Married To The Last Ice Dragon-Chapter 202: By your side
She blinked at him trying to process his words, but they were too... Shocking.
He wasn’t half a mage, but half a god. Did that actually explain his mysterious abilities?
"I.."
"Do not overthink this; not everyone is aware of this."
"But.."
"My father fell in love with the ice goddess." Cyrus stated flatly.
"But, the ice goddess is the ice dragons’ deity!" Sage gasped and blinked quickly.
Cyrus moved his head slowly. "Yes."
Sage pouted as she noticed he seemed hesitant to tell her more, and her heart clenched as she felt she was asking too many questions.
According to her knowledge, the dragon’s home was Draconem, the continent of dragons, was divided into five sections.
Antica, the ice dragons’ kingdom, was located in the northern region, Fireria, the fire dragons’ kingdom, was located in the western region, Shindra, the shadow dragons’ kingdom, was located in the eastern region, Astraria, the lightning dragons’ kingdom, was located in the southern region, and the middle regions were divided into two, Aquaina, the water dragons’ kingdom, and Terria, the earth dragons’ kingdom.
She had some knowledge of the lightning dragons, earth dragons, and water dragons, despite not being familiar with them.
They all had their deities, and they all existed, but she had never imagined that the ice dragons’ deity, the ice goddess, was her mother-in-law.
There was a lot that was going to happen and a lot that was already happening, but she was compelled by her curiosity to want to know everything at once.
When she noticed Cyrus looking uncomfortable and suddenly lost in his thoughts, she felt extremely guilty and cupped his face, staring at him with an apologetic expression, which brought him out of his thoughts.
His eyes widened slightly as they locked with hers. "I am sorry, I am not asking these questions because I don’t trust you; I am just curious."
"Shh." Cyrus smirked and put his finger to her lips to silence her. "Although I won’t label it a mistake, you need to practice patience. You might never fully recover if I tell you about some things right now."
These words caused Sage’s eyes to widen.
"No more secrets does not imply that I will reveal everything. I don’t want to hurt you; I just want to keep you safe." He spoke calmly and began to caress her lower lip while maintaining eye contact.
Sage took a deep breath and nodded slowly.
Cyrus grinned. "The parrot was killed by curiosity." He teased her, and she blushed as a dimpled smile spread across his lips.
"I.."
"Shh." Cyrus hissed and leaned in, planting a heart-fluttering kiss before pulling away. "You need to sleep." He muttered.
"But I am not sleepy." Sage pressed her lips together.
"Will you fall asleep if I hold you in my arms?" Cyrus inquired, chuckling softly
"I will," Sage giggled and smiled as she caressed his cheeks.
...
Meanwhile, back in Katherine and River’s room, Katherine stood at the wide open wall that River had crashed through. Her eyes widened as she watched the dragon fly above the mansion, as if he was perplexed and attempting to calm himself.
It had been a long time since she had stood there hoping he would land and at least talk to her.
Remembering their experiences in the bakery. Even though she wanted to go to the mountain, she couldn’t deny that she was enjoying his company and it all felt very familiar.
He was disappointed that she couldn’t reclaim her memories. Cyrus’ statement that he couldn’t break the Sage’s spell meant that only Sage could restore her memories, but how was that possible when wiping her memories was a huge mistake in the first place?
Katherine was pondering how and why she had fallen in love with River in the first place. Yes, he was incredibly attractive and captivating, but... there were still buts.
Katherine sighed and outstretched her arms, and water burst out of her hands, wrapping itself around her in a magical way. When the water began to glow, she was lifted from the ground and out of the room, all the way to the sky.
When River saw her, his eyes widened and he came to a halt in front of her, his massive wings flapping powerfully.
Katherine smiled dimly as she noticed the pain in his eyes. "I want you to relax." She told him in the hope that he would pay attention.
River averted his gaze, flew to the ground, landed, and reverted to his human form. When Katherine saw this, she smiled and controlled the water around her, causing her to move to the ground and land in front of him. The water around her evaporated, and she took a deep breath, locking her gaze with River’s, a soft longing gaze that made her heart melt.
"What do you think I should do?" River asked through his teeth, turning away from her and digging his hands into his hair.
"You shouldn’t be acting like this. Ophelia will be concerned if she knows." Katherine’s voice softened as she mentioned Ophelia’s name.
River chuckled deeply and returned his gaze to her, his eyes transformed into golden reptiles. "What do you think I should do?" He asked again, this time more forcefully. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦
"I think you should be patient." Katherine lowered her head and whispered. "I will try my best to be by your side."
River’s eyes widened as she spoke, and they gradually returned to their hazel gray form. "Are you certain?" He had to ask.
Katherine smiled brightly as she lifted her head. She wasn’t sure if she could, but she had to give it a shot. To be honest, she had no idea what she was saying or why she was saying it.
"I am certain." She nodded and moved closer to him, bridging the gap between them. "It pains me to see you like this. It simply means that you love me with all of your heart."
Tears welled up in his hazel gray eyes, and he nodded in response to her words. "I do. I love you more than you can comprehend." He said those words with such strong emotions that her eyes widened in surprise and her heart fluttered.
"Alright," she exhaled, shaking her head. "I am sleepy." He smiled brightly as she laughed.
"I suppose I am as well."
