Married to the Protagonist-Chapter 113: Tango (2)
They probably slept too much during the afternoon, but the two of them didn’t feel tired at all even after having a late barbeque snack late in the night. Together, they overlooked the bright lights from the brimming city outside of the window.
Apart from those, everything was quiet around them.
It felt as if a sudden peace had emerged all of a sudden.
Chen Jinyao browsed through the schedule in her class group a few times, they were all normal stuff. She locked her screen and tossed it aside.
She suddenly felt like chatting.
To be more precise, it was Yan Chang who started the conversation. Things felt awkward at first, but after a moment of extreme pleasure, it felt as if they could talk about anything.
Yan Cheng held her tightly and made a sincere hypothesis. “Did you maybe remember things wrong? Maybe your class assistant never had a crush on you.”
Leaning against him, Chen Jinyao felt comfortable.
She didn’t answer his hypothesis either and only frowned. Meanwhile, she also made a new entry point from what he brought up.
“Time can change anything.” She looked down, playing with his long and fair fingers, squeezing them all over. Then, she suddenly turned around and shortened their distance, facing him seriously. “You know what I mean, right?”
Yan Cheng raised a brow but did not say anything.
She went on with the topic, “Emotionally, we never had any mutual emotional output during university. Maybe he did, but not me. After I found out what he thought about me, I even tried to avoid him. In this sort of situation, it means he wouldn’t be able to get an answer from me. So, of course he’s going to have to put things down after so many years. I also believe that time works its miracles. I’m guessing he agreed to join our class reunion because he wanted to find and liberate his past self.”
Yan Cheng was stunned. His first reaction was to admire Chen Jinyao’s eloquence.
At the same time, he couldn’t help but think. If she continues on talking about big topics like this, it might have a hypnotic effect. Then, the two of them might be able to get some sleep.
Unexpectedly, Chen Jinyao’s eyes would suddenly light up and point the barrel at him instead, asking, “Also, different situation but still, thanks to time, many things end up the same.”
“What do you mean?” Yan Cheng frowned.
The silvery moonlight draped over them, softening their expressions.
This scene seemed too perfect for a long conversation.
Chen Jinyao smiled and no longer beat around the bush. She suddenly sat on top of his body and curled her arms around his neck, pulling them close. Just like that, she stared straight into his dark eyes. “What I mean is, we may be stuck like glue right now, but give it seven years or so, maybe our feelings might also fade away.”
“Do you ever feel that maybe even the deepest feelings can’t withstand the wear and tear of time?”
“Come on, don’t glare at me like that. We’re chatting, aren’t we? What, I can’t make a hypothesis?” Chen Jinyao could sense that the atmosphere wasn’t right so she quickly tried to patch things up. What’s more, that hypothesis makes up a large part of life.”
“You can’t just generalize things either, “Yan Cheng said with a straight face. There was a serious tone in his voice. “Things like these vary from person to person.”
Chen Jinyao pondered for a moment. She agreed with him as well.
Yan Cheng narrowed his eyes. “You also told me that marriage depends on management, so what’s with all this demoralizing talk now?”
Chen Jinyao, “I’m not trying to demoralize things! It’s just a hypothesis!”
“Oh.” A perfunctory-sounding answer.
