Marrying His Nemesis: Kicking My Scumbag Fiancé Away!-Chapter 103: I’ll Kill You Right Now, Scumbag!
"Seraphina, calm down for a moment." Nathan steadied her shoulders, "We’re going to the prison right away. I’ll ask face-to-face, what’s really happening."
"Okay!" Seraphina nodded, "I... I need to talk to my dad first."
They both returned to the hospital room, and Seraphina instructed the caregiver to take good care of her father.
Of course, she didn’t dare tell Theodore the truth, just said there was an urgent matter with the orchestra.
The three of them left the hospital room together. Nathan hailed a taxi, put Chloe in the car, and took Seraphina along to Galecrest’s First Prison where Caleb was being held.
Because Seraphina was a family member, she couldn’t see Caleb outside of the prison’s scheduled visitation days.
Nathan, being Caleb’s attorney, communicated with the staff and finally got permission to meet with Caleb.
Seraphina waited outside, anxious.
Just ten minutes.
Felt like a lifetime.
Finally, the steel door to the corridor opened, and Nathan came out with his laptop bag.
"Nathan!" Seraphina ran over, "What’s going on?"
"Your brother already knows about you and Ethan Sterling. He said... he told me to tell you, he’s given up. You don’t need to keep pleasing Ethan. He hopes you’ll divorce him and live freely."
"But..." Seraphina grabbed Nathan’s arm, "How does my brother know? You didn’t tell him, did you?"
"Seraphina, I really didn’t tell him about your marriage." Nathan explained earnestly, "You have to believe me."
"It’s not that I don’t believe you, I just..." Seraphina took a deep breath to calm herself, "Isn’t there another way, besides appealing, to help my brother overturn the case?"
Nathan shook his head.
According to the law, once the party involved gives up the appeal, it means admitting guilt, and the already judged case won’t be re-tried.
Seraphina withdrew her hand, her eyes turning red.
"How did it come to this?"
She had worked so hard to help her brother overturn his conviction.
These days, Ethan Sterling and Nathan were also trying to find clues, and just when the case seemed to have a breakthrough, her brother suddenly gave up on the appeal.
How could she accept this?
"Seraphina, don’t be anxious..." Nathan pondered slightly, "I asked the staff earlier, and they said your brother received a letter in the morning."
"A letter? Who sent it?"
"I don’t know. It’s considered the inmate’s privacy; they wouldn’t tell me. Nathan reminded sternly, "Think carefully, besides us, is there anyone else who knows about your situation with Ethan, who might inform your brother?"
Seraphina frowned and thought for a moment, suddenly thinking of someone.
"It’s him, it must be that bastard."
"You mean..."
"Adrian Chamberlain!" Seraphina abruptly stood up, turned around, and rushed to the exit, "I’m going to find him right now!"
"Seraphina!"
By the time Nathan chased out of the prison gates, Seraphina had already gotten into that Cullinan, speeding onto the highway.
He got in his car to follow but was a step too late, and Seraphina soon left him behind.
Watching the tail lights of the Cullinan disappear into traffic, Nathan’s brows furrowed tightly.
Concerned about Seraphina’s safety, Nathan couldn’t afford to waste time and immediately took out his phone to dial Ethan Sterling’s number.
"I know you’re angry with me, but we’re not discussing that now. I’m calling because of Seraphina."
Upon hearing it was about Seraphina, Ethan’s tone immediately became tense.
"What’s happened to her?"
"Caleb knows about your marriage with Seraphina and decided to give up on the appeal. Seraphina’s gone to find Adrian Chamberlain out of anger."
"Why didn’t you stop her? You know what that Adrian Chamberlain is like!" Ethan yelled directly, "Nathan, what gives you the right to interfere in matters between Seraphina and me?"
"Ethan, please don’t misunderstand, I didn’t tell Caleb."
"It better not be you!"
Ethan directly hung up the call.
Nathan raised his hand and pressed his slightly aching temples, found Seraphina’s number, and dialed.
"Seraphina, where are you? Please, don’t act impulsively."
On the other end, Seraphina’s vehicle had already entered Thorne Tower.
"Nathan, don’t worry about me regarding this matter."
She hung up the phone, walked calmly into the elevator, and pressed the floor button for Adrian Chamberlain’s office. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
A moment later, the elevator reached the floor and opened.
Some staff members saw Seraphina storming out of the elevator and quickly stepped aside.
"Miss Thorne."
"Hello, Miss Thorne."
...
Ever since it was known that Seraphina and Ethan had married, and Ethan rejoined Zenith Group, everyone’s attitude towards Seraphina had completely shifted.
Ignoring everyone, Seraphina strode through the corridor directly to Adrian Chamberlain’s office and flung the door open.
The office was empty.
A staff member ran over, smiling obsequiously at Seraphina.
"Miss Thorne, President Chamberlain... isn’t here!"
"Where did he go?"
"Well... I’m not quite sure."
As soon as the staff member finished speaking, Adrian Chamberlain’s voice echoed down the corridor.
"Who’s looking for me?"
As he approached the office door and saw Seraphina standing by his desk, Adrian paused, his eyes lighting up.
"Seraphina, you came, uh... please... please sit!"
Seraphina didn’t sit; she grabbed the ceramic pen holder on his desk and smashed it hard.
Adrian sidestepped, and the pen holder hit the door frame, shattering.
"You..." Adrian retreated two panic-stricken steps, "What are you doing?"
Seraphina ignored him and continued to throw everything she could get her hands on.
"Adrian Chamberlain, I’m telling you..." she said, eyes red as she stepped out of the office and pointed a trembling finger at Adrian’s face, "If my brother’s case can’t be salvaged, I’ll take your life!"
"What... Are you crazy?" Adrian glanced at the surrounding employees, "Your brother’s case, he brought it on himself; what’s it got to do with me?"
"You lie!" Burning with anger and pain, Seraphina shouted profanities, "If it weren’t for you framing him, would he have been imprisoned? If it weren’t for you telling him about my marriage to Ethan, would he have given up on the appeal?"
Upon hearing that Caleb had given up on the appeal, Adrian paused as well.
"Caleb... gave up on the appeal?"
Her brother’s case had no hope left for an appeal, yet he acted as though nothing had happened.
Seraphina was furious.
"You... bastard... I..."
Looking around and noticing a box cutter that had fallen from the pen holder onto the ground.
Seraphina grabbed the knife, charged forward, and pressed Adrian against the wall, her eyes bloodshot as she pointed the knife at his throat.
"I’m going to kill you, you scumbag, right now!"
"Seraphina, don’t... don’t be impulsive!" Feeling the knife against his neck, Adrian’s face turned as pale as a sheet, "This matter... really... really has nothing to do with me. I... truly didn’t know..."
The nearby staff were all scared out of their wits.
"Miss Thorne, please don’t act impulsively!"
"Yes, Miss Thorne, let’s talk... Talk this over calmly!"
