Married To The Last Ice Dragon-Chapter 193: Together
She pressed her lips together, swallowing hard, and then, as she turned away, he materialized in front of her, took a step towards her, and she unconsciously moved back.
"Where?"
"I am going to see Katherine."
"What will you do if you see her?" Cyrus asked. "And why are you in such a hurry? It’s not that she is dead?"
"Why are you opposed to me seeing her?"
"I am not against you seeing her arrogant parrot, but now isn’t the time."
Sage squinted at him. "Why didn’t you tell me?"
"Is it really that important? She was being controlled, and so were you," Cyrus spoke bluntly.
Sage took a deep breath. "I still want to see her." She insisted, because what was the big deal about her simply going to see her friend?! She wasn’t even a stranger to him!
"Why?" Cyrus asked with a deep hiss, and at that moment, her back met the wall. When she turned to run, he slammed the wall beside her head, causing her to gasp and slowly turn to look at him with a ’Really?’ expression on her face. In disapproving disbelief. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
"Did she come to see you?"
"Cyrus," she drewled in frustration.
"Answer me." He taunted.
"Why are you doing this?" Sage groaned.
"Have I ever told you how cute you look when you frown?" He asked abruptly, leaning in close to her.
Sage couldn’t believe him! "Yes, something like that!"
"I am doing this because you make a cute frown when I tease you." With a sly smile, he whispered.
"Cyrus," Sage seethed.
"Don’t you agree, my love?"
"What are you keeping from me? Why can’t I read your thoughts?!" He was slowly driving her insane!
"Don’t scream my love, it will hurt your throat." Cyrus leaned in even closer, whispering. He had his gaze fixed on her lips.
"Cyrus!"
"You screaming my name like this makes me want to take you to bed and make you scream even louder,"
Sage’s eyes nearly burst from their sockets. Since when did Cyrus... No, he has always been shameless; he just hides it sometimes, but she was taken aback that it was his dark state speaking in this manner.
Sage blinked quickly to control her widened eyes, then inhaled deeply to control herself as his eyes sparkled with mirth and a mischievous smile appeared on his lips.
"Is it because of Prince River?"
"Who?"
Sage raised a brow. He was enjoying making fun of her.
As he continued to ogle her lovely face, Cyrus merely desired to make her smile, frown, shock, cry...? No. He didn’t want to make her cry or cause her any sort of harm.
"Cyrus!" Cyrus’ smile vanished as he heard Sage screamed, and his eyes slightly widened seeing the intense frown on her face. Sage’s voice resounded like thunder as it repeatedly echoed in the hallway.
Sage was pleased that he thought she appeared frightening for a spilt second. She started laughing at the thought that by simply calling him out like that, she had actually intimidated him.
Clearing his throat, he distanced himself from her moving his hand away from the wall. Sage seized her opportunity to laugh as his expression that changed to neutral without a smile. She sighed, relieved that she and Cyrus hadn’t woken up the sleeping nine-tailed fox in her arms.
"Is he still sick?" She asked slowly, worried about the fox.
"Yes."
"What is the cause of his sudden illness? Isn’t he a guardian creature? I thought guardian beasts couldn’t get sick." Sage couldn’t believe it. A small part of her felt pity for the nine-tailed fox, hoping that he would recover soon, while the bigger part of her wished that he would not recover anytime soon so that Cyrus’ normal state would continue to exist.
’Am I being selfish?’ Sage asked her thoughts.
"You are not selfish." Cyrus whispered to her, sharing the emotional moment with her and she suddenly moved her gaze to him, tears clouded her vision.
"Would you please allow me to see Katherine?" She begged, her tears threatening to spill, and Cyrus stared at her in disbelief.
She was making use of the waterworks! He despised seeing her tears, whether they were fake or genuine.
"Ugh!" Cyrus rubbed his hands through his hair and turned away from her. "I would like to spend some time with you. Don’t you realize we are going to be apart for a while?" Cyrus asked his voice harshly, frustrated.
"What?!"
Cyrus returned her gaze. "You have your mages to look after, and..."
"What exactly is going on, Cyrus? I know the Statkus mages aren’t your problems..." Sage trailed off and took a deep breath. "Is it that bastard Esteban?"
Cyrus smirked as she pronounced Esteban’s name with venomous hatred.
"If you must know, the demise of my kind wasn’t done by the fire dragons." Cyrus began with a deep sigh.
"Was it by the shadow dragons?" Sage asked nervously, looking directly into those cold eyes.
"Partially. They had a hand in it." He replied indifferently, his gaze not leaving hers.
Sage saw it and felt it... the way he strongly concealed his emotions. It did nothing but break her heart.
"What do they want?" Sage asked slowly.
"Sage. You shouldn’t be concer..."
"Cyrus, you are my husband. Do you expect me to sit and watch while you are in danger?" Sage abruptly cut him off, staring at him in disbelief.
"But you, too, are in danger, and you have proble..."
"Why are we dealing with our problems separately when we can deal with them together?" Sage cut him off again, this time with full seriousness. "Don’t you think we can help each other? Imagine it, Cyrus, we can be an unstoppable force, and we can help each other so that we can live in peace... together... forever." Sage told him confidently and walked towards him, closing the distance between them.
"Sage..." Cyrus was still planning on protesting.
"Fire and Ice can work together, Cyrus!" Sighing exasperatedly, she blurted out. "Please, we can protect each other, isn’t that how this works?"
"What works?" Cyrus raised an eyebrow.
"Marriage." Sage sighed deeply. "Protect, support, love, and care; that is how marriage works."
