Marrying His Nemesis: Kicking My Scumbag Fiancé Away!-Chapter 57: So... Do You Like It, Honey?
Thorne Family’s little one?
Nathan Foster?
Familiar nickname, reminiscent name.
Seraphina Thorne stared at Nathan Foster’s face, finally finding some familiar traces on that handsome face.
"Are you... Hot Dog?!"
Seraphina was eight years younger than her brother Caleb Thorne, and was always his little shadow when she was young.
At that time, Nathan Foster, the son of the Foster Family living next door, was always on good terms with Caleb and always doted on the Thorne Family’s little sister.
Back then, Seraphina was too young to remember his name, so she always liked calling him "Hot Dog."
No wonder he said he was her loyal fan.
Seraphina remembers that when she was little and had just started learning the piano, she could barely play a few pieces but loved holding concerts the most.
Her brother Caleb and the neighbor’s "Hot Dog" were her most loyal audience.
Nathan Foster smiled brightly, "I thought you really forgot about me!"
Seraphina shook her head with a smile, "It’s mainly because it’s been such a long time."
When Nathan Foster immigrated to Country M with his father, she was only five or six years old.
Over a decade later, the once beautiful young boy had grown into an adult, how could she still recognize him?
"Yeah, it has indeed been over a decade since I left." Thinking of the past, Nathan Foster was somewhat nostalgic, "I never thought the Thorne Family would turn out this way now."
When he mentioned the old mansion, Seraphina’s smile faded.
Seeing that her mood had faltered a bit, Nathan Foster led her back to the sofa to sit down.
"I have heard bits about the Thorne Family, how is Mr. Thorne doing?"
"He just had surgery a few days ago and is recovering well." Seraphina perked up, "I know you and my brother were good friends before, but... about the case, I don’t want you to force yourself too much."
Over these days, I’ve seen enough of the coldness of the world.
Seraphina certainly wouldn’t naively think that based on the old friendship between Caleb and Nathan, Nathan would definitely help her.
"This case is indeed a bit challenging for me. I’m not afraid to tell you directly, I took this case not only to help Caleb." Nathan Foster shrugged, "You know, I just returned to the country and need a major case to establish my footing here."
The world is inherently utilitarian.
Hearing Nathan say this, Seraphina was instead able to accept it.
If Nathan Foster could help turn the Zenith case around for Caleb, his reputation would immediately reverberate through Jadeston.
"But..." Seraphina was still a bit worried, "Have you never considered the possibility that..."
"What if what, what if I lose?" Nathan Foster raised an eyebrow, "Could it be that even you don’t believe that your brother is innocent?"
"Of course not, my brother is definitely innocent, I just don’t have enough evidence right now." 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
"Finding evidence, conducting investigations, going to court... these are all things I’m good at." Nathan Foster stretched out his right hand again to her, "So... happy cooperation?"
Standing up, Seraphina extended her right hand and grasped his palm.
"Thank you, Attorney Foster."
"Not calling me Hot Dog anymore?"
At the mention of her childhood embarrassment, Seraphina’s face warmed.
"You can’t blame me for that. Who asked you to introduce yourself as Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog back then!"
"Hearing you mention ’Hot Dog’, I’m already hungry." Nathan Foster checked the time on his wrist, "It’s almost noon, shall we... find a place to eat, and then you can tell me about your brother’s situation in detail."
The two found a nearby restaurant. While eating, Seraphina explained what she knew about the situation to Nathan Foster in detail.
Nathan Foster listened carefully, occasionally asking a few key questions and seriously jotting them down on his phone.
Unknowingly, this meal extended into the afternoon.
"Okay, I have a rough understanding of the situation. Later, I will have my assistant draft a contract and send it to you. Once you sign it and authorize me, I can arrange for my team to start gathering evidence."
"Attorney Foster..." Seraphina twirled the glass of water in her hand, "Can I pay your legal fees in installments?"
"Let’s focus on the case first. Once we win, the court will return your brother’s penalty, so you won’t have to worry about the attorney fees." Nathan Foster gazed at her from across the table, "However, I do have a small request."
"Just let me know, as long as it’s something I can do!"
"Hearing you call me Attorney Foster always feels a bit odd." Nathan Foster laughed, "We know each other so well, just call me by my name!"
Seraphina thought for a moment, "How about I call you Nathan, then?"
"As long as it’s not Hot Dog."
Hearing this, Seraphina also laughed.
Nathan Foster raised his right hand to call over the waiter to settle the bill.
Just as he took out his credit card, Seraphina had already proactively scanned to pay using her phone.
Since he was the one helping her, she felt it was her duty to cover this meal.
"Mobile payments in the country are indeed convenient, well, this time I won’t fight with you... but next time, it will be on me for sure!"
"No problem." Seraphina laughed in agreement.
The two walked out of the restaurant together and stopped at the roadside. Nathan Foster offered to give her a ride home.
"I’m still living in the Foster Family’s old house, just on the way."
"My family’s house has been foreclosed by the bank, so I’m not living there now." Seraphina tried to smile, "Maybe another day. I should visit your sister-in-law, too."
"Sister-in-law?" Nathan Foster shook his head with a smile, "I’m afraid you might be disappointed."
Seraphina was a bit surprised, "Sorry, I thought... Nathan, you were already married."
"Probably because... I’m too focused on work and not appealing to girls." Nathan Foster chuckled self-deprecatingly, "However... my sister will be returning home in the next couple of days. She’s about your age; you two could probably get to know each other."
Seraphina agreed with a smile, but there was a bit of doubt in her heart.
How come she didn’t remember that Nathan had a sister?
Assuming she was too young to remember these details, Seraphina didn’t ask further questions.
She bid farewell to Nathan Foster and headed to visit her father in the hospital before returning early to The Paramount Gardens.
She bought ingredients from the supermarket and prepared a hearty dinner with Ms. Sawyer.
She opened a bottle of specially bought red wine, letting it breathe in the decanter.
Seraphina took a careful shower, applied light makeup, and chose a black silk dress from her wardrobe to wear.
Looking at herself in the mirror, she turned and walked out of the bedroom.
In the entryway, Ethan Sterling was just coming in with his computer.
Seraphina quickly approached and took his computer bag from him.
"How’s work, going smoothly?"
"It’s okay, Zenith’s situation is better than I imagined."
Ethan Sterling turned his face to see Seraphina in a black spaghetti-strap dress with her long hair down, and he reached out to hold her arm.
"Why wear so little, aren’t you cold?"
"It’s cool in the evening. I have the air conditioning on, and it’s just right for wearing a dress." Seraphina put his computer bag aside, "Are you hungry, do you want to eat first or shower?"
Pulling her close, Ethan Sterling held her by the waist, gently running his fingers through her hair.
He noticed she was wearing makeup, her lips a tempting cherry pink.
"I remember... when you first came to see me, you wore this lipstick, didn’t you?"
Seraphina hadn’t expected him to remember.
A bit surprised, she smiled as she met his eyes.
"So... does my husband like it?"
Ethan Sterling didn’t speak, only lowered his head to kiss her, answering with his kiss.
