Married To The Last Ice Dragon-Chapter 221: Break the seal
Sage trembled slightly as she held her breath in his tight embrace. She swallowed hard, picturing herself falling into the water and drowning. Just thinking about it made her shiver, and Cyrus gripped her even tighter.
"What makes you so afraid?" His voice was a deep, worried whisper.
"I.. I am fine." Sage exhaled deeply and buried her face in his chest. "You are right here with me."
"Fortunately, I was close." He whispered and kissed her head before slowly caressing her hair.
Anghel’s enraged scream echoed behind him, as did Snow’s ferocious growl.
"Get off my back, you vermin!"
After a devilishly lethal growl, Sage gasped and pulled away from Cyrus, only for him to pull her back into an even tighter embrace.
"Don’t look, Cyrus."
"Don’t murder him."
"I won’t; only a few fingers will be lost." Cyrus said those words with such calm that Sage got chills.
"Cyrus.."
"He touched and threatened my wife." He hissed loudly. "The audacity irritates me."
Anghel’s scream thundered loudly, and Snow growled deeply with ease, widening Sage’s eyes in surprise. That was the first time she had heard the nine-tailed fox make that sound. She was aware he was dangerous, but she had not anticipated him sounding so terrifying.
"Snow.."
"He will do the job, not me; I don’t want my hands stained with the blood of a fifth god." Cyrus grimaced and let go of her hug, cupping her face and directing her gaze away from Snowflake and Anghel. His gaze was calm and possessive, and his smile was serene and relieved.
"He is your family, Cyrus," Sage sighed deeply.
"Do I look like i care, my love?" Cyrus asked, his face grave, but his touch on her face soft, like someone holding an egg and preventing it from breaking in the middle at all costs. "I wanted to care, but he only wanted to hurt you. The desire to kill him is insatiable, but you keep telling me not to kill him in that stubborn mind of yours."
"You are aware of everything... Everything he told me." Sage muttered and clutched his coat.
Cyrus’ lips twitched. "Do you honestly believe I’m holding you back?" He asked and pressed his face against hers, brushing his nose against hers.
Sage gulped. "Yes." She exhaled and felt Cyrus’ touch become cold, his thumbs caressing her cheek, revealing glow fire veins to the eyes. "You’re scared." Sage whispered, connecting herself to his suppressed emotions, but he stopped knowing it was bad. They had a soul connection. He couldn’t hide completely any longer.
"I don’t want to hold you back; I just don’t want you to fade from my sight... from my life. I have no idea what will happen if you leave."
"Cyrus.." She called out softly and kissed his lips softly. "I’m not going anywhere." Her eyes twinkled as she whispered. She cupped his face and looked into his eyes.
"Ahhh!" Sage closed her eyes and sighed heavily as Anghel screamed.
"He is your family, Cyrus." She drewled and opened her eyes to see him smiling brightly.
Sage’s eyes widened as he said, "I know."
"Then why?"
"He threatened you, and he must pay the price. Snow, by the way, despises him completely." Cyrus whispered and slowly caressed her lower lip, his gaze fixed firmly on her lips, leaving Sage speechless.
Not in this situation!
"Just a little, you can stop me if you want. I’m starving for you." Cyrus whispered, his eyes bewitchingly fixed on her.
She immediately parted her lips in protest. "N.." But he smashed his lips against hers, thrusting his tongue into her mouth and kissing her hungrily.
Sage was afraid that she would not want him to stop, but he didn’t even allow her to speak, despite the fact that he knew exactly what was going through her mind. She, too, was starving for him.
"Ahhhh! Stop, stop, stop it you insane creature!" Anghel screamed even louder this time, and Sage drew away from Cyrus.
"Cyrus.." She looked at him with pleading eyes, but all he did was sigh frustratedly.
"Snow." Cyrus called out and kissed Sage on the cheek before releasing her and turning to face Anghel and Snowflake.
Sage flushed and followed Cyrus’ gaze to Anghel on the ground, his clothes tattered and splattered with his own blood from the injuries Snow had caused on his body.
Sage stood there blinking, stunned, to see two of his fingers missing from his bleeding hand. They appeared to be eaten away.
She moved her gaze to the seated black nine-tailed fox, whose mouth was bloody and whose tails were elegantly moving with pride.
"You’re a good boy." Cyrus laughed and walked over to Anghel, who was panting heavily. "If you touch her again, I will rip your head out of your body." He made a firm threat in a no-nonsense tone, then approached Snow and scooped him up in his arms.
"He brought me here, just like everyone else, to take my fire core..." Sage felt stupid. She should have anticipated this.
"We should go back. I have a meeting with the chief warriors tonight that you are welcome to attend." Cyrus advised her to divert her attention away from his uncle, who was aiming to murder her.
"He might be able to help you get rid of other deities who want you dead." Sage said suddenly, and they both looked at each other. Cyrus appeared stunned.
"Are you serious?" He asked, scoffing in surprise.
Sage realized that Cyrus wasn’t fighting dragons, demons, or vampires, but gods who wanted him dead.
She wanted to learn more, she wanted to protect him, and by staring at him, she let him know what she wanted.
Cyrus’ face darkened unexpectedly. "No."
"Break the seal, Cyrus." Sage seethed.
"Breaking the seal means I’ll have to trust him. I don’t want to get involved with any of the ice gods." Cyrus stood firm in his words. "I already have a full plate."
Sage couldn’t believe he was being so obstinate right now. She clenched her teeth and sighed heavily.
"You know how much we need him."
"For what purpose?" Cyrus arched his brow, his gaze fixed on him. "Do you think I should thank him for protecting Videnia all this time? No one can break through the barrier except me, so why should I be grateful? Is it because he is my mother’s younger brother? He claimed that if he had his way of doing things, he would have saved me from the clutches of all those who wanted to kill me." 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
Sage could feel his rage rising with each word he uttered. She knew why he didn’t want to care about Anghel, but she also knew that they needed that god.
She looked at Cyrus with pleading eyes, but he averted his gaze and sighed deeply. "Sage, don’t get involved." His words were delivered with a deep growl.
"Cyrus, consider his options carefully."
"There is nothing to think about because all I want to do is kill him." Cyrus growled and placed his finger on her brow without looking her in the eyes.
"Don’t even think about it!" Sage snapped and grabbed his wrist with both hands.
Cyrus bit his lower lip as the heat of her hands and the seriousness of her voice actually made him feel intimidated by his parrot. His gaze bore into hers, seeing them in their fiery red form, swirling like a fierce liquid fire.
"You need to rest." He muttered.
"I don’t want to." She hissed and yanked his hand away from her brow, then released his wrist and took the nine-tailed fox from him. "And I’m not leaving either."
Her words made his eyes widen. He could just grab her and drag her back into the mansion, but he wanted to see how stubborn she could be, and he was well aware that she knew exactly what he was thinking.
"Break the seal." Her voice came out hard.
Cyrus clenched his fist and moved his enraged gaze to Anghel, who was still groaning in pain from the injuries and loss of fingers.
Cyrus’ eyes blazed with amusement at the sight of the god looking vulnerable, and he only wanted to inflict more pain on him. He had touched his wife. The fool was clutching his wife’s neck.
He took a step towards Anghel, his hands itching to break his neck.
Noticing murder intent emanating from the ice dragon heading towards him, Anghel’s eyes went wide while Sage who was reading and feeling Cyrus’ emotions, turned to look at him.
"Cyrus, no!" Sage yelled as Cyrus suddenly materialized behind Anghel.
He looked at her, his gaze softer than expected, and let out a frustrated yell before jamming his hands together, bursting a full force of sapphire glow.
She began to experience a sharp, raw pain in her heart, whimpered in agony, and dropped to her knees. She then gently set Snowflake, who was now also glowing, on his feet.
Cyrus yelled in pain as he was engulfed in a bright glow and experienced severe heart pain. Sage felt this and cried out inconsolably as she collapsed to the ground.
The glow faded, and Cyrus returned to his normal state, panting hard while Snowflake returned to being as white as snow.
"Never put your filthy hands on my wife." Cyrus hissed darkly and slammed his hand firmly against Anghel’s head.
Anghel’s body erupted in a brilliant glow that swept like a wind through the forest. Anghel’s breath grew thin as a glowing key lock appeared on his forehead before destroying itself.
