently expanded.
BANG!
The guard’s Palm Gang vanished like a moth drawn to a flame.
"AH!" With a miserable shriek, the attacking guard was sent flying, spewing blood. His horse and armor were blasted apart by the force of the palm.
HISS! Gasps sounded around as the Flame Sand City guards stared at Luo Feng in their midst, swallowing hard.
That palm strike moments ago had seemed powerful enough to shatter mountains and crack the earth. Even standing nearby, they felt a chill run down their spines!
Only now did these men realize Luo Feng’s earlier words weren’t empty boasts; he truly possessed the strength to look down on them.
BOOM!
Just as the guards hesitated, unsure whether to advance or retreat, an overwhelming aura suddenly pressed down. The middle-aged man from the carriage had, at some point, drawn near.
"Housekeeper He!" The guards’ faces lit up with relief at the sight of the newcomer.
Housekeeper He glared at Luo Feng, his eyes wide with anger. "Useless trash!" he bellowed. "Remember, when we from Flame Sand City act, we must uphold the prestige of our City Lord Mansion!"
"Yes, sir!" The surrounding guards responded nervously, clearly intimidated by this Housekeeper He. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
This man was the steward of Flame Sand City’s City Lord Mansion, a late-stage ninth rank Heavenly Court Realm expert. His ruthless methods were infamous, his reputation far-reaching.
Housekeeper He nodded in satisfaction, then turned his sinister gaze upon Luo Feng. "Kid, you dared to injure men from my Flame Sand City’s City Lord Mansion. Do you admit your guilt?"
Luo Feng rubbed his nose and looked calmly at Housekeeper He. "They were the ones who couldn’t distinguish right from wrong. I merely helped you discipline them. What crime is there in that?"
Has this kid gone mad? Daring to speak to Housekeeper He like that?
The surrounding guards tensed, looking at Luo Feng with expressions anticipating a good show.
In their experience, no one who dared speak to Housekeeper He in such a manner had ever met a good end.
Housekeeper He’s face stiffened, then twisted into an angry, chilling laugh. "Kid, you’ve got guts," he sneered. "But sometimes, too much courage isn’t a good thing! Today, you injured two of my men. If I don’t cripple your cultivation, how can I, He Quan, maintain my reputation?"
With that, Housekeeper He stomped heavily on the ground. Yuan Qi surged, and the earth beneath him instantly cracked. His entire being radiated a fierce aura that pressed down on Luo Feng, whipping up a wild wind that sent dust and stones flying across the plaza.
Luo Feng stood his ground, unmoving.
The surrounding guards, seeing this, assumed he was frozen by Housekeeper He’s aura, and mocking smiles appeared on their faces.
"Heh, serves him right for acting so arrogant in front of Housekeeper He. He’ll be crippled, if not killed!" a Flame Sand City guard sneered.
Unlike the others, Housekeeper He felt an inexplicable sense of danger looking at Luo Feng’s calm expression. Anyone who could remain so composed in his presence was either a fool or had a significant backing.
Since he could defeat an eighth-stage Hell Realm expert, he was certainly no fool. It had to be the latter.
His eyes flickered. Housekeeper He’s aura surged to its peak, locking onto the space around Luo Feng as he threw a punch.
"Water-Splitting Mountain-Cleaving!"
BOOM!
A transparent fist projection erupted, hurtling towards Luo Feng. It tore a terrifying fissure several meters wide in the ground, like a monstrous python.
"That’s the Water-Splitting Fist! Housekeeper He is using his ultimate technique right from the start!" a guard exclaimed in surprise, recognizing the Martial Arts.
Another laughed. "Looks like Housekeeper He is determined to kill this kid. This is going to be good."
The others nodded, their eyes fixed on Luo Feng, eager to see him brutally defeated.
The fierce wind whipped Luo Feng’s dark hair back, but his eyes remained steadfast.
A cold smile touched Luo Feng’s lips. He lowered his stance slightly, and just as the fist’s power was about to strike, he too threw a punch.
"Flame Overlord Four Sides!"
BOOM!
The crimson fist projection, like a pillar of fire, instantly pierced through the transparent one.
Housekeeper He’s expression changed drastically. Sensing the terrifying power of the fiery fist projection, he gritted his teeth, grabbed two nearby guards, and thrust them in front of himself as shields.
