Chapter 123: The wrath of the fire mage 1

Sage was taken aback as the tails gradually turned black, until all nine of them were completely black.

She wished she could leave the room and meet Cyrus, but what difference would it make? She couldn’t change his dark state.

"You do not scare me!" she exclaimed after taking a deep breath. Then she carried the nine tailed fox to the bed and gently placed the nail tailed fox on it.

Sighing, she sat beside him.

"Are you the one who triggering his dark state?" Sage asked slowly and sniffed as she took one of the scrolls, lightly clutching it.

"To be honest with you, I am..." She paused with a small laugh and sniffed again, despite the absence of tears in her eyes. "I am terrified of Cyrus’s dark state. My heart breaks when he looks at me so coldly and emotionlessly. I really wish I could undo that state of his, but I know it is impossible."

While he stared at her blankly, she placed the scroll on her lap and caressed the soft fur of Snowflake.

"Would you like him to kill me?" She smiled and whispered. "I am well aware that you despise me; I can see it in your eyes; I am not blind, but you are so adorable." She laughed.

"You will gain nothing by killing me, believe me. Cyrus should kill me rather than anyone else." She said to the nine tailed fox, who shook his head and sat on the bed, his black nine tails moving majestically, making her smile widen.

Talking to the nine tailed fox didn’t feel strange because she knew he was listening, but what was strange was the eye contest the nine tailed fox and Cyrus always had. It was always intense and creepy.

She shrugged and blew air into her mouth. "I have no choice but to deal with it." She muttered, and the fox looked at her as if he could read her mind.

Sage laughed nervously and turned away from the fox.

Were he and Cyrus twins or something?

She was wondering where the demon panthers were because they were always sleeping near the fire place but hadn’t been seen in a while.

"It is time to read these scrolls." She sighed and opened the scroll on her lap, only to see an image of a fire. "What is this?" She turned to the side of the scroll and noticed some strange writing.

"Wrath of the Fire Mage." She exclaimed as she read. "Scroll of fire mages? I should have read this scroll instead of the books."

She reopened the scroll and lightly placed her fingers on the fire image lines. The lines stared glowing faintly and so was her fingers. As she gritted her teeth, her eyes transformed into the fiery red form, and the glowing lines of the drawing shone brightly.

Sage’s mouth dropped open as the image vanished from the scroll and appeared in front of her. It was large and brightly lit. It reminded her of Cyrus’ mother Aurora, whom she had met previously in Empire City.

Sage got out of bed, and the image shifted backwards, enlarging itself.

It was a fire image, with the lines glowing brightly and a star-like glow of multiple colors visible in the image’s spaces, making Sage’s eyes widen in curiosity.

"What exactly is this?" She asked, squinting her eyes and reaching out her hand towards the image.

She expected to feel the image, but instead her hand went into it, causing her to gasp in surprise and withdraw her hand.

"So mysterious," she murmured, shrugging as she got goosebumps.

"Do you believe it is a portal?" Sage inquired of the nine-tailed fox, who was watching the glowing fire image with interest.

"My hand passed through, so I believe it is a portal. But why would Cyrus suggest that I read the scrolls? Is he aware of the portal? He must believe it is secure." She thought to herself and extended her hand again towards the portal, taking a step forward and smiling as her hands sank in.

An ancient ice covered mansion was seen somewhere in the cold forest after the castle, and inside the mansion was seen an ice statue of a woman.

A snowflake was seen floating above her outstretched hands, and a flare was seen floating above her second hand.

The flare suddenly began to glow brightly, and Sage had placed her hand into the fire image at that precise moment. She placed her second and closed her eyes as she walked into the image of fire. She vanished from the room, as did the glow flare above the ice statue’s hand.

Sage wanted to open her eyes when she felt her entire body being burned. She screamed because she had never felt the agony of being burned before. It was impossible for a fire mage to be killed by fire, but the pain was so excruciating that she had to scream.

When she opened her eyes, she was in the room and the image was gone. She looked at her hands, which were completely covered in fire, and the pain intensified, causing her to scream in agony.

She screamed and fell to the ground, despite the fact that her body stiffened.

Her gaze moved to the bed, where she saw Snowflake seated and staring at her blankly.

She groaned in agony, closing her eyes and sharply breathing.

The pain was intense, affecting every part of her body and gradually progressing to internal pain, which she felt mostly in her chest, making it difficult to breathe.

Her mind was in disarray, not understanding why she was being burned by fire and why she was back in the room and not in any other world or something.

She needed assistance in cooling herself because the pain was increasing by the second, draining her energy as her screams faded.

Her lips quivered as she tried to speak. "C.. c.." She tried to speak.

She took a deep breath in and out, then swallowed to regain her strength. Her hands were clenched and trembling; she felt her heart stop for a moment but could hear it beating loud and clear.

Her fiery eyes glowed brightly as she thundered, "CYRUS!" and darkness swallowed her.
