Marrying His Nemesis: Kicking My Scumbag Fiancé Away!-Chapter 72: You... Got Married?!
"This is my home. If I’m not here, where else would I be?"
Ethan Sterling pulled out the chair beside him, indicating for her to sit.
"Wait here, I’ll get breakfast."
He stood up and walked into the kitchen, returning quickly with a serving of a traditional Chinese breakfast.
Of course, he brought a cup of Seraphina Thorne’s favorite hot chocolate as well.
Placing breakfast on the table, Ethan handed her the chocolate cup.
His hand reached out, lightly pinching her on the tip of her nose.
"Next time, don’t hog the entire bed yourself, making your husband sleep in the guest room!"
Seraphina cradled the hot chocolate, her lashes lowering.
"When... did you get back?"
"Around ten-ish?" Ethan nudged the breakfast on the table towards her. "Why did you sleep so early yesterday? Are you feeling unwell?"
"No, I was just a bit tired."
Seraphina took a bite of breakfast, subtly glancing at Ethan beside her.
Ten-ish?
When she saw him at the hospital, it was almost eight.
Such a short time, probably only enough for a meal.
Could it be...
That Ethan didn’t do anything with that girl?
Feeling concerned, Ethan reached over, holding her by the back of her head, leaning in to press his forehead to hers.
Feeling that her temperature was similar to his, he straightened up again.
"If you’re too tired, stop the tutoring job. If you’re short on cash, I can give you some."
"I’m okay, I have enough."
Seraphina lifted the cup, sipping the hot chocolate.
With lowered lashes, her tone was casual.
"Yesterday... is your friend alright?"
"Friend?" Ethan was momentarily stunned, realizing she meant Chloe Foster. "Her... just some minor injuries, nothing serious."
Talking about Chloe, Ethan remembered the main topic.
"By the way, I’ve arranged the dinner for tonight. I’ll have Sean Hale send you the location soon, join us then. This friend of mine is a lawyer with a lot of experience handling major cases, very insightful. You can talk to him about your brother’s case, he might be helpful."
Upon hearing about serious matters, Seraphina quickly set aside her own thoughts.
"How about this, I’ll bring my brother’s lawyer along to dinner, let them talk, is that okay?"
"Why wouldn’t it be?" Ethan agreed wholeheartedly. "I’ve known this friend for over ten years, so feel free to ask anything you want when the time comes."
Knowing he meticulously arranged this for her sake, Seraphina felt grateful deep down. "Okay, thank you..."
Ethan raised an eyebrow.
"Hmm?"
Knowing he didn’t like hearing her say thanks, Seraphina switched her words.
"I mean, thank your friend for me."
"Got it, Mrs. Sterling!" Ethan smiled, giving her a teasing glance. "Hurry and eat, or your chocolate will get cold."
Seraphina once again cradled the glass cup, her gaze lingering on the chocolate inside.
A man like Ethan having other women outside is completely normal.
It’s just a one-time catch, why be shocked?
You’re merely one among all his women!
Adrian Chamberlain wasn’t enough, and you still believe in men? 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
Thinking of this, Seraphina chuckled self-deprecatingly.
Bringing the cup to her lips, she took a big gulp, pushing all those emotions out of her mind.
After breakfast, the two went to work separately.
That afternoon, Chloe Foster called to say she had already sent her resume to Commander Quincy.
Finishing her work, Seraphina made a special visit to Commander Quincy’s office to explain the situation.
Nathan Foster helped her a great deal, so of course Seraphina wanted to reciprocate.
Thus, she specifically spoke highly of Chloe.
"Alright." Seeing Seraphina’s enthusiasm, Commander Quincy nodded with a smile. "I’ve reviewed the resume, the orchestra will have official interviews next Monday, just have your friend come for the interviews too."
"Thank you, Commander Quincy."
Seraphina politely expressed her gratitude and promptly called Chloe with the news.
"That’s wonderful, Seraphina, I owe you so much for this." Chloe’s tone was excited. "You’ve helped me greatly... How about this, come over for dinner tonight, I’ll make my best chocolate pie for you."
"I have plans tonight, but how about after your successful interview, I’ll come celebrate with you." Seraphina considered.
As head of the violin section, Seraphina had reviewed other candidates’ information.
She inquired about Chloe’s background.
Chloe was a graduate of a well-known music academy, winning awards as a child, with experience in orchestras and performances.
Compared to other candidates, she was quite outstanding.
In Seraphina’s view, Chloe had a high chance of succeeding in the interview.
"Well... okay." Chloe replied jokingly, "When the time comes, don’t forget to bring your husband along, I’d like to meet him!"
"We’ll see, he’s usually quite busy with work."
Seraphina didn’t promise anything definite.
After all, her relationship with Ethan was far from that of a real couple.
Disconnecting from Chloe, she dialed Nathan Foster’s number.
"Nathan, do you have time tonight?"
"Tonight? Sorry, Seraphina," Nathan hesitated, "I’ve already planned dinner with some friends, I’m already on the way."
"That’s okay, no problem, you go ahead." Seraphina quickly responded, "I just wanted to invite you for a meal, let’s plan for another day. Drive safely."
Ending the call, she checked the time.
Rushed back to the office to collect her things.
Following Sean Hale’s address, she drove to the restaurant Ethan had planned.
When she reached upstairs, Ethan was already standing at the restaurant entrance waiting for her.
Seeing Seraphina, he smiled, stepping forward and taking her coat.
"Didn’t you say you’d bring the lawyer, where is he?"
"Sorry, he has other plans for tonight."
"No worries, we’ll talk about it later."
Ethan took her coat, leading her outside the private room.
Hearing someone enter, Nathan, sitting at the table, turned his face curiously.
Seeing Seraphina walking in with Ethan, he rose with a puzzled expression.
"Seraphina?"
"Nathan?" Seraphina said, equally surprised, "You wouldn’t happen to be the friend Ethan mentioned?"
"That’s right, it’s me." Nathan’s gaze shifted between the two, "You and Ethan, you know each other?"
"We’re much more than just acquaintances!"
Ethan hung Seraphina’s coat on the rack, wrapping his arm around her waist with a smile.
"Let me formally introduce you two. This is Nathan Foster, Attorney Foster, my best friend. This is Seraphina Thorne, my wife!"
Nathan stood still, stunned for a good four or five seconds before snapping back to reality.
"You two... are married?!"
