Married To The Last Ice Dragon-Chapter 132: Bait?
"Have you unlocked her water spirit? How is that possible given that her water spirit was never activated?" River was taken aback by Cyrus’ sudden revelation and asked.
"River, what happened?" Cyrus asked, his eyes narrowed at the fire dragon.
"She ran away from Fireria after overhearing my uncle discussing attacking Credia and ended up running into the statkus mages." River responded.
"Did she go into detail about what happened?" Cyrus asked, his lower lip constantly biting.
"When I arrived, she was unconscious in the woods outside the border between Fireria and Antica, possessing the wrath of the fire mage scroll. She told me she saw living corpses and that they told her they were Statkus mages, strong mages. I am aware of them, but it appears that none of the mages of this era are aware of the history of the elder mages who have all passed away." River sighed as he finished his sentence. "Hypnotized?" In disbelief, he inquired.
"She is still under control and is completely unaware of it." Cyrus returned his gaze to the unconscious water mage, whispering. "I can not access her memory because she barely remembers anything."
"How is this even possible? She has been acting perfectly normal!" River groaned in frustration and panicked.
"The spell is so complex and powerful that she will act perfectly normal despite the fact that she is on a task." Cyrus shook his head and put his hands in his pockets.
"What do you intend to do?" River inquired, her gaze fixed on Katherine.
"Kill her before she causes harm to my wife." Cyrus replied nonchalantly and took a step towards Katherine, but River appeared in front of him, his eyes taking on the appearance of a gold reptile.
"Do not risk it." Cyrus smirked as River growled.
"She will accompany us to the battle." Cyrus said, turning away.
"How come?" River inquired, perplexed.
"She is bait." Cyrus then walked out of the room.
River’s eyes widened in surprise as he turned to Katherine, carried her, and placed her comfortably on the bed.
He didn’t notice anything odd about Katherine until Cyrus revealed everything, and it was all too much for him to take in.
He regretted not being suspicious of her presence with a scroll called the wrath of the fire mage.
"Running away from your master will result in death." River smiled after staring at Katherine, who was unconscious. "But, you are now a pawn in the hands of those repulsive creatures."
River held her hand, his thumb caressing her knuckles. "You will be fine; I will make sure nothing bad happens to you. I can not stand up to that haughty ice dragon, especially in his dark state."
River was certain that Draco would not hesitate to kill Katherine. Cyrus in his normal state was good at listening to some extent and controlling his anger. Cyrus’ dark state was pure evil, and to River, Draco was no different than the statkus mages who desired the fire mage’s fire core for selfish reasons.
River let out a sigh. "I am so preoccupied with Antica that I can not even think about how Ophelia is doing in Celestia." With a faint smile on his lips, he muttered.
...
Cyrus walked through the hallway towards the castle’s abandoned wing, his gaze fixed on the ice ball in his palm.
His palm glowed, and the ice ball on his palm caught the light and glinted before floating above his palm.
"Interesting," Cyrus chuckled darkly and hummed as his gaze shifted to his wife’s paintings on the wall.
He put his hands in his pockets and walked deep into the hall, the glowing ice ball trailing behind him until all that was left was darkness and the glowing ice ball as the only light.
The dark part of the hallway was the coldest part of the castle, and when he found a door, he opened it, entering complete darkness, and the door closed shut on its own, making a loud thud.
...
Arthur looked thoughtfully at his sword and smiled as he saw himself in the mirror.
"Too sharp?" With a deep chuckle, he inquired.
Metals scraping against each other and banging against metals were heard, prompting Arthur to clean his with a cloth until it was spotless.
He was in the castle weaponry, where all of the weapons were created by hefy men. The metals were rare, magical, and effective, making them ideal for crafting weapons for warriors.
Arthur sat near a pool of liquid fire, concentrating on cleaning the steel of his sword.
He had a big smile on his face when his head unexpectedly popped out of the pool of boiling liquid fire.
"What is it about that sword that makes you smile like a lunatic?" It was Ashton, and he appeared to be unharmed.
To him, relaxing in a pool of liquid fire was similar to relaxing in a pool of water, which Arthur found strange.
"I am always up for a good fight." Arthur mumbled something.
Ashton gave a nod.
"How did you come across them?" He inquired.
"On the border of Antica and Fireria." Ashton replied, his gaze fixed on his sword.
"Is there anything peculiar about the water mage? I am aware you have met her before."
"Yes, I found nothing strange on the day of the marriage, apart from her sudden relationship with the prince of Fireria." Arthur responded quickly, and Ashton nodded.
"Sudden indeed." Ashton murmured, nodding.
"May I inquire as to what the matter is?" Arthur had to inquire.
"There is a one hundred percent chance that Cyrus will kill the water mages in his dark state." Ashton responded, stepping unharmed from the pool of liquid fire. There was not even a small hole in his clothes, and he shook his head, lost in thought, making Arthur realize that the battle would not be easy.
He had survived the statkus mages once before and wished to do it again and eliminate them all at once.
"I..."
"Send Lord Stefan to my room," Ashton abruptly interrupted and walked away.
Arthur nodded and bowed slightly. "Alright,"
He asked himself as he cleared his throat, looking at the boiling liquid fire. "Is there something between the demon and the lord?"
