Married To The Mad Vampire Lord-Chapter 228: The Demon_Part 2
Chapter 228: The Demon_Part 2
Rohan flipped through the pages until he reached the one that talked about a demon and a human making a child, and stopped there, beginning to read through it carefully while keeping a side eye on the witch.
It wasn’t impossible for a human to carry a demon—he knew that—but what he searched for was the explanation for why she had dark veins and eyes at times, and if it was a normal occurrence during pregnancy.
"A demon baby can affect its mother in a way she will start to act like one, but apart from that, there are no other negative impacts to be concerned about..."
Rohan read ahead to see if there was any part that talked about the human having veins and darkened spots appear on their skin before disappearing, but there was no such part, and he paused to caress his temple to soothe the little ache that was rising.
At first, he had thought those dark veins were nothing to worry about and were because of the baby, but later on, he noticed that along with the dark veins, there were times a part of her skin turned completely black and dry, like the skin of a roasted animal, and then it turned back to normal as quickly as if it had never appeared. And unlike the dark eyes of demons, hers had a white slit in the middle like that of a cat.
Reading through the book and seeing that it wasn’t part of the pregnancy symptoms, he opted for his other plan, which was the potion he had requested from the witch. He turned his eyes to the tiny bottle with white milky liquid inside it. He picked it up and brought it to eye level.
"How does it work?" he directed the question to the silent, obedient witch.
"It works just as you said. You wanted something that, when taken, will reveal one’s true form and hidden identity—that’s the potion for it. Even ghosts and spirits who hide among the living can be revealed with that."
"Hmm," Rohan hummed as he turned his eyes to the witch, sensing that she wasn’t telling the truth about something. "Then I guess I can test it on you first. I cannot trust your words that this works and won’t harm my little bunny. You are a witch in disguise. Here you go, have a sip." He threw the bottle to her, and she caught it with swift reflex. ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom
The witch’s hands tightened around the small bottle, which was in fact a fake of what he had asked her to make. The liquid inside it wasn’t what he wanted, but a potion that would kill whoever took it—even a single sip. She had not expected him to suspect her this quickly, and to distract his attention from making her take a sip of her own poison, she scoffed mockingly,
"You are just like every one of your kind. Distrustful, even when someone gives their life to you. I thought you would have a trusting bone in you since you’re only half your kind. Turns out all of you are the same."
"Do you know another of my kind?" Rohan asked, interest in his voice as he studied the witch. From what he knew, demons of darkness were rare and nearly impossible to come across after the one who had sired him long ago. It was even said that they had all perished in hellfire by some curse that had befallen them—which was why he was curious where this witch had come across one apart from him.
"Demon of darkness? Of course. I knew one many years ago, and I could swear you have so much in common with that creepy smile and eyes. The bastard is now the King of the Underworld and is ruling and forbidding any demon of darkness from associating with us witches, when we have been nothing but loyal to them in the past."
A look of cunningness flashed across the woman’s face as she continued to say, "How about we strike a deal? I will help you get to the demon world and you can defeat this king, take full control, and let the other demons free so we can continue the way we used to. They were helpful to us witches back then. If you do this, every witch will bow to you, and I will do everything in my power to make sure this woman of yours—who, from what I know, you are trying to know her true identity—I will help you see and find out what she is and why she is the way she is."
She looked up at the man before her, who was still seated where he was with his head crooked to the side, as if he was contemplating her words and deciding whether to accept her offer.
The King of the Demons was the strongest of all, as he had lived for millennium and had walked through hell and survived. Many witches had tried to conquer him so their lives would be easier if he released those demons he had locked up in their world, but they were not close to his power.
Witches got their dark magic from making pacts with these demons, and without them, dark witches were at great risk of becoming powerless with time. Seeing how strong this man was—though not as strong to defeat a king—she could send him either to his death or have him help her and her sisters.
His kind were known to be greedy for power. No doubt this evil man had that greed and the taste for control and rulership, they all had that. Selfish, despicable beings. It would serve this one right to get killed by the king, she thought to herself as she fought the urge not to smirk evilly.
Rohan suddenly let out a laugh, a laughter filled with dark humor, and the laughter died down as quickly as it had started.
In a flash, he held the witch around the neck and raised her off her feet.
"Tsk, tsk, tsk, one thing I like about your kind is the fact that you think everyone is as senseless as you are. Defeat a demon king for you? Damn you, woman. What did you say just now? You will help me figure out the identity of my wife if I help you, but so fucking bad—you will be doing that without me striking a deal with you. The only deal we have here is your life on the line. Don’t think I don’t know that potion you gave was poison. Fail to get the right potion when I come here next time, and I will roast you in fire. Understand?"
Seeing her life flash before her eyes, she nodded quickly and rasped, "Y-yes, my Lord."
Before Rohan could release her, he compelled her into forgetting his identity and how he looked like, but let her have the memory of his threat and his warning for her. If only he had the powers to sense white witches, he wouldn’t have wasted his time with the likes of the dark ones, as they always liked to outsmart people for their gain.
He would never concern himself with the demon world, Rohan thought as he left the witch’s house—unknown to him that every one of his movements was being monitored in a world far beyond where he was.
The man watched Rohan through a round ball that was playing before his eyes on the desk of his dark chamber in a different realm.
Long, dark blue hair fell smoothly down his broad shoulders, and from behind, one would believe it was Rohan standing, with longer hair. His dark eyes squinted together as a small smile played against his pinkish lips while he watched the boy he had kept an eye on ever since he was little.
"The boy is so much like your Greatness! He doesn’t trust those cunning witches! Snakes, serpents, hideous creatures. I want to squeeze the life out of every witch in existence! Traitor!" came a tiny voice from a short-looking creature with long flapping ears like that of a rabbit, his back hunched and his head small with tiny features that looked similar to those of a wrinkled child. The creature hopped on the desk with his twig-like legs where the ball that showed the human world was, and then peeked at his master.
"When is Your Greatness going to invite him into this world? You have been watching him for many years now, but I do believe it is about time you let him come here. You—"
Before the creature could say more, he was swiped off the table by the strong hand of his master, and he stumbled and fell hard against the wall. But he quickly got up to his feet and walked back to his master, panting and continued to speak like he hadn’t been interrupted.
"I know Your Greatness does not like it when I, your servant, tell you that the boy should be brought back home, but I have to say it—"
A long leg shot out and kicked away the short creature. He stumbled like a ball and got back up again, holding tiny hands that didn’t quite reach the top of his head against the sides of his head, as if to make sure he wasn’t dismembered by such a mighty, merciless kick he received from his master.
"I don’t want to hear your words of advice, Droot. I will bring him back when I think it’s time. They will soon be two—my bloodline. When the time comes, I will have them both back here," came the deep, husky voice of the demon king, his handsome face glimmering with authority and pride.
He was the last of his kind, and very soon he would have many of his kind back here, before the others who had put him in this state realized he had no power without his people. His world now held nothing but the tiny creatures known as Droot—who were once workers to the dark demons before they had all perished many years ago.
There was a reason why he had made a son, and very soon that son would serve his purpose to help rebuild their people.
"Your Greatness has a plan to bring the baby and the father then?" the Droot asked, eyes widened. "Oh... what about the woman he is so in love with?"
The demon king chuckled as he turned away from the ball he was watching to look at the view of his large world that looked nothing like it once had. Slowly, his laugh fell away, and his eyes darkened in despair at the sight of his world from the top of his tower, where he could see every ruined land. It was silent, abandoned, with empty black cities that had been burned by the flames of Hellfire Rain many years ago to wipe out his kind.
"She’s not a living person anyway. She’s not worth my worry. Once her destiny meets up with her, her little world will be over, and that boy will be free to live away from her. I will have him, with the little one, by then. We will rebuild our world to what it once was and have our revenge against the other faction for their betrayal."
